Great video! I actually learned a lot from this video: 1.synthetic brushes don’t absorb foundation so best to use, 2. Should not use brush for tinted moisturizer, 3. Use finger for concealer/ tinted moisturizer, 4. Use damp sponge thicker foundation. Great tips! Thank you

Also, by watching your videos, my eyeshadow looks 100% better because now I apply eyeshadow in a way that enhances how my eyes look (and your brushes have made a difference). Thank you, Lisa for such informative, fun videos to watch. You are the best.
I started using a damp sponge when applying my full coverage foundation. It gives me a more youthful natural skin look and not so matte. Thanks for a great video!

I always learn something new in each of your videos! I typically only use a brush, because once I learned how to use those, I never looked back. I think those little triangle shaped wedge sponges I had in the 80s turned me off of using sponges. However, I did buy, and try the StansOut sponge, and I do like using that, because you can use it wet, it dry. I watched your video first thing this morning. I used your proper brush technique with my foundation. I met a friend for a walk and coffee and her first words were how pretty my skin looked! I couldn’t believe it! So, there you go! I love your videos!
Love your channel! I can see and hear your passion for what you do. I also appreciate your professionalism and your teaching style. Learn something every time I watch!
You did a great job of explaining which tools to use and why. Even those of us who have been applying makeup for decades need to be reminded of why we instinctively reach for the tools we do and what criteria we use in purchasing tools. Having lost all of my makeup and tools in a fire, I’m having to re-educate myself. It had gotten to be so instinctual that having to start over has been like learning how to do makeup all over again. Videos like yours help me so much. Thank you.
This is GOLDEN!!! Thank you so much for breaking it down. As a MUA for over 20 years, I kind of do these things instinctively, but couldn’t explain it. Thank you for doing so. Many blessings!
Thank you for the technique. I tried it yesterday and my mind was blowing, my face usually looks like a mask and I hate it but once I tried your technique oh my gosh oh… I did exactly everything you said with a brush 🙌🏼 I am no good when it comes to make up I am 36 years old.. now I can do my make up with a little more confidence… I like to do my eyeshadow with my fingers. I have learned a lot from you much appreciate. Thank you.
I never knew which one to use and always thought a wet sponge would take off my makeup as I only use very light to sheer makeup. Thank you for this info. Love your channel.
I love this type of video! Please do more technique tutorials like this. It is so helpful to learn techniques that can be applied to the products that we already have. So very helpful!! :
I can't believe the timing on this video Lisa. I just made myself a note not 2 days ago to see if I could find info on what is the best application for foundation. I am 51 and just starting out in the makeup dept if you will. I am all over the place in application process and I usually hate the end product. When I saw on Instagram that you had uploaded a TH-cam video about the best application method, I knew I had to check it out. I have watch this twice now and am so excited to try this out tonight. I have nowhere to go, so I can sit in front of the mirror and try my hand with the different foundations I have. Thank you sooooo much for sharing this!!
Your brushes are AMAZING!!!! Several months ago i bought your package of brushes and have been loving using them!!!! Love your videos and always learn something….thank you again always offering great advice!!!🤩👍🇨🇦🥰
Your tips are always so helpful. My makeup game has definitely improved since I started watching your channel! As someone who didn't really get into makeup until I was around 40, you've helped me tremendously!
Thank you, Lisa. I have not worn foundation for years. My daughter is getting married. I am 62 and struggling with this. Thank you for the update on how to apply.
Good video but I still like to apply my tinted moisturizer with a brush for the most even distribution, I find fingers leave streaks. Good tip about using a sponge or heavier ones.
Ok, girl, ya just changed my life. I have a foundation brush, no idea why or when I got it but it is pretty nice. I have liquid foundation (the ordinary serum foundation) and now... dots... connected!! Middle of the day, home due to icy weather. I just rocked my look! Thank you! Now, do concealer!!😁
Lisa I absolutely love the BK Beauty brushes!! Just received the Angie Hot and Flashy brushes. They’re also amazing. Concealer brush is just WOW. Thank you❤️
Great tips. I knew about wetting the sponge but I never knew why and I really like the way you explained the different areas on the sponge and how to use them.
