I will always say this when I see a dancer like Maya. Yes of course you can see her training and her athleticism. You can see her ability and you can also see the effort. But what you really see when you watch your dance is artistry. This is a performance. She is playing a part. And if you just let yourself sit back and enjoy what she's doing, you can get lost in the role she's playing. You can forget that she's dancing. And you just get mesmerized by The truth of the emotion that she is expressing through dance.

I think it's funny how none of us know each other yet everhone is bonded together by the legend of Maya's toe pads. I have zero ideas how she does it ; I'm 35 and started with lambs wood toe pads, hated my life lol, and before I stopped dancijfn5 years ago I was using a thin gel toe pad, taping my big and little toes, and if I had any blisters or anything else I tucked loose lambs wool around what hurt - and I could feel the floor beautifully
She's currently 19, as I believe her birthday is at the end of the summer. This competition was held in 2021 at the beginning of the summer, so she would have been 16 at the time. And that's about all the math I care to do if I can help it. lol 😉
