Vince has so much talent and is a crazy athlete -- undoubtedly, he'd continue having a very successful fight career. On the flip side, however, I'm happy Vince is saving his brain cells for more creative and altruistic endeavors. He's too damn intelligent to be a career fighter, and he's going to make such a big impact on this world with things outside of competition.
One of the important aspects of grappling is the clinch because a lot of the "safe" tie up positions are ideal throwing positions in wrestling. Greco-Roman wrestling can actually help you to be a hint more dominant in the clinch and for MMA purposes it can teach you to throw a lazy boxer if they tie up. Freestyle can teach you a bit more on takedowns but grappling as a whole is a lot of disciplines
When pitted against Khabib, Islam, Usman, or Colby, you're simply not going to get up easily, it'll pretty much take a herculean and exhausting effort to try to get back up that when you finally manage to somehow recover some footing, you're so tired to keep standing and defending their follow-up takedowns and chain wrestling
I watched some vids, but didn't saw one thing. So can you make "how to defend and fight with the same hand", cause there are people that can't use both hands and I think it will be interesting.
6:25 was the best tip of the whole series. all were great points, but the structural advantage as Vince said that pushing his head away from your body gives is key to not getting flattened. Thing is what do i address first as i go down? Do i first post with one hand push the head with the other to free the hips, and then crossface him to the other side and switch my hips? or do i fall back, push his head to the other side, hip escape and wizzer my way to a sprawl? There must be a step by step to this so we know what to do when its full speed:)
Wrestling is all about the hips tbh. Whether you're turning in towards the opponent to hit a switch and get behind or hip out, or whether you're turning away to get back to a base and stand up, the key is that as soon as your ass hits the ground your hips start turning
I bench 400 pounds and squat 600 and clean 320, I’ve fought wrestlers and BJJ guys, they might get me down sometimes but I always just literally stand up, than I see red and bodies drop, lifting weights and anger problems triumphs all martial arts
If u are not from Dagestan or Montreal.. you will probably fail at reaching any levels khabib is at training 10 hrs a day w his dad for 25 years .... wrestling a beer (bear) 😆 or GSP level for that matter.. but who cares. REAL fighters prefer to STAND ... I like how fast u are getting back up .. gives me hope .. U are the best for demos btw 💓
Firstly try avoid getting that pos by quickly lowering your centre of gravity, legs wider and fight for breaking their grip before they can get you airborne. If you fucked up, depending on angle, but you can either try stay somewhat upright and keep your balance thanks to the other guy, depending on you and your opponents lenght etc and hopefully manage to land on one leg with a bit of luck och pull guard or something. Or do it the other way around like Gaethje did vs chandler. He instead embraced falling forward/tilting over chandler and being somewhat upside-down, which made it possible for him to grab his legs and continue to roll forward. Fucking up the chandlers footing/balance and getting tf outta there before he could jump Justin and get a dominant pos on the ground.
You don't have to win man, you just gotta stand up for yourself. Even if they beat the crap out of you and you just got in 1 punch on one of the dudes you still: 1, showed that you got balls 2. Fought back, which means it's not a good target to bully cause it might leave a sting sometimes (like take wasps for instance, they arent deadly unless allergic, but people generally fear those little mfers ALOT. Cause it still hurts to get stung even tho it's not that bad really. People are alot more cautious when trying to swat a wasp than a fly. And if a fight where to happen, try standing in a door post for defence. Then they can max come like 2 at a time, and from one direction only (unless they can come from both directions). With a bit of boxing experience 1 person can easily stand a chance against many that way. Esp since the boxers punches will be alot tighter and alot more efficent and not using much space compared to the average haymaykers people throw.
Best advice to fight a wrestler - or any grappler kickbox. Keep them at a distance they can’t do anything in. Same applies for fighting a striker, learn to wrestle.
Sometimes you can’t though, if you have very short arms it’ll be hard. That’s why you gotta study people like max Holloway, has very shorts arms and sucks at wrestling but has insane takedown defense. You just have to practice timing stuffs and sprawls. You only get better by wrestling, you may not be better at offensive wrestling but if you spend all your time with defense you’ll be on par with some of the best wrestlers in terms of defense
I feel like if you were trying to get a similar training stimulus on your own, the turkish get up would be perfect. Almost every single position in that movement is being used intensely here.
The value contained within these 8-9 minutes it's incredible brother. Thank you and keep up the good work. Much love from the UK!

What do you do if when they grab you they lift you up,you have no way of moving your hips
Firstly try avoid getting that pos by quickly lowering your centre of gravity, legs wider and fight for breaking their grip before they can get you airborne.

How do you defend against a ground & pound?
I really wonder if the first tactic will work on an overweight person. Will they be hard to take down using that tactic??
Cool
Masvidal needed this. Better he didn't back up to the fence tho
I can tell you don’t really understand martial arts if you didn’t masvidal fighting for positions the whole time
