Thankyou! I've had this on my watch list for quite sometime and am grateful to have listened to it - love philosophy but shit at sticking to books. I was sad when the book ended and found the history of Nietzsche fascinating and sad, I felt for him in his worst moments. Also enjoyed the narrator, at first I was disappointed it wasn't Botton reading but, enjoyed Simmons reading of the Republic prior.
Now is your dutty not to stay on the surface of a soundly phrase, not to conform just with the mere vague deceitful aforism, that's what everybody wrongly does considering themselves inteligent and wise enough to transform themselves just by reading a good looking phrase. You have to go deeper, understand why that phrase is true and why is lie and crunch your knowledge until it becomes a real feeling in your guts that traumatizes you so it makes you change. Don't conform with just getting surprised.
A negative verdict of another's relationship potential as realized via the sapping of all sexual desirability held for them. Awesome. Also, no Boethius?!?!?! But I understand Alain a huge advocate of him.... And of course, the title of this book....?
