Geeze, by these comments I was thinking she fell flat on her face during the pirouettes. No, her pirouettes were not perfect, but she covered the fact that she was off her center very well. Pirouettes on pointe are extremely difficult. She is 15 years old. She is incredible for anyone, especially a 15 year old. I really love this performance.
Yes I agree - Miko is AMAZING for someone her age. But seeing someone at that level, amongst others who are likewise at that high standard or even better, not excel and perform her best is a little disappointing. Of course, it was probably just an off day for her - it happens to the best of us. I think a lot of us just want her to keep improving and for her to do her best and I personally think someone extraordinary like her can do better (not that she isn't doing very well already!) :)
I agree that it is disappointing to not see her stick those turns like she usually does. I just felt the comments were particularly harsh, and led me to believe she stumbled really badly or something. I do think she was off her center, but since it is so unlike her to waver during performances, I feel it's possible that the stage had something to do with it. But yes, I do look forward to seeing her improve even more over the next few years and seeing whether she makes a company or not (:
The stage definitely threw many dancers off their turns. The Prix de Lausanne uses a raked stage, it's not easy to dance on them at all! It requires some time getting used to, but Miko was great she didn't fall out of her turns too badly.
DancingKarateka as I’m watching this back now I was taken back by her seeming “backsliding” in technique. I take into account the rake, but I’m sure she’s danced a raked stage before this. It has got to be an issue if coaching. She also seems unsure of herself during other sections, you can see on her face. There is a lack of dynamics in parts that have previously been there in her performances. It might be her age but my money is on coaching.
Despite the pirouettes, this was incredible!!! She moves swiftly across the stage, just like a feather. There was expression and smoothness in all of her movements, it's almost heavenly inhuman!
Even tho she stumbled on the pirouettes, this is probably my fave variation. Most of the dancers I've seen do this seem a little stiff and technical (and for a ballet comp it makes sense), but Miko here seems to understand at an early age about balancing skill with artistry and gracefulness, and expressions expected in ballet. I stopped years ago but if I discovered her then, Miko would definitely be my idol in ballet
She is one of the most beautiful dancers in the world. And that's why she won a gold metal in Moscow. Everything she does comes out from thought and hard work.Nothing comes out by luck. She has amazing control, and so "clean" technique. Its the traditional beautiful ballet and it's missed..
She is no longer a dancer, at least not a professional dancer. She is studying to become a doctor. She is still dancing, according to an interview with her, but not performing.
her first pirouette was off center to the right, and her second was off center to the left. this shows that not only does she know her problem and how to fix them, she's actively trying to do so, and within a time frame of about 3-5 seconds. her performance was admirable, especially considering the stage was raked and she's wearing freaking gaynor mindens, which, yes, i know are/were her favorite, but aren't nearly hard enough to support her arch.
Dancing on a raked stage is incredibly difficult especially if you haven’t spent a long time practicing on one. Miko is a naturally gifted turner. Her pirouettes are extraordinary. Watch her Odalisque variation from Le Corsaire. Nevertheless she only slightly flubbed one pirouette. Her feet were not great at that age (or younger) unlike everything else about her, including her amazing musicality, technique and expressiveness, her feet are a bit of a “weak” spot - not amazing arches. So what. She’s still spectacular with a quality you can’t learn or be taught.
OMG people get a grip on life with all the negativity and criticism!!!!! Enjoy her beautiful artistry , and stop judging her off balance or point shoes! She is trained with a placement for flat floor. In less than a week she had to adapt her placement to a slanted floor, which works very much different the upper body and core. Something that takes weeks to adjust to and develop strength.
im just in love with this variation! even in my ballet class, we dance this for our summer recital, (i think!) and i cant belive us (me and the ballet class can do that pirouettes! amazing!
They don’t look quite “stiff” enough. She looks like she could manage with a slightly harder shoe that isn’t as flexible in the forefoot, or perhaps half shanked so they don’t curve below the arch so much when en pointe.
WOW! Miko sure knows her way around the ballet stage! She was suppose to ,make her career as a Medical Doctor. I’m sure she has her PH D now! I’m happy she has recorded her wonderful Ballet talent for the world to see!
Despite the imperfections (which nothing is perfect by the way), this is my favorite Coppelia performance in competitions, and the reason why it is my favorite female variation. Her calmness, grace, and aura is enthralling
@@juliannebauer1767 they werent judging...? they were saying that everyone who performed had some problems with their pirouettes; they never said miko or any of the performers were bad. they even put ":(" at the end of their comment, which probably means they feel pity or sympathy towards the performers
other than the piroettes, I thought the variation was beautiful, and for 15 years old?!?!? this is a very high level of technique to achieve at 15. the artistry, extensions, and control are amazing!
Ok I think there are dislike bots roaming around TH-cam. This video isn’t insulting or anything it’s just a beautiful girl dancing. (I know “just dancing” is not the correct phrase)
Wao, you dance incredible Miko, I am learning to dance ballet (It is NOT as easy as it seems and it hurts a bit) I just hope to fulfill my dream as many dancers have achieved I love your steps are incredible, I hope and you and all the dancers go far and succeed
@@patriciareilly530 Thank you for your comment! I was obsessively researching her last night and honestly shocked to know about it... But I'm so happy to have found her performance 😭💖
Hi, Miko, You should urgently change your point shoes because you have so beautiful feet and arch but in Gaynor Minden they look a kind of weird snd thats a pitty because you are a world class dancer.... My little nephew was two years old when he first swa you dancing and he said i love Miko only Miko can dance and later i will marry her...isn't that cute for a two year old? Keep on dancing and dancing because you were born for it!!!!!!
Hmm I feel like this performance was rather...rushed? Maybe Miko needs to use a different recording... Hopefully she can work on it and in the future we'll see a Coppelia that aces this variation and is totally at ease :D It's wonderful when you see Miko take a variation and make her own
People in the comments have mentioned the performance’s imperfections in spades, which is fine and all, but watching it I was just thinking, “wow this is so impressive - she’s 15!”
Grande senso del ritmo accompagna questa ballerina quasi avesse immiata l'euritmia melodica Ottimi i passi sulle punte in eundo veloce e l'occupazione balzata ed imperativa dello spazio proscenico. To be honest, her fall on the first pirouette was more obvious than her fall on the second pirouette. On the first one, she wasn't able to catch her self and therefore leaned towards the side too much (thankfully she didn't fall right on the floor). But on the second she managed to catch herself a bit though it's obvious that she still fell, it was masked. Now that's a pro.
She looks absolutely stunning but she might want to consider getting refitted for her shoes or trying a different company with a box that supports her more.

i dont know why is everyone so critical of her, i love how expressive she is here ♡

She was only 15 years old and the pirouettes are a small part of the entire variation ! She is so stunning and i really loved her performance.
Despite the pirouettes, this was incredible!!! She moves swiftly across the stage, just like a feather. There was expression and smoothness in all of her movements, it's almost heavenly inhuman!

She is in Gaynors. Look at the bottom of the shoe, Gaynors only get dirty at the specific points on the sole.
