  • It's just like growing any other variety of basil, but what a beautiful fragrance this has! I'm using my LetPot grower for this, but you can use any Aerogarden type of grower, they are all basically the same, just some have more bells and whistles.....Follow along on my 40 day journey to a beautiful harvest! Great price on the system. It's a lot cheaper than the areograden system.
I never had lemon basil. Sounds delightful. Thanks for sharing.

All these systems are pretty much the same in my opinion. As long as they have a timer for the lights, good LED lights and a pump, and hold a good amount in the reservoir. They are best for leafy greens although I've had success with Tiny Tim tomatoes in the Aerogarden. Thanks for the comment!

I haven’t grown lemon basil even though I have seeds for it. Yours looks great. 😊

If you like lemon flavor, then go for it! Its such a different taste than the traditional basil. Thanks for the comment YouGrowRow!

Great info! Thank you. I've only ever grown the genovese basil. This is something to keep in mind for later. Maybe you could cut some covers for the other holes from some thin cardboard to keep the light out. I was wondering if you were going to dry the basil to use later but I've only ever frozen pesto with a cover of olive oil on top to keep it from getting dark colored.

I'm enjoying the basil in my lemon ginger tea, the rest I froze for later consumption. Great idea to make DIY covers, I was going to use foil so that it would reflect the light back up. But really, these machines should come with covers for the empty holes, right? Thanks for the comment Genevieve!

I have heard that although hydroponics grows well, theend result is that they are usually tasteless. How do your hydroponic plants taste?

I don't find much of a difference with the leafy greens and herbs, but I do agree with you on the tomatoes. The ones grown in soil have a more robust flavor in my opinion. Thanks for the comment Johhny5Fitness!
