    After hearing you say to use PK thunder with my eyes closed(even though I don’t use the PK boys), I now know I want you specifically to make more tutorials. That’s a level of depth to help with learning that most people don’t try to teach, and it’s great.

      @@ogbobbyjohnson3502 As a fellow OG, I am disappointed in your lack of perspective awareness. What if instead of a hand cam you had that controller thing like ZeRo has on his stream? It shows all the buttons/sticks and shows when/where he presses them. Might look cooler/neater on the video. Idk how you could set it up though

    • @wanderingrandomer
      @wanderingrandomer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      I find ZeRo's set-up to be kinda hard to tell what buttons are being pushed when, because it all happens so fast. At least with handcam, you can actually see the movements of the hand, which is useful if you struggle with inputting consistently like I do.

    • @icypengin3502

    This video has really opened my eyes. Practicing my recovery has helped me immensely with edge guarding. I even kind of adapted your practice regimen to help with a really bad habit that I've had ever since I was an 8 year old kid playing Melee. I used to burn my second jump way too early so of course this means I could never get the courage/confidence to go in deep to edge guard. So In addition to what you went over in this video, I've been practicing running straight off a ledge without jumping, fairing, and then jumping back up to the ledge. I can't stop saying how much this has helped. Thanks so much!

    You put a lot of thought into your videos, and you approach the game the same way I do in terms of testing. It's a refreshing mindset that allows one to learn better because you entertain the many possibilities that naturally come to mind, rather than people like Zero and Leffen who ramble. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this Jtails, keep it up!

    This was actually a great idea. Most of the time people don't really do any tutorials on improving recovery as it's usually assumed players already know their respective characters enough to not need it. And the only exceptions being special recoveries like Link's bombs or Wario's bike etc; since most other characters don't have recoveries like them.
    While this is definitely for those players new to the game and want to improve on a competitive level, it's still a good piece of information.

It's so hard to remember to do things like that and and fast fall and short hop and short hop fast fall nair etc etc. The game has such simple button mashing but damn there's so many subtle things you can do that its hard to keep track of all of it in the middle of a fast paced battle ;(

    I find that characters with teleporting up B's, like Palutena, Mewtwo, Zelda, etc are the hardest for me to get consistently if I'm not pressing a cardinal or intercardinal direction on the joystick (where the little dents are) since you get very little info about where your trajectory is going until you, uh, finish teleporting and that's too late. Or rather, it's hard to tell what exactly happened differently when I think I made the same input twice (and I know I went roughly the same depth down before jumping) but one time you make it and the second you don't rip

    Great video. Been looking for a youtuber to teach me this stuff
    I’ve always been a casual player but would like to get better at smash ultimate.
    Do the 6 different up-B motions apply to ganondorf too?

    I think I missed something when you mentioned about characters ending up facing the wrong way when recovering.
    In order to prevent that, do I have to do a directional airdodge first, then jump towards the stage?

      Prot07ype no, you just need to reverse your up b by flicking the control stick the opposite way as soon as you up b.

      But directional airdodge then jumping is optional.

    Not only would doing pkthunder with your eyes closed help you perfect the rhythm, you'll also be able to do it from off screen where you really don't have any visual on it anyway
    and being able to do that sure has save me a stock on more than one occasion

    Just wondering why you didn't talk about tether recoveries? I'm a Richter main and would love to learn any tether recovery tricks you might know of.

    i got a question about the Extended Recovery Jtails:
    what if i use a forward diagonal airdodge instead of side airdodge so i can gain a bit more height to move more horizontaly and get back from the stage if im a bit lower than what it is shown in the video?
    will i move more horizontally? will i move less? is it better or worse than straight side airdodge?

    The directional airdodge is based on the distance traveled, it seems. Jigglypuff and fox recovered at the same point on the grid. Fox hit that point faster because he falls faster.

    Do you think you could do a video on evading attacks then punishing effectively. Maybe what I am saying is essentially just the "nuetral". I'm pretty new to this game and tend to struggle with how to attack.

    I'm normally pretty good at this, but now i'm having trouble with mewtwo's teleport. Between the loss of the magnet hands, and the fact that i changed my controller, i end up just a little bit below the ledge, or just above it when i'm recovering horizontally.
    Also, i have to get used to using teleport from a fastfall and from the start of his double jump. Those things really do change how i have to do it.

    Quick question from a beginner: How does one deal with a DAIR (spike) from opponent when recovering? For example, Samus' DAIR against Link. It seems like my UP Special 360 loses every time.

    when you brought up recovery exploits you should have mentioned something like how inkling can get horizontal movement from the paint roller and an extra jump since u can exit it with jump but doesnt have it count towards your 2 jumps that you would normally get. example: use paint roller off stage. jump to exit then jump and jump again and B+^ and you still have air dodge left over if you need it. zero i think it was talked about it in a video he recently did on inkling. its honestly mental how much distance and play you have off stage by using that method

    • @JulesTrades
      @JulesTrades  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah definitely. I'll touch upon it in my Inkling specific video but this is meant more as a general guide overall.

    in regards to reverse up b's, i think you can diagonally up b in the opposite direction your fighter is facing, and it will do make your character switch the side he is facing and up b together, then you can input forward or back depending on if you want vertical or horizontal up b. it's been working for me, any reason not to do it that way?
