Tigerguy. Saw him twice & love & miss the man. But Tommy DeCarlo is also a great tribute to Brad in his singing...

Yeah, I saw them in Raleigh, NC on this tour, it was awesome, you know how bands say things like "great to have you here, so glad you came," to the audience and you know its fake, you're just another stop to them. Brad seemed really genuine and a nice guy and you believed him when he said that. Great singer too of course.

Those were the days, when Boston could carry arenas and sheds by themselves.
This was the last tour with Brad Delp where the band promoted new material. Of all the songs that were 'reworked' on the latest release, this song turned out the best, imo.

Robert Cole I don't doubt it. imo, Brad's death may have been a wake-up call to work more and harder on getting the live show right. And the light and video show may be used to make up for the lack of band presence on stage. There was a time Tom actually bragged about not practicing. I doubt that is the case now.

@@cuttingthechord1419 Totally agreed! The current lineup of Boston may be the strongest since the original in the 70s. The shows from the 80s, 90s, and the CA tour were very inconsistent. Sometimes they were good, but many times they were sloppy (as many of the bootlegs will prove). This current band really nails it pretty much all of the time and they did really step up the show (ie. lighting, video, etc). Also since they are touring more frequently Tom and co. are keeping their chops up. When you only tour every 5 or so years like they used to it's easy to get rusty. I also think there may be a making up for lost time element here. Tom ain't getting younger and when Brad died Boston had only done about 8-9 tours in the past 30ish years. He seemed to have this mentality that the band only tours when there's a new album out, and interest in his new albums plus the monumental wait time has fatigued people's patience. I think he's finally accepting that just touring for the sake of it and being a nostalgia act without anything new to promote is OK. I have gotten the impression that doing Boston tours used to be more of an obligation to him than a desire, but these days he seems to genuinely enjoy touring and performing, so he's willing to put more effort into it.
Oh, and one other thing I think might be a factor is that technology has finally caught up with his expectations. Modern live sound technology has gotten to the point where he can get the sound and streamlined performances that live up to the records. He's such a perfectionist and while he has thrived in the controlled environment of the studio, performing live is erratic and unpredictable and it's out of his comfort zone, but the technology is so advanced now that it's possible to get it just right. He seems to be more satisfied with the results on stage which is motivating him to tour and play more.

Gotta say I prefer the CA versions of both of the songs they reworked (the third song because a straight remaster).

Kimberly was afraid of singing with Boston, and asked Brad to help. Brad told her to sing like a man trying to sing like a woman trying to sing like a man. I guess this led to an awesome duet!

I had no idea the band ever attempted this song live. However, Tom should really have let Brad sing instead of himself. I guess he figured that out for the remake and let Tommy DeCarlo handle the male parts. Sorry Tom, we love you, but you should really stop trying to sing.

Great song but Tom has no business attempting to sing it. Best to leave that up to Brad and Kim.
