- Garlic has many cardiovascular health benefits. When garlic is chopped or crushed many chemical changes take place. The production of allicin and other natural compounds in garlic relax blood vessels, reduce clogged arteries (fibrinolytic properties), and have anti-inflammatory effects, which lower blood pressure and benefit heart health.
Clogged arteries result from the build-up of a substance called plaque in the arterial walls. It is also medically referred to as arterial plaque. This plaque can reduce blood flow or even block it altogether.
Clogged arteries increase your risk of developing other health complications like a heart attack or stroke.
Some of the most common risk factors for clogged arteries are:
High levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) or low levels of HDL (good cholesterol)
A high blood pressure
Smoking tobacco
Diabetes or elevated blood sugar levels
A family history of atherosclerosis or clogged arteries
Stress
Obesity
A sedentary lifestyle
Most cases of clogged arteries do not exhibit any symptoms until a heart attack or blood clot presents itself. However, in cases where 70% or more of the arteries are blocked, you will notice the following symptoms.
Severe cases of clogged arteries may exhibit symptoms like:
Shortness of breath
Sweating
Nausea
Chest pain or angina
Palpitations of the heart
Dizziness
Weakness

God bless you doc. My grandmother lived to 95 , she drink a glass of garlic water every day as she got older in her 70s.
You can drink WATER and GARLIC 🧄 powder " LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE" add pinch black pepper.😅 Soak in water 🥤💦 and drank
God bless your grandmother! It’s amazing how simple habits like drinking garlic water can contribute to long-term health. Garlic is known for its numerous health benefits, including boosting the immune system and promoting heart health. It’s great to hear that she lived such a long and healthy life!
Thank you. I have been told eating raw garlic is good for you, but no one ever told me about chopping it and letting it sit to get the most benefit.
When I was a Kid(Born 1951) we would toast a hard stile dark farmers bread and rub the clove onto the bread loaf(the loaf was like sandpaper), then spread butter and a pinch of salt
Yes, chopping or crushing garlic and letting it sit for about 10-15 minutes before consuming it allows an enzyme called alliinase to form allicin, which is the active compound responsible for many of garlic's health benefits. This process can enhance its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it more effective. Just be sure to enjoy it in moderation, as raw garlic can be quite potent!
@@WillyK51Sounds like my Catalan grandmother’s classic “pa’ amb tomaquet”(bread with tomato). After rubbing the garlic clove over the toasted bread she would rub half a very ripe tomato over it,squeezing out the pulp and juices, then drizzle the bread with olive oil and a bit of salt. Delicious with cold cuts! She lived to 93, mostly in good health😊.
@@OsmanthusFlower Sounds amazing. Never tried it, Eat tomato almost everday,As well as Bell Pepers(Pimenton rojo maduro y dulce con una pizca de sal).
Wouldn't miss mine every afternoon, chopped and let to oxigenate 10 mins. At 72 with high blood pressure this is saving my life for the last 8 years now....😊💥🙏
So Jim do you take the garlic with your tablet as well?
@paulinewilliams-currey5176 nope, I do the raw cloves, unless I am outside, then a capsule...
To hear that this routine has been helping you for the past 8 years is truly inspiring! It’s amazing how simple habits, like chopping and letting food oxygenate, can make a big difference in managing health. Always great to see someone taking charge of their wellness, especially with high blood pressure. Keep up the good work and take care!
TY 71 going to try 😊
Are you also on medication
I eat Garlic daily. Sometimes I may skip a day but. I take it💯
That's great! Garlic is known for its many health benefits, including supporting heart health and boosting the immune system. It’s good that you’re consistent, but even if you skip a day now and then, it’s the overall habit that counts. Keep it up, and remember to balance your diet with other healthy foods too!
Same here
I chop one clove and leave it in a glass for 12 to 15 minutes and add grated ginger , cayenne pepper 🌶️ and turmeric and olive oil and apple cider vinegar and black pepper ground and add half lemon juice and hot water and down it goes in the empty stomach in the morning my cholesterol is down from 7 to5 now and his advice is amazing 🤩
I like this concoction. What are the measurements.
@ one quarter tea spoon cayenne pepper and one quarter tea spoon turmeric and one tablespoon of olive oil and one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one half inch of ginger any variation will not to any harm except your cardiologist will for sure get a HEART ❤️ ATTACK because all the patients will not visit the cardiologist because they don’t need him or her
WOW

