Hi kev, great vlog could not agree more, when you live in a van it's amazing how little you need! We are also so much happier in the van than we was ever living in our property, it's just so easy and time is not a worry, the days fly bye, look forward to your future vlogs! All the best on your travels regards Dave and Bonita p.s have subscribed to your channel
I was a truck driver for 50 years away all week sleeping in my cab, I am now travelling around Asia I am sure when I get back to UK I will gets a caravan or Van used to love life on my own it was brilliant good luck to you hopefully all will go ok for you
It looks like you dropped this video six months ago and you said you had 63 subscribers. It's now January, 2025 and you have 13.5 K!!! Did you ever think you'd reach that?! I'm pretty sure your numbers will grow, because your content is so relevant to people choosing van life without spending thousands on vehicles, buildouts and design. Your delivery is authentic and welcoming - and of course there's Rupert! Thanks for bringing us along.
Five good reasons, thank you for sharing your experience… Currently in a house and married, but my wife’s been threatening divorce for the past six years. Because of this I’ve been thinking of an alternative lifestyle… Subscribed
I’ve just subscribed, you are the most honest and happy van lifer, many of the others are all drama, tears, victim mentality and negativity on TH-cam . I wonder why they bother . Brilliant positive channel
Totally agree about mental health benefits, If I get fed up I can just drive to a different spot. I used to drink excessively to self medicate my anxiety, I had to stop drinking for my van life and nearly 5 years sober and don't miss it.
It's so reassuring to hear you talk of solitude being happiness, now I need not dread old age or widowhood should it arrive. Thank you. Your a treasure. Harry
Superb vlog and couldn't agree more with all the reasons. I think most people who live full time have the same emotions and find peace with the independence and freedom it gives . Like you i'm in the process of clearing 20 years of stock in three containers . My business is high end Danish modern furniture so its taking a while to sell , but as things clear I feel a huge burden lifted . !!
I think this is why highly financially successful people choose a minimal home with white walls and simple furniture. Because their lives are so busy, they need simplicity to relax.
Spot on .im in peace and know exactly what you mean ..i myself cant tollerate a call or a knock on my door when im home..its like a electric shock for me ..yep im an introvert you got it!!😂 fantastic videos 🤠👍
I often refer to my space in the van as a cocoon. Especially when the weather is bad and i have to spend quite a bit of time inside, it feels like a cocoon. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on how you do your life, alot of what you say resonates. Good luck with everything 🤯
Well done to you. You're an inspiration. I'm 62, we have a motorhome, I still work, but I work 5 on 5 off, so it gives me the opportunity to go away for a reasonable period. Best of luck, will continue to follow your journey.
Alright geezer i used to do housr clearances for oliver browns in Brixton back in the day we had the shop there and it was a right earner cheap verneer wardrobes painted up and your in a poor neighbourhood cheap prices for the people oh I've got some stories!! Like to meet you I've been in my van for 18 months ldv convoy ex riot van all done before before I got it only thing I ain't got is a shower but we manage and I can stay in my van all day as long as I got plenty of books peace and love kev and all van people
I’m in a very similar situation… been self employed for years .. had five staff.. thing was ok comfortable until this last 3 years ish.. still holding onto my unit and equipment tools etc… but realistically.. its just scrap metal.. bought a old retro motor home I have now nearly restored and hopefully get it finished this summer..but yes..I also want off the hamster wheel.. think the movement of van life people is growing daily.. I had no intention of working until I am 67. Couple more years to claw back as much cash as possible.. and move on.. next chapter.. you are doing the right thing.. good luck stay safe.. all the best..
Hello my friend and 1st subscriber, thanks for your comment. I can't believe I've got 1000 views on 1 video but I am delighted. I'm learning more about making videos and really enjoying the whole process. It's becoming a really nice hobby and I'm very humbled that so many people are taking some of their precious time to watch my content. Thank you again for your continued support, Kev
Your attitude is great. It's inspiring and makes me feel good. However, I've been living in my van too (not by choice) since 2020, and I rent a cabin in a garden centre for my job. I'm struggling a bit at the mo, but the main thing on my mind at th emoment is having to decide between which is more cost effective - a small white Ford Connect or a big Blue Renault Master. I'm lucky I have the choice, I know. The thing with the little white Ford is that I can park anywhere, the big blue Renault is a little bit more awkward to park. How do you find places you can park? I've been staying in one place for a long time, because life hasn't exactly been kind to me since 2020 (won't go into it!).
Hi, thanks for your comment. I stay local to where I work so quite static. When I was in my smaller van (Citroen dispatch) it was much easier to park, i could even go in multi storey car parks! But I love being able to stand up in my big van, it's a trad e off and everybody's different, Kev
You didn't mention travel. I would love to explore the wonderful places to see from the most northern to the most southern tip of the country. Imagine parking in a safe place where you can see forests, and lakes and rolling green hills.
Hi there, new subscriber here. I had the same job as you until recently… and I totally get what you mean. I’m constantly surrounded by shit! 😂 I have one lock up and a caravan full of crap plus stuff in my home and I want it gone. I crave van life but I have a partner and 17 year old son. My solution for now is to just free myself of all the shit. It does make me feel overwhelmed and anxious and I now need peace, joy and freedom. Thank you for making this video, it’s really inspired me. You sound like you’re from Essex! I’m in Enfield. All the best either way your channel and I look forward to more videos.
Hi Hen, thanks for subscribing and for your message. I'm really trying hard to get all the stuff gone. When I have a good spell and get rid of a load of stuff I feel so much better. My old attitude was If i get rid of it all, I'll have nothing left to sell". Now I just want it gone! i'm definitely an Essex boy!! 😂🤣😎

