The moment she sits up in the bed, lipstick all over the place, eyes closed to turn off the moaning ghosts and then dropped back into sleep without a beat I found the other half of my soul.
30:25 A lot of people wonder why the Maitlands start shrivelling up during this scene; what's happened is that the spectacularly incompetent Otho tried to do a séance, but he accidentally started an exorcism instead. The film only really gives you one proper clue to work this out, and it's *way* earlier on; when they see what exorcised ghosts look like in the "Lost Souls Room." There's also the pun Beetlejuice makes, "I think they've had enough exorcise for the night," but it's easily missed because the pronunciations are so similar. The only other hint you get is that the handbook he's working from is ambiguously written and really easy to misinterpret, "like stereo instructions."
Fun fact - When Michael Keaton was screaming and saying “nice fucking model”, he was actually pissed off that day. He literally vented it out with that dialogue.
@@NocturnEternal yeah he was upset and when the model tree fell over it wasn't supposed to so he ad-libbed the line iconic line that every kid was going around repeating afterwards 😂

Man I loved the Beetlejuice cartoon. When I was a little kid I'd have to go with my grandmother to get her hair done, and they'd let me sit in the break room of the salon and watch tv. Every time she went would be the time the cartoon came on, so I loved going. Also, the salon floors were tiled black and white and made me think of Beetlejuice. Good memories.
I love how people never realize that Betelgeuse is basically a reject in his own movie. He's an out-of-pay worker who just wants to make a deal, but people keep screwing him out of said deals. He has low hygeine and a bit of lewd behavior, but when you live on the streets, working hand-to-mouth for decades, that tends to happen.
First off, congrats on being able to do this full time, I’m sure it’s a lot of fun! Secondly, fun fact - at the end of the scene where the party guests dance to Harry Belafonte around the table and they get attacked by the shrimp cocktail - that actually had to be filmed in reverse because the people who were the shrimp hand puppets were having difficulty finding the faces of the party guests so that they could grab on their faces and push them back from the table. So, they filmed it with their hands on their faces first, and then the party guests act surprised, and then the hands return back to the shrimp bowls. I hope that makes sense!
I’m so hyped for the sequel. Micheal Keaton said all along that Beetlejuice was his favourite role and he was always up for a sequel. The whole cast was great at their roles. My fave film ever!

So, a few observations and all that - I'm sure other people have already pointed them out, but I don't want to scroll. 1) Betelgeuse is a red supergiant star which is on the brink of self-destruction via supernova. We'll probably barely miss it in our lifetime, but when it goes, it will be bright enough to see in the daytime. It's one of Orion's shoulders, you can't miss it. 2) Harry Belafonte's music is used extensively in the soundtrack, which was a nice choice. The man was a treasure. His Calypso album was the first LP to sell a million copies (and it's a banger front-to-back, not just Day-o). He bailed MLK out of jail. He fought for civil rights and social justice hit entire life. May he rest in power. 3) Yes, Michael Keaton is brilliant in this. He's also brilliant in Mr. Mom, an 80s comedy that people seem to have forgotten about. 4) So glad the channel continues to see more and more success. You deserve it. 5) Pet the copilots. Ok, back to the movie.
Crashes where a car goes into the water are a big issue. Even a minor crash can keep you from opening the door and end up drowning. Let alone being upside down, underwater and maybe concussed from the fall.
But the wondrous were open so opening the door wouldn't be that hard. Now it could be that they were injured in the fall or maybe stuck in their seat belts.
@@3DJapanbeing the car flipped upside down, their full weight would have locked the seatbelts preventing them from releasing, the windows being open would only mean their heads would be immediately submerged in water, and being disoriented from the flip, they would have little time to struggle to counteract their weight locking the seatbelts and escaping.

Hey Jay. Fun fact: I don't know if anybody here told you this. But that is how you spell Betelgeuse. The name wasn't or isn't random. There's actually a bit of a back story to it. But, for just the movie and namesake. It's the name of a constellation the character is named after. I did a bit of a deep dive of it about 10 years ago, cuz I was starting to right a fan-fic horror version of it. Not thinking there could be a sequel they been talking about for over 30 years now 😂😁

9:40 Saturn. When a ghost leaves their haunting perimeters, they slip through space onto Saturn.. And yes, she did. She punches the sandworm abd then rides the sandworm later.
"What is that place called, with the sandworms?" No idea, but ghosts have a range from which they can travel away from their former possessions. In thier case it's 0, as soon as they walk outside they are forced back in.
Catherine O'Hara is a legend. She nails the possession scene and plays a great yuppie scum, ha ha.

Oh, yes! The 'Burbs.... "Sardine?" That scene puts me away every time.
@@wendywoodruff2871 Also another movie scored by Danny Elfman :-)
"Why is she dying again?" Because that wasn't a summoning, it was an exorcism.
BEETLEJUICE 2
SEPTEMBER 6 !!!
Hilarious reaction to one of my favorite movies. Thank you for this one. I needed it!
Ever wonder what Otho's last name is? He says it while going up the stairs after the Day-O scene. He says "Otho Fenlock's Locked-door Ghosts."
Sorry I missed the stream! However, I give mad props to the Inspector Gadget shirt! 👍😎
Like his shirts
About Otho: "I hope he dies!"
Well, he does suffer a fashion death...
from the bottom of my heart you guys deserve all the support and more. here's to this first 50k and to the next 50 coming even faster. love this show
The mom is Catherine O'Hara, one of THE BEST comediennes out there.
After years of great performances in film & on TV, her crowning achievement so far is her role on "Schitt's Creek"..Moira is one of the funniest & most memorable characters in TV history. Those 2 Emmys for Best Actress in a Comedy Series are well deserved.
NOTE:💙 Sincere congrats to J, Blank, the cop-pilots-adorable-babies & the talented person who does the thumbnail art for each video (sorry I don't know the name!).
You guys ROCK. And you give a lot of people a lot of joy.
As always, much love from another part of Kentucky.

On SCTV back in the day, she and Andrea Martin would both have me rolling. 🤣

Teehee. The fact that you know what jelly shoes are! 😂
Another great reaction, and that might be the best shirt you've worn yet.

"He switched that up real nice!"
Keaton's ad-lib about Beetlejuice's qualifications is so great. "And it keeps getting funnier every time I see it!!!" is something I use quite a bit to this day.
For more of Keaton's buffoonery - Much Ado About Nothing (the Kenneth Branagh version) with Denzel and Keanu
One of the best lines in the whole flick. His demeanor when he gets all "down to business" is just perfect.
Good timing on this. They're about to drop Beetlejuice 2 and bring back a lot of the original cast. Imagine that, considering how old this movie is? Old, but a classic. Great movie to watch during October.
My brother is totally obsessed with this movie. He was Beetlejuice three Halloween's in a row lol, Even won first place in a costume contest and me in second as a zombie footballer from the film as well.
7:20 ferris buellers day off is where you’ve seen him. The woman next to him is from home alone 1&2.
Not thinking there could be a sequel they been talking about for over 30 years now 😂😁
I'll always associate Zagnut bars with 2 things: Beetlejuice eating that fly and my grandpa going on a tear when I was little where he was eating a Zagnut every day for like a year.
First time watching a live. You had me laughing the whole time. I'm glad you liked it. It's a favorite especially around Halloween.
Congratulations! So happy for you. 🎉🤩🤗
I enjoy your laughter watching movies. You crack me up.
