Owning an A3 and having tested both, went for the A3 because of driving experience. Much more agile and fun to overtake. Not the biggest car but neither smallest. Being smaller and lighter make it really quick!
I'm considering a used a3 for the purpose of affordability so I can put the extra money into improving/building it. Can you do a video or tell more about the transmission software, and all its intricacies?
For some reason in the Netherlands the used market for the a3 has a higher pricepoint than the a4. You could get a newer a4 with less miles for less money than an a3
You had responded to me last month with this exact question. I have gone with the mqb a3 and have already gotten quite a few mods with springs, wheels, intake, exhaust, and a cobb acessport! My wallet now thanks you 😂 😁
I had the choice of a CR170 A3 s line, CR140 A4 s line or 2.0 TFSI A5 s line... I went A3, mostly for cheaper tyres etc than the A5... and it was the engine I wanted
yup definitely a valid point. I wish it was possible to do an IS38 swap on the B9 A4. That would really be a game changer. The AWD system is better and it is a nicer car with a better interior etc.
@@savagepandaprojects definitely man get u doing the is83? I want to get that done also question bro I'm running 91 Oct can I use 100 Oct without doing anything I know apr has the 104 Oct but no 100.
@@Audisport99 I am certainly looking forward to the Upgrade! If you only have 91 octane in your area you must stick with the 91 octane tune. Trying to run 100 octane file without proper fueling is very unsafe and not advised. Thanks 👍
Im mainly looking at these because my mom will let me have her 2018 es350 but i want a nice quattro i could mod. Could you or anyone explain a little of how these awds are different with traditional and helux
Hey love the channel man! But I plan on getting this 2016 A3 Quattro for $13.5k it has 80k miles on it and has 1 previous owner, it’s sold at a dealership and I’m going to pay in full but I was wondering what concerns and questions should I have when I go look at it this next weekend? Thanks!
Thanks for checking out the channel man! Appreciate that 👍 see if you can see some service history. It should definitely have had DSG and haldex service by now. Make sure when you drive it you pay close attention to confirm the awd is in fact engaging properly. Sometimes the haldex pumps can fail on these cars.
@@savagepandaprojects I actually have the link to the car fax but I’m not sure I understand it is there any way I could dm you it and you tell me what you think about it?
One thing to mention directly is that A3 is able to take advantage of the MQB platform which has the same engine block as the S3 and golf R - while the A4 is a completely different 2.0t with a weaker block/different internals.
Yup MQB much better platform with aftermarket support. Seems like with the A4 you're pretty much stuck with the IS20 turbo as well. Both nice cars just with different purposes I suppose 🙂
Isn't the s3 engine the same as a3 with better tuning? Honest question, is was just something I was assuming. Could you explain if they are different? I'm tossing up whether to do a3 and just have a blast building and improving it, or do the s3 and enjoy some of its offerings instead. Thoughts?
@@kenjsylvia It is more than the turbo. The engines are the same, but there is some extra reinforcement built into the S3 pistons and a few other areas (can’t remember exactly). Still, you can tune the A3 to get to S3 power. Just remember to get it done by actual pros.
The a4 has the gti 2.0t engine, so does the a3. The a4 just has the awd and the a3 is front wheel drive like the gti. The s3 and golf r have the same engine
The A3 is the driver's car. The A4 is the more practical but less fun choice (I have driven both in all trims); It's all about what you want. ...oh yeah, btw, not buying quattro is like going to a prostitute for a hug....
Went for the 2017 FWD A4 with the Premium Plus package instead of a Quattro with "only" Premium...biggest mistake of my life. I regret it every day. On launch control, front wheels spin until early 3rd gear....Gonna resell as soon as the new C300 gets released. Won't fail to go 4matic this time
Meh, my a4 fully decked out sport pack as well it’s legit a s4 body and everything just no v6 but honestly makes my a3 2018 seem very basic but it was just a premium plus but no sport pack or digital dash, this a4 got it all and much more plus the space is nice better sounding engine as well

Great choice!
I’m a shorter guy and I’d think the s3 would suit on me
For me I wish I went with the a4 paid about the same price used. A4 with an actually awd then the haldex so I highly recommend a4 plus ➕

1.6 diesel?

Neither! It's a 2.0T lol
2.0 lol😅 2020
Damn markets changed a lotttt average price is mid to upper 20s for an a3 I’m near Chicago lol got mine 55k miles for 23k

looking at those used car prices when shopping for a A3 right now...hurts

went with the A4 with the simple fact that I regularly have passengers in the back and the A3 rear legroom is pretty awful
