    You definitely articulated Calgary well , after living here for just over a year I totally agree with all the viewpoints .

    Glad I found this video! We’re migrating to Canada and moving to Calgary this November so thanks for sharing your experience. It’ll probably take some time for me to adjust to the cold weather but definitely excited.

      Very exciting! That will definitely be a tough time of year to move just because it will be the start of winter, but there is lots to do indoors! And when summer arrives you’ll see how pretty all the nature is ☺️

      @@morganberna not surprised 😭 would you still recommend a move there?

    • @morganberna
      @morganberna  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @jackstrange I think that depends more on where you’re moving from and your budget. We are in a housing crisis and don’t have rent control (my own rent went up $300/month this month), but it is still cheaper than some other Canadian cities like Vancouver/Toronto.

    • @JackStrange
      @JackStrange 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@morganberna the rent control scares me! At least Van and Toronto(?) have that 🤔 it’s good to know so I can consider! I lived in Van but moved back because of the high costs

    • @morganberna
      @morganberna  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JackStrange yes it’s definitely scary! It wasn’t bad when there were a lot of options, but it’s tricky to find vacancies right now so most people I know have just had to accept whatever their landlords decide. That being said, I do still love the city! It just isn’t how it was as far as affordability a few years back.

      @carlosc.x ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morganberna yes, I have read a lot of articles on the internet; what I find out is for 1 person cost of living goes around 2-2.5 including rent.

    • @morganberna
      @morganberna  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd agree, my own landlord is putting my rent up an additional $400/month @@carlosc.x 🙃. So I still love it, but the affordability has certainly changed and is worth considering!

    I moved around a lot in Canada, from Montreal to Toronto to Vancouver to Victoria. I am currently living in Victoria and lived here for about 7-8 years with my family. And now I'm planning to move to Calgary for its affordability and easier access to family doctor. This video has given me a lot of good information to make that decision. If you were to start a family, where you would live? North West area or South West/East area (such as Mahogany)?

    • @morganberna

    Hi! Thank you for the very insightful video. I'm interested in moving to Calgary and doing remote work in the marekting industry. Is it difficult to find remote work in Calgary or is usually elselwhere? Thank you for sharing!

    • @morganberna
      @morganberna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remote jobs typically allow you to work from anywhere so finding them shouldn’t depend on where you live! If you’re looking for specifically hybrid, I believe lots of companies here offer that now. Glad the video was helpful!

    - How is the job market ? I heard the market is very tough to crack and that is the only thing holding me back

    • @morganberna
      @morganberna  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I work in marketing and do freelance copywriting as well, so I have done a mix of remote work and worked for some companies in town. I've always found work here. I suppose it depends on your industry, but I see lots of marketing positions posted currently (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.). Most people I talk to do need to apply for quite a few jobs before hearing back (myself included).

    Calgary
    Lions stand guard
    Protect the bridge's past
    As waters rush beneath my path
    Chinatown greets me
    As the bus speeds past
    Art is everywhere if you look up
    As the crowd look down alas
    Oh Calgary, how you tease me
    With your complicated downtown
    I walk against the crowd
    A mixture of pity and proud
    Name-dropping conversations
    and telephone sounds
    Smells of cologne and brisket
    BarBQing where deals and meals meet
    Not far announcements
    Of the upcoming Stampede
    Security stands guard
    Darkened doors silent Marquis
    No one blinks an eye
    On this busy street
    Where secrets are spoken
    I have walked several miles
    Yet ended up where I started
    As the bells announced
    the trains going past
    And I followed business
    clones all dressed in black
    Tailored uniforms
    of financial pasts
    I sat down craving the beer
    Announced on every corner
    Not taken over by oil Barron's
    long renown for their behavior
    Where bankers meet
    White summertime
    snow flows as the
    night emperor knows
    And his jester pushes his cart
    Bottles picked all over the park
    To pay the devil what he owes
    Keeps what it takes and both push
    For it's stakes are high
    As they are prey to the
    Lord of another kind
    Songs and the media don't mind
    Glamorizing the lifestyle
    So many addicts
    in the pinpoint of an eye
    It's a cat and sewer rat's game
    While cops drive on by
    Not seeing the quick handshakes
    At the speed of rattlesnakes
    Just as their venomous bites
    Finds another one to die

    9:10 “Politically”, you have some growing up to do and in time will realize, “politically”, why you have found Calgary, Alberta, is better overall. Free-thinking, independent-minded, right-wing politics is what is attracting Canadians to Calgary & Alberta. It is well-known by now that the adult brain does not fully develop until 25-35 years old.
