whenever I hear this theme sometimes I feel like one of those movie characters that gets entranced into something and just stares at something and needs to be shaken awake
The object before which the space suited man was posing was a vertical slab of jet-blacked material, about ten feet high and five feet wide; it reminded Floyd, somewhat ominously of a giant tombstone. Perfectly-sharp-eched and symmetrical it was so black it seemed to have swallowed up the light falling upon it(...)"my colleagues and I, doctor Floyd, will stake our reputation on this. T.M.A.-1 (red. The monolith) has nothing to do with the Chinese. Indeed it has nothing to do with the human race--for when it was buried, there were no humans." 'You see, it is approximately three million years old. What you are now looking at is the first evidence of intelligent life beyond the Earth.'
Some people wonder why choose such composition for the monolith, well, as Lovecraft said "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." There is something far more deep, about this, the Monolith not only promoted evolution, but judged it, dispassionately, a species found wanting would be wiped out, this was not mere suposition, in the saga there are at least 2 explicit instances when the Monolith decides to annihilate all life in a system. And yet, the Monolith may also represent the path of Mankind, this means compressed within its notes and form, which expands beyond 4 dimensions, it's not just every atrocity done by man, but every act of heroism and selflessness, every feat of sciences and arts which would awe, the very capacity to feel not just love and respect but awe.
Its part of the movie, this song plays during a scene where some researchers are near a (the?) monolith after (re)discovering it on the moon. When the monolith starts doing its monolith-thing the characters suffer from sudden headaches and the ringing noise is heard
Anyone know what this is called, musically? When a bunch of people sort of chant in harmony like this? They do it in Star Wars Sith Theme song as well.
This always plays when I stare my cold beer in the freege after a day of work...
omg lol
You clearly know how to have fun with life. I toast to you, sir.
Me looking at my car keys after drinking 3 bottles of Jack Daniels:
This sounds like something you would use in a supernatural horror film
Well I have news for you about what kind of film originally used it haha
@@PuckLokin yeah this film is scary as fuck.

And so began the odyssey
I fully experienced this song during an acid trip. It was horrifying.
Existence is contained horror
@@chompythebeast Around the 3 min mark.... Dante couldn't tell me shit about the 9 hells.
You must be crazy!!!
Reminds me of the witch's theme from LFD2
relaxing audio to fall asleep to
Me holding a gun behind my back, knowing damn well those Girl Scouts are skin walkers
Me when someone seems very trusting in dayz with their back to me
⚠️You startled the Witch
The music in my head when my sleep paralysis demon comes
Tell me about it 🙃
"HE ALWAYS BETRAYS THEM. ALWAYS."
Yesssssssuh 🎉🙏🏼🕯
This will play when we make first contact with sentient, alien life.
This is what a panic attack sounds like
That tight suffocating enclosing feeling.
This songs scares me everytime, and I don't know why

Me staying up really late having no idea what time it is.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 referenced this... *_A LOT._*
Very interesting! Almost sounds like voices! Eerie!
hmmmmm I wonder if this is because singing is, in fact, voices.

opera
Godzilla
symbi-harmonic choral chanting
My minds soundtrack.
Listened to it, am not at the next stage of human evolution.
When you die, your whole life flashes before your eyes. When you enter "their" territory, the whole life of the universe flashes before your eyes.
The "i am ozymandias" speech would go hard with this soundtrack
Still trying to find the name of this song….
