in the year or so Ive been watching Cleetus (since Leroy arrived) he has gone from "I dont know how but Ill try", to building his own 1000hp engines and turbo kits. Hes not even afraid of DOHC timing chains. Keep it up, and HELL YEAH BROTHER

I'd bet on a PID driven solenoid rather than a timer circuit under PWM; CONSTANT DATAAAAAAAAAAAA (and continual gentle reducing of error bars)

Lesson learned, check those junkyard blocks, install all new bearings, freshen them up. Have some fun. The deep pan was a good idea, both, for windage and the fact the car leaves hard. For anyone running a dry sump oil system, check those pumps for the proper clearance before bolting them on. Guys have pulled their hair out hunting down low-pressure problems, assuming that the new dry sump pump was a quality piece. Tightening up the clearances [machining end clearances ]brings the pressure up. Keep up the great job guys. I may be one of your oldest fans.
Now that's how you film the results of a dyno pull ! Nice and Clear & can see the shape of the curve in addition to peak numbers. Great job

When people ask you why you’re deaf in old age. “Because I enjoyed myself when I was younger”. 😂 hearing protection is also not the most practical thing in the world seeing as they are listening on purpose to hear any strange noises and shift points and everything else. You can’t tune a car with hearing protection and they are all involved in the tuning process here. You can’t r ally drive a car to its fullest potential with hearing protection either.
You should dyno with the flap on the exhaust half half open. Watching previous videos from ruby at the drag strip that flap is pushed down from air resistance past the 1/8 mile.

It wouldn't make much of a difference if at all on dyno but I definitely see how it could be a concern at high speed.
The way I see it, even if the tractor flaps are -150hp it's worth it
Call me crazy, but if you turned those flaps 90 degrees, problem solved. Hell make em open up opposite of each other and when they both open it'll look like Ruby is giving the two-finger "V" for victory! Hell yeah!
Yea when the tractor flaps are closed it can create too much back pressure even being just half way closed and you can lose hp, blew up a motor amongst other things who knows that could have played a factor in that charge pipe getting cherry red hot and not just from having a broken or too small of a waste gate if he turns them around where the wind and exhaust holds them open it might pick up a little bit and he might loose that back pressure issue on the dyno

Cost wise the flights weren't bad. $600 cdn area. Hotels are cheap here too. We were in Orlando for 2 nights, currently at west palm beach for barrett Jackson then off the Bradenton tomorrow. We rented a car for $21 a day and fuel is cheap here too. All in for 2 people* if you budget properly $1500 would be doable!

The flapper on the wastegate is so cool since you can see the second the gate cracks open, then a second later you hear the wastegate growl. Cool little shit like that I love. I always wanted to put tractor flaps on my old cars exhaust but never got around to doing it.

Before each dyno pull it would be nice to see a on-screen graphic indicating what settings is being tested (turbo PSI, timing, AFR etc). Live telemetray with each dyno run would be alright too.

Loved to see the decibel meter ! I work with many deaf mother truckers and they are always going on about hearing protection and they they regret not wearing it .. now you just need to wear it haha 😂👍🏽 the eardrum will likely rupture at 150db and that one pull hit 124 😂🤦🏽♂️
150 is is over 5x as loud as 124. Decibels are on a logarithmic scale. Also, as someone who works in audio, this isn't 124dB. Sitting infront of the PA stacks at a rock concert is 125dB. I have no idea where it's reading the signal from, but 124dB at those frequencies would easily leave you with ringing ears for a full day.
@@unlisted9494 1000hp open exhaust? That 123db seems about right. James is always plugging atleast one ear. I imagine coop does too. Cleetus probably gets less sitting in the car so it's not nearly as bad.
@@unlisted9494 The sensor the decibel meter reads from is probably somewhere on the car like the rest of the dyno sensors, hell, knowing these guys they probably put it in one of the pipes. Guess I'll have to wait until Cleetus and Cars tomorrow to hear for myself. I'll report back if Ruby does indeed give me ringing ears.
