0:02 Stephen, I'm glad you did what you did today. A little different day for me, I had cataract surgery on one eye. Now I cant wait to do the other. I'll get to wear regular sunglasses fo the first time in 40 years
Great video what a beautiful day at sea, the fish are slamming the lines it can't get any better that was awesome, yeah barracuda is good eating that to me was a big one the ones I like to keep are about from the bottom of the gills to the tail in size compared to that one / I was needing to see a good fishing video like this one
I love Pacific Barracuda, it's so versatile, also like to smoke it, season and mix with crab meat into patties(or imitation) vacuum bag it for a later cook, cornmeal fish sticks. Soak in apple cider vinegar and milk for a bit then let drain and dry real good for a malty cod like fry battered taste.
So, Stephen, it’s official. My wife and I will be back down south on March 15th. Conway, SC. Near Myrtle Beach. About 20 minutes. Came here to Wisconsin from North Carolina for wife’s family, and can’t wait to get back. If it’s even an option to visit and fish with you, even just from a pier, I’d definitely take a road trip to see you.
Looks delicious! One of my favorite fish to fry and eat is Atlantic sharp nose shark. Cut it into nuggs, and soak it in milk with a little crab boil before you batter it, 🤤👌 taste just like fried catfish.
Can you do a quick how to guide on your plot charter and show how you use it and tips and tricks? I’m new to saltwater fishing out of Pascagoula, Ms and really have never used electronics as I came up freshwater Jon boat fishing. I feel like I could get a lot more out of my device and I’m enjoying how much help you provide in your videos! Good luck!
It matters not how experienced a fisherman you are, no matter how good of health you may think you are in, an accident is still an accident and a medical emergency can come out of left field. With that being said, always wear your PFD. If your buddy goes overboard or if you go overboard that is not the time for “wishing and wanting “ a PFD. I always have on my Mustang inflatable PFD and I not promoting their product. It’s never a hindrance. In my profession I have recovered drowning victims that did not have to drown. Simple as that. I’ve said my piece.
I just noticed your boat is a Clearwater. I’ve had a 2300 CC for the past 7 years. I love it. I looked up cases of Ciguatera a while back and I’m sure there were 0 along the east coast of Florida where I fish. We always used to keep barracuda that size. I can’t convince the group I fish with now to eat them. I take one home for myself once in a while though. I also like that you consider mullet more than just bait. I saw you mention having mullet for dinner a while back. I love fresh mullet. Sorry you ran that far and didn’t get a tuna though. I’d love to see a mullet catch clean and cook.
Thank you, I bought the boat and have put it through its paces and it has really outperformed my expectations! and Barracuda is definitely delicious in the right preparation. Yes, I absolutely love a fresh Mullet! Id take a fried mullet backbone before a snapper fillet!!! Thank you . I did one in this video: th-cam.com/video/rWNksZ_SaKc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for trying different things, Stephen! I've always been a big proponent that there really aren't many "trash" fish in the ocean. Back in my grandpappy's day, black drum were "trash fish". Today? They sell for $20 at a restaurant. I've tried hardhead catfish, alligator gar, and ladyfish. Sure, they may not be as good as redfish (what is?!!), but, prepared properly, they are just as good eats as anything else!!
It all depends on the issue. I have an active Sea Tow membership. I also keep a PLB and extra fresh drinking water aboard along with plenty of life jackets. My VHF antenna reaches the coast guard as well.
Love your videos, and would love to go on a sishing trip with you, if you ever make your way to texas, i know a good spot to catch some king fish, AJ'S and much more.
Awesome fish and what a trip to get there. Wonder how much per pound that meat cost? Ya do NOT want to do that math, but then again you have to allow for the pure enjoyment of the great weather and a good companion on the boat.
Where would u suggest to park my boat down there. I come down a couple times a month and need a spot to leave it outta water. Just don't like to trailer it that far every time I come down. 21 ft cc stratos.
Hey brother question for you, how often would you say you eat fish you catch? And would you be willing to get the mercury levels tested in your blood and make a video about it? I fish down here in south Texas. Retired 10mtn/25ID 🤙🏻
Thanks for your service, I eat fish pretty often, but mostly smaller species! I like McDonalds and Evan Williams so no telling what would be in my blood LOL
When it comes to mercury and fish one of the fish ranked highest in concern is actually Tuna, and they do recommend not eating it everyday and so on but funny enough no one pays much attention to that because its everyone's favorite fish