I used to make the mistake of applying my foundation with my fingers, I did it for many years until I came to your channel in late 2019. In 2020 I started using a foundation brush and I started using makeup sponges too. The quality of my makeup has greatly improved, sometimes I fail when I try some of your techniques 😅 but I keep trying. I love learning all about makeup, that is why I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for sharing your makeup knowledge know with us ❤️💕💜♥️🥰😘. Thank you Lisa! It’s such a pleasure to watch your videos every week! Greetings from Mexico City 💕💜😇.
I used to use my fingers for foundation. I received a foundation brush as gwp, what a game changer! Benn using one ever since. Thanks for the info on using sponge for cream blush! They're always a bit challenging, damp sponge sounds like the perfect solution! Appreciate the info!
This was such a great explanation. I often just switch between a brush and sponge with my different foundations but now I know which tool to use for which foundation now. Thanks!!
Everything you said makes so much sense! Love your videos Lisa. Seems everyone uses sponges over brushes but not everyone uses thicker foundations so this video is informative! Thanks
I learned so much. I’ve been doing (my own) makeup for years and didn’t realize how much I was missing. I feel so excited to do my makeup again to apply what I learned! Lol thank you so much!
Thank you for your content. I am older and been wearing makeup for several years. When I was a teenager these type of products, brushed and beauty sponges were not mentioned. I have noticed my daughter using those products. I find myself asking why do you need all those steps. After watching just this one video of yours I understand. I will look for better products when I go shopping.
Thank you!! This was extremely helpful. I kept thinking I should be using either a brush or sponge for my tinted serum, but never liked how it looked when I did that. I prefer applying with my fingers and now I know why it works better this way!! Thank you for your great tips!!
I'm officially addicted Lisa. The second video of yours I've caught in less than six hours. I've been using a sponge. I've learned that the brush is definitely superior for my purpose. I have a beautiful set of brushes and never used the foundation brush. I can't wait to give it a go tomorrow. Thank you again. 😊
This was a great way to explain all of this, and I learned a lot, particularly why most of the kinds of “foundations” I use always look better when I use my fingers to apply and blend them out!
I just started wearing foundation again after giving it a rest for a couple of decades (yes, I said decades! 😊). Coming back to the world of makeup, I was new to beauty blenders and was confused as to when to use what - this helped enormously! PS - I recently made my first brush set purchase with BK Beauty Angie set and am absolutely loving them! BK Foundation brush is next on my wish list, just need to decide 101 or 106. Thankyou again for your content and your kind beauty philosophy! 😘
Another great informational video Lisa! Thank you for the explanation as to when to use a sponge versus a brush. I’ve never heard anybody explain this so succinctly and it makes complete sense. Thank you!
Thank you thank u!! I was using a blender for the longest and wondered why I had to use so much product and still didn’t get the desired results, I began using a brush and instantly saw a difference thank u SO MUCH 😊
Hi Lisa just watch one of your tutorials about the sponge versus the brush versus the fingers.I'm 55 years old so growing up products have changed so much. I do not wear makeup very often. But today I have a very important interview have not worked in very long time and thought maybe look up some tips for using a product I have not ever used before loved the tips looks awesome thank you so much I did subscribe to your channel will be looking forward to more tips. Thank you so much for your videos.
Wow. Ridiculously insightful!! So clear and concise!! You are a born teacher 😍 Thank you so much!! Just found your channel - can’t wait to see what your other videos are like! 💞😘
Thank you for such a great and informative video. I've always used my fingers, but now I think it's time to invest on a good foundation brush. And now I actually know the difference between all three techniques. Awesome informative video!