A new subscriber from Alberta, Canada! I just stumbled on your channel, after watching two of your videos, so far! You gave five fantastic reasons, excellent job my friend!
I love being on my own. But I love going to towns and cities and watching people and chatting to people from all ages all cultures or colours or genders. I have learnt so much about people and their ways . they are so fascinating. Talking to people enriches my life. But having the solitude when I need and I want gives me peace, and time to reflect. Learning about humans is a lifelong journey and can be amazing, because there are some lovely people out there but there are some truly vile evil people too. I give them a massive wide berth.
In my early 20s, l lived in an old 80s Toyota Hi-Ace van for 2 years to save on rent and get a deposit for a flat. l loved the absolute freedom and the old Toyota was cheap & never went wrong. Wouldn't want to do it today as modern Vans have become very expensive to buy and maintain. l own a VW T6 kombi which l bought for £44,000 9 years ago with a mere 100,000 on the clock today everything is now packing in or worn out. The master cylinder, clutch, serpentine belt and tensioner all had to be replaced this year at a cost of nearly £3000 also the Air Con no longer works & VW quoted £1600 to fix it which l can't afford.
I brought a new T6 and after 2 years hated it so much i sold it. I brought a new Maxus Deliver 9 and fork me this van is 100 times better than VW. I used to own VW T4 petrol and diesel and did around 400,000km in them with only 1 broken drivers door lock. I also have a new Peugeot Expert which was not only $20.000NZD less than a 6.1 but is better in every respect.
Resonates strongly. I do not live in a van currently but am oddly enough considering it.. Because many of the reasons you are listing. “Connecting to nature” would be another one for me. Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Kev. I share your mindset though living outside the system while still in the matrix was not enough…now living off-grid in rural Thailand…no Westerners and haven’t spoken to any since I left the UK…if I ever return to visit in the summer months it will be to go walk-about along the coast…to be a householder means that you are held by the house: which means locked into the matrix…stay free mate or as we say around these parts…Sabai, Sabai 🙏
First time I've watched you, great little video, you remind me of a slightly older version of me 😂 similar dog🐾🐾 I buy and sell bits and bobs on eBay, I've kitted out my vauxhall Zafira for car camping, hopefully one day I will have a van to live in and get myself out of my over priced studio flat, keep up the good work

You sound a very spiritual soul. You have jettisoned a lot of the bullshit we are inculcated with and conditioned to believe is " normal" for a pared down, contented lifestyle that you have shaped to suit you personally.
Cool, your the first person I've found who lives in their vehicle and sells on Ebay/online. They really can be at odds at time and not. I wanna drive off, but I can't cuz of shipping. I think I've heard you mentioned on other reseller channels as 'campervan kevin' is that you?
Hiya Kev, Just stumbled on your video and It sounds exactly like what i wanna do, heres a question for ya how will you get around the problem of no fixed abode ie driving credentials etc ? Regards Michael
A lot of worry/pain in life comes from the fear/anxiety/etc of BILLS. Water, electricity, rent, council fees, when and if and how much??????? the unknown threat and when you are vanlife, you've paid for your solar etc, you never have another electricity bill, same with water etc and ALL THAT WEIGHT, that you either are or are not consciously aware of is GONE BABY!!!!!! Exhale and sleep well, nice!
ive been a minimalist my entire 59 years .. i have never envied people with all of their 'stuff' .. to me that has always represented 'chains' .. no thanks .. i'll take freedom any day

Cool, your the first person I've found who lives in their vehicle and sells on Ebay/online. They really can be at odds at time and not. I wanna drive off, but I can't cuz of shipping. I think I've heard you mentioned on other reseller channels as 'campervan kevin' is that you?
Hi, I don't think that's me. Shipping is a pain :-) Thanks for subscribing, Kev
Hiya Kev,
Just stumbled on your video and It sounds exactly like what i wanna do, heres a question for ya how will you get around the problem of no fixed abode ie driving credentials etc ?
Regards Michael
Hi Michael, ask a a friend or family member if you can use their address
I really respect Kev ! it’s not if you do it or not. As a man you should earn for herself. And be a man.
Great vid. X
Thanks so much, Kev
Nice channel Kev - what is your ebay account nickname ? Good Luck with van life brother.

Thanks for posting. Can I ask what you do about having a postal address for your business, pensions, credit cards etc.,
A lot of worry/pain in life comes from the fear/anxiety/etc of BILLS.
Well said scholar.🦉
buying my boss vw transporter camper to start van life full time how does it go with DVLA and bank account having no address
Hi, use a friend or family address is best, Kev
👋🏻🏴 5 good reasons .
ive been a minimalist my entire 59 years .. i have never envied people with all of their 'stuff' .. to me that has always represented 'chains' .. no thanks .. i'll take freedom any day
That's where I'm headed. Thanks
@Re-CreatingKev
embrace the experience sir!
Hi! Just found your videos and have subscribed. Totally resonate with you. I’m finding myself in a similar situation to you and I’m looking into getting a van for me and my dog🐾
Can I ask, do they let you have Rupert with you in the business unit?
💫Sending positive vibes your way⭐️
Hi, yes Rupert goes to work at the unit with me, Kev
@@Re-CreatingKev That’s great Kev🐾😁 I’ll be looking to having a similar set up , so it’s good to know some units let you take your dog in😁 Rose
It sounds to me that having to move out of your house was a blessing in disguise