@BamaSaltwater nice that engine is definitely economical I have a old hydrasport 20ft cc with a 225 v6 evinrude it also holds 85 gallon and they are bulletproof engines but i get half the mpg you do its old technology I'm trying to get a bigger boat maybe 26-28ft with twins on it just need to save another couple of Penny's first lol
Barracuda are excellent. When you get them trimmed out the fillets are beautiful. Far superior to Kings. I just wish I could catch more of them. The large wrecks they like are a little too far for my 17 footer. With the regs being so screwed up here in Florida you have to eat fish that in the past you would have thrown back. In the case of Barracuda though no way are they a trash fish to me.
Man that is like six hours total, out and back. How many hours do you fish? Where did all the fish go bro.? I can't afford that much oil to fry my anything. Barracuda is a nice dodge, and has alot of heavy metal in it reported too. 😂 and you must of heard the lemon song.
I wish I could make a trip down there. Being 90% bedridden tells me I can't. But watching your videos helps a lot. I only wish I could eat the fish with you. I've owned boats since 1984. Haven't seen mine in about 7 years or so. Man I wish I could hang.
Stephan met you at the Fort Morgan boat launch the other day! You are the real deal for sure, so kind to everyone😊.
It was a pleasure talking with you!! Thanks for the support!

Ive always said that the ability to have good vision should be a privilege !! Awesome and I'm proudfor you!
Caught a few barracuda off of Carolina Beach last summer. Fish was absolutely delicious. Definitely an underrated eater.
Thanks for taking us fishing and sharing your lunch with us today.
As the saying goes, “Don’t knock it til you try it.” Great video man! God bless.
100% thank you. God Bless!

Word of advice to those who don't know: No matter how cute and cuddly fire ants may seem, don't EVER try to pet them. They don't like that.
🤣
Yeah tried that once😂
Ok thx ☺️
Glad to see someone with you that far out
Definitely wouldn't wanna be out there solo for pure safety reasons

Come to the Gulf Coast for the fishing, leave due to the outrageous cost of homeowner's insurance!😢

I know it’s not is a old video, but I’ve been cooking with big Mike’s ap seasoning also, it’s the sugar in it burning,
Please do a video on your knife maintenance. I've found that being my biggest hurdle with all the sheepshead and snapper I clean
Great video! Who knew about barracuda! Will try it.
Love your channel. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Thank you, it's worth a try in certain conditions!
How many hours did that take to get there?
Is there a video showing how to rig those pier rods like the knots and weights you use
Great and your content is aging like wine brotha🤙🏼

Hey Stephen from San Diego California USA 🇺🇸
Just curious what do you do when/if you break down way out there by yourself?
It all depends on the issue. I have an active Sea Tow membership. I also keep a PLB and extra fresh drinking water aboard along with plenty of life jackets. My VHF antenna reaches the coast guard as well.
Sweet 🎉
Back to the roots man!!!!

Great vid, from an inexperienced boater, how much gas you go through on a run like that ?
about 65 gallons on this trip.
Have you ever tried chalula hot sauce? I was never a hot sauce person but love it.
I like Chalula but I really like Tapatio
Barracuda is a very tasty fish, made my mouth water watching this video. Your pronunciation of Worcestershire is spot on mate!
Thanks I really is!

Definitely cheaper to buy a fillet at the fish market haha. But you cant buy that experience though ;)

Call J and M Tackle and see if they have any open storage spots!
We catch a ton of those stink missiles out of Texas but never eat em. May have to try one.
Worth a try if in the right area
@@BamaSaltwater evidently so. We tend to catch them around floating rigs when fishing for tuna. A lot of them turn into chum

Bass Fishing!
Bait
Pls what's that fish bag? What does it do to the fish

How long does it take to run 70 miles out from shore? I have no idea how fast boats actually move!
About 2 hours. It depends on how much fuel you want to conserve and the sea conditions.
How big is your fuel tank
Fresh from the gulf of mesico

In Jamaica we love eating barracuda..🤤one love bra!..🇯🇲👊🏿
Is it true. This type of fish is very fast right?
Pretty fast yes!