Thanks for the info! Glad my assumptions were correct with applying tinted moisturizer with my fingers! I’d love to know how to use a makeup brush and not kick up your peach fuzz while applying makeup. I’ve heard that applying foundation in a downward motion helps but I find it difficult to then actually blend the foundation into the skin. Hope you are having a great day!
Really loved this video! Your information about the differences in the tools helped answer questions I’ve had for a long time. Also, your hair looks beautiful! Would you please consider doing a video on how you style it?
I love all your tips and tricks. I really didn't know that damp of a sponge worked like that. I tend to use my fingers. Always nice to wake up and get ready watching your videos 🥰
I'm partial to your 101 brush. I start out with it, and then use a sponge to blend out. When I use a lighter coverage foundation, I actually prefer a sponge. For some reason, it works better on my dry skin. With a tinted moisturizer, yes to fingertips. I still pat afterwards with a sponge. Great idea to use the sponge for cream blush. Thanks Lisa, for such great tips. ❤❤
Thank you so much for these tips. My mom has used the old school sponges or wedge applicators for years. I’ve been trying to get her to change. She wastes so much product. Now it’s my turn to teach her about makeup like she did when I was a teenager.
I love the way you make everything sound easy, even for non English speakers. I am from Spain and I have to say that your chanel is the only American one that I’m suscribed to. It’s really helpfull with both, my English and my makeup
This was so helpful, Lisa! You explain things so well and in such an easy, pleasant way. At 48, I am still a novice with liquid foundation. I never knew to completely soak the beauty sponge before using (not knowing, I first used it dry and then started to barely wet it lol🤭). So I tried out your technique this morning before work and the product went on so much nicer and held up better! Who knew! Would love a tutorial for applying powder foundation/setting powder and for sheer/medium/full coverage. Thank you!!! 🥰💖🌟

I'm so excited to see a professional talk about makeup and how to apply and what to use. I'm 30 and fairly new to applying makeup regularly and using concealer and a sponge for foundation. This video was so helpful and I'm looking for a brush now for my lancome foundation. I love your natural looking makeup. Very classy and exactly what I've been looking for. 🙂

I totally learned something new today- thank you! I didn't know about using the sponge for concealer and thicker foundation, but it makes sense though! I've only been using the IT Cosmetics CC Cream for my foundation lately, and have been LOVING it!! I'll definitely try the sponge for my concealer!
Hi Lisa, I learned to soak and squeeze out the sponge before using -changes the whole experience. Also learned that bb crimes etc should be considered skin care using the fingers

I watched your video first thing this morning. I used your proper brush technique with my foundation. I met a friend for a walk and coffee and her first words were how pretty my skin looked! I couldn’t believe it! So, there you go! I love your videos!
You are a great communicator Lisa. I loved this video. You were very clear in pointing out the benefits of each method. You’re awesome!!!
Thank you.
Ughhhhh, I'm so sorry for your loss!!!!💔 😢 🙏
The 106 is my holy grail brush! Thanks for breaking down these techniques.
I always learn from you Lisa. The part for when to use your fingers! You are absolutely the best 💕
Thank you❤️
So happy to know you are enjoying your makeup brushes! Your support means so much to me and the entire BK Beauty team! Thank you!
Great tips. I knew about wetting the sponge but I never knew why and I really like the way you explained the different areas on the sponge and how to use them.
Newly subscribed. Great video with indepth explanation on when and how to use the correct tool. Thanks Lisa!
Thank you Marlene! Your support means so much to me!
Watching from Merida, Mexico. Many thanks fir your content. I even sent the link to my sister.
Thanks
Thank you Lisa! This video is definitely useful to me, it clarified which tool to use when in doubt. Please keep this tricks and tips videos coming.
I really loved the explanation Lisa! I always learn something helpful from your channel. Thanks for sharing.
You really make the best training videos!!! So informative and entertaining at the same time. Really enjoyed this video, thank you!!! 😁
Avoiding all these will defenitely give you a healthy life.. That's important more than anything :)
Aww thank you!!
