    Tipping is always super appreciated, and in several locations it can make a huge difference in the life of not only that employee, but their family as well. The reactions alone make it worth it. ♥️

    Tipping $5 dining is too high! I will do $1-2 per person is good enough! You already paid to stay at all inclusive! High tips is not needed unless you want to!

      We always say tip what you feel comfortable and can afford to tip. Tipping is not required at all.

    This was really informative, thank you! I just wanted to add that I was told to tip in pesos because, just like they could get a favorable exchange rate in USD, they can also get an unfavorable exchange rate. We figured, do the exchange at our bank before going that way everyone gets the best rate possible when tipping :)

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Than you for your comments! When we talk directly with resort staff the response has always been USD. Another thing that we didn’t mention in the video is to make sure you don’t give them any bills that are torn. Supposedly the banks don’t like torn bills

    • @DamasCigars
      @DamasCigars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Talking from my experience is better to tip in USD dollars when they change it to local currency; the rate is way better than the turistic area

    the only problem is Canadian do not have paper 1 or 2 $ they only have coins, and banks do not have a lot of paper US 1 dollar.

    We have been to the same resorts in small town Mexico and the staff we have dealt with have said that they prefer pesos as they only have one day off a week and don't have time to stand in line at the bank. Also with us we are from Canada and to go the bank to get US dollars and the exchange rate sucks. So paying with pesos we tip more which in the end benefits the employees. I have tip the lady who cleans the public washrooms as they are forgotten about and maintenance stuff that we have dealt with.

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We just returned from a stay at Excellence and Beloved Playa Mujeres. During this stay we actually interviewed several staff at each resort and had a variety of questions we asked. The topic of Pesos -vs- USD was asked during each interview. 95% of the staff said they prefer USD. Pesos is fine too, but as far as preference is concerned the majority like USD. Normally the exchange rate will be in their favor when they do exchange currency. Ultimately, I think the most important thing here is to recognize how important it is to tip the staff if you receive good service. I really like your idea of tipping the "forgotten" staff (landscapers, maintenance, etc.). They all work so hard to make sure the resorts are in tip top shape and they work for peanuts compared to most other countries.

      @@AllInclusiveReviews we spend a lot of time in Huatulco when we go to Mexico so a little different from Cancun and Puerto Vallarta so maybe that makes a difference.

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're probably right. We've never been to Huatulco, how is it? What resort did you stay at?

      @@AllInclusiveReviews we love it there. Both towns are small and a pleasure to walk around, we have felt comfortable and safe doing so. We have stayed at Las Brisas which at one time known as Club Med before it was sold. Out of the many times we have gone we have never had a bad day of weather. We go in January or February or March, always for 2 weeks at a time. Hubby would like to try one of the other resorts across the bay as all the stairs are getting a little hard on the very old knees....great for wearing off calories tho.

    Do you recommend USD or Mexican Peso? I’m leaning towards bringing pesos, just so if something happens I don’t lose US currency

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bring USD. Everyone tips in USD. I'd suggest grabbing a bunch of $2 bills as well. It cuts the physical stack in 1/2 compared to bringing the same amount in $1 bills. I'll usually call my bank branch and see how many $2 bills they have and grab as many as I can.

    Thanks for your help, it really clarifies so many things, but I really think US citizens are obsessed with tipping and somehow forcing the rest of the world to tip for almost everything, no matter the service or even if it isn't satisfactory at all. Wouldn't it be better if the hotels pay better their employees rather than expecting the guests to supplement their wages? Why should I tip a person who does his/her job as expected? If they serve me a drink full of water and ice or poorly mixed, should I tip? Do you feel that if you don't tip the maid she will leave spiders under your pillow or not refill the soap dispenser? Do they return me the tip if I treat them politely as I should? I've seen people mistreating bartenders, humillating them and then leaving a buck with a smile of condescencion. Why do not tiping the lifeguard or the dancers in the show? Please, stop trying to make the rest of the world miserable for not leaving a green path of dollars after us.

    One thing that would help me cross the boundary into paying tips at an AI resort is knowing how much the workers make without tips. If the person is making a living wage without tips then why tip?

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A lot of people in the USA aren't even making a living wage. Those in Mexico are paid peanuts and usually have to travel a great distance to get to the resorts they work at. Most resorts, thankfully have large busses that make stops and pickup up employees and return them home. The tips go a long way in helping them to make enough to live on.

  • @46L482
    @46L482 ปีที่แล้ว

    You do realize servers make 46,000 USA dollars.

    • @AllInclusiveReviews
      @AllInclusiveReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Where did you hear that? Maybe in the US, but definitely not in Mexico. Maybe 46,000 in pesos which is about 2700-2800USD per year. Resort workers make between 150-350USD per month depending on their job (not including tips)

    • @46L482
      @46L482 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @AllInclusiveReviews I am including tips.
      You can not say they make little money and not include tips.
      So how much money do they make, including tips.
      Now, we are back to 46,000 dollars a year
      It is like saying I make 100,000 a year. I get a bonus of 150,000 a year. But I only make 100,000. You have to go by total income.

    The problem with the tipping as American, the cash, no on carries it anymore. Having to go to the bank, which I have not done in years to get, $1, $5 and $10, is just inconvenient and our of your way, I even deposit checks mobile.