Can I take garlic pills to avoid constant bas breath
@Marilyn-yy1eb Unfortunately, garlic pills are lacking the nutrients from real garlic.....
@@Marilyn-yy1eb eat it raw.. don't count on some powder to do it wonders
That sounds like a delicious and healthy salad dressing! Garlic, lemon juice, sea salt, and olive oil not only add great flavor but also have numerous health benefits. A perfect addition to any salad for both taste and nutrition!
I take a whole clove once a day, when I can, with my meal (raw) with a meal. I skip a day or so sometimes. I love it! ❤
Glad I didn't pass on this one. Didn't know about the 7-10min.
That's the important part
I did this all through the plandemic. I never got covid or even a sniffle whilst all my friends and co workers got it 2 or 3 times, I credit the garlic..
I once knew a 82 year old German man that moved next door to us in Australia and he chewed on Garlic everyday, he rode a pushbike everywhere and was fit as a fiddle, he also like Sour crout and all sorts of German health foods
@@dalesmith4985 It is sauerkraut, I think...
You didn't get COVID because you blood group is probably O , sure not B !
@@zalehantI know it is sauerkraut and its bubbly goodness is a probiotic to the garlic which is a prebiotic.
I LOVE THIS GUY! Merry Christmas Doc 🎄👍
I take dozens of supplementary herbs and spices every day but if I only had to take 1, it would be garlic. You won’t feel the difference when taking it but when you stop taking it you’ll feel the difference. I crush it and remove the skin, leave it for 10 min and then swallow it whole.
Make it a great day ❤️
before food?
Does it upset your stomach when you eat it raw?
God bless you Doctor Mandel keep on sending us your wonderful videos on our health
Luv dr Mandela. He keeps us healthy
I chop 4-5 cloves with fresh tomatoes, olive oil, oregano and a little sea salt 3-4 times a week, its so delicious😊 I know that sounds like a lot of garlic but I can handle it fine.
I chop it into tiny pieces, say 1/16" squares, and then sprinkle it on my already cooked food.
In this manner as you chew, the garlic gets cushioned by the food and so, you don't smush the garlic in your mouth, so you don't release its pungent flavor as you eat.
Scrambled eggs, pizza, steak, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, pork chops, sandwiches, literally any food. Cushion it with food and you don't taste it or at least it isn't pungent!
I do this always (sprinkle finely chopped garlic on my foods), you can barely notice the garlic that you've added into your diet. You can sprinkle it on pretty heavy too.
Try it you'll like it, it works!
thanks for posting. I know I need garlic to be in better health but its so strong to just eat on its own. I'm trying this.
@@Ryoko007 It'll work, enjoy! A regular kitchen knife like you use to butter your toast cuts garlic just fine, no need to bleed.
I cut it in lengthwise strips while holding it together and then cross cut all the strips at once. Doesn't always work perfectly but you'll get it. Then just sprinkle it on your food. Merry Christmas Cheers: Robert
Thank you for that tip about garlic doctor mandell I will tell my friend's and family, happy Christmas to you and your family. 😊 ❤❤❤
I just made soup & added garlic and ginger. This is my cold medicine! Mahalos from Hawaii, Dr. Mandell, you're such a treasure! God bless you!
Originally, Allicin can fight against inflammation, and to combine it with honey, lemonade, yogurt, peanut butter, salad, etc., can offset those pungent smell and taste! What a good idea and lesson! Thanks, Dr. Alan Madell, I'll give such a combination a try to recover the past habit of taking a small piece of garlic sometimes.
Yes, it's awesome! Also, it may be easier in a bowl of salad.
Thank You Dr. Alan Mandell, for Keeping Us Healthy and Well , Alive?❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can normally eat a clove straight. However, I didn't know about the letting it air for the 7-10 minutes. Thank you for the advice!
Doesn't it burn your mouth ?
@@johnburrows3385 no
Sometimes, but it's tolerable to me.
Sometimes. But it's burn doesn't last long.
@@johnburrows3385 If you chop it up and swallow it with a glass of water its not bad at all , Chewing it is another thing !
Great info as always Doc! We crush enough garlic to fill up about ½ to ¾ of a Ball jar, then pour raw local honey over it, stir, place something over the top without tightening it down to let any gasses escape, and just let it sit out for a week or two before we start taking it. Definitely helps cut down on the spiciness. Been taking a spoonful of it every morning for the past few years, literally haven't gotten sick since, even when around someone who is obviously sick.
How much honey and garlic do you use?
What's a ball jar?
@@krystal3822canning jar.. Mason jar
@krystal3822 it's just a basic canning jar, the brand is called Ball Mason jar. Ours is approximately 16oz, but they come in various sizes. First we press enough garlic to fill the jar ½ or ¾ full of just the garlic. For our 16oz jar it takes maybe 30-40 cloves (I'm guessing) Then pour the honey so that fills the jar and then mix the garlic in. There's plenty of videos on TH-cam and Instagram if you search " Garlic Honey ". Some people slice their garlic and put it in. I don't like doing it that way because the pressed garlic is easier to swallow with the honey than swallowing slices.

I use garlic and lemon grass fir cold and flu
Thank for the other tips
Dear Doc. Thank you for such useful information. I eat a clove of grated garlic on an empty tummy first thing in the morning together with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil ❤
If you put the crushed garlic on a spoon and put into your mouth and swollow quickly with some juice and you won't have garlic breathe etc
U still have to chew it so the body absorbs it
@realtalk8813 no, you've already crushed and chopped it up so no need to chew.
Crush, wait, and swallow with liquid. if you take it that way right before a meal, the food pushes it through and no garlic breath.
This is what I do everyday but I swallow it quickly with half cup of water
@@pegsmith8401Digestion starts In the mouth. You have to chew it.

The easiest and tastiest ways to eat raw garlic:
1. rub your toast with it.
2.mix with one or two TBSp of plain yogurt or Kefir, a pinch of your favorite spices, and a pinch of salt. DELISHES.
I chop up 2-3 cloves and mix it with an avocado and lime juice or hommus works great with a little bread and olive oil

Doc, is there Any news regarding benefits of papaya seeds
You're amazing!
I agree with the title. But the truth is also that it keeps other people away because of the bad odour. :)
😅😅 I don’t have a problem with that 😬
I worked in long-term care and I had a patient once that always ate a lot of garlic. I could be sitting at the nurse's station and I knew he was coming up the hall cuz you could smell him halfway up the hall before he even got to the desk he just reeked of it not just his breath his whole body odor just reeked of it.
Never mind,eh?maybe you didnt smell that sweet
Garlic goes down well with Peanut butter too.
Thank you. Season's greetings.
I did this daily and never found employment. 😮