Thank you for such a great and informative video. I've always used my fingers, but now I think it's time to invest on a good foundation brush. And now I actually know the difference between all three techniques. Awesome informative video!
Same here!
Lisa, I love this makeup look so much, so light and natural I would love to see how you did it
You just cemented what I've observed & gotten from the MUA on the different sets I've been on. I watch EVERYTHING they do & try & ask why.
THANK YOU!
This is so useful! Been looking for comparison articles or vids. Finally found you. Thank you!
@Lisa J - I just started watching your channel and, this was a fantastic video! I’m 𝘔𝘜𝘊𝘏 𝘔𝘜𝘊𝘏 older than you and, I thought, you would be wearing/loving makeup products that wouldn’t work for a 63 year old! But, I was 𝐻𝐴𝑃𝑃𝐼𝐿𝑌 completely wrong😊!
I just learned for the first time when and what to use with this video!! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video = as a 67 yr old grandmother who is finally getting into better makeup for myself, I have learned so much watching your videos and have purchased some of the products you have recommended. One question - how often do you clean your foundation brush???
I'm so excited to see a professional talk about makeup and how to apply and what to use. I'm 30 and fairly new to applying makeup regularly and using concealer and a sponge for foundation. This video was so helpful and I'm looking for a brush now for my lancome foundation. I love your natural looking makeup. Very classy and exactly what I've been looking for. 🙂
I am loving your 101 foundation brush since discovering over a year ago! I have been wearing foundation for over 50 years and have gone along with all the latest techniques over the years snd finally a no fail combo with Estée Lauder Futurist ( was double wear forever before that) and 101! Agree about bb cream and fingers being the only way. Great video💜
Gr8 video, gave me some good insight. You're never too old to learn.
I'm an older gal, new, back to makeup. I'm so happy to have you guide me through this. It's so informative and helpful. Thank you. I love your brushes and lip products too, bye the way. Go girl!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏼❤️
Loved this! So helpful. I usually use a tinted moisturizer and I thought using my fingers was not the way to go, but now I know better. Thanks!
I totally learned something new today- thank you! I didn't know about using the sponge for concealer and thicker foundation, but it makes sense though! Personally I'm always going to use my hands to apply my foundation because it just turns out more natural looking on me. The warmth of my hands just melts it right in. I've only been using the IT Cosmetics CC Cream for my foundation lately, and have been LOVING it!! I'll definitely try the sponge for my concealer!
We really appreciate how much time and attention you take to provide us with all this information!
I purchased your brushes at Christmas time, I absolutely love the BK 101 brush for applying my foundation!
Yay! Thank you so much Renee!
Hi Lisa, I learned to soak and squeeze out the sponge before using -changes the whole experience. Also learned that bb crimes etc should be considered skin care using the fingers
Hi Lisa. I have been following your videos from past 3 months and I’m beginner to makeup. You videos have transformed my makeup techniques. And this was a highly anticipated video, I was up on you tube trying to search and figure out which tool is best to use for foundation and you have just cleared this topic sooooo well !. Thank you so much 😄
I learned which tool to use with different types of formulas. Thanks Lisa! Very helpful. 🥰
Looking forward to trying out your brush line this year! I made out a list of products and brands I wanted to try in 2022 and your brand was at the top of that list. I have heard nothing but good things about your brushes!
Awesome video I was doing it all wrong. So helpful. Thanks!!!
I thought I was applying my foundation correctly with a sponge but just realized I wasn't and that's why I can't ever get the coverage I want. Thank you for clearing it up! I'm switching to a brush and just ordered the BK Beauty #106!
I a beginner and I Like the way you explain the different ways of applying concealer so I guess I have to try everything but I really enjoyed your presentation
Thank you for going into such good detail. It's appreciated.
Do you have a video explaining how to and how often to wash brushes and sponges as well as drying and storing them?
