I didn't like the trailer that much so I put off watching it for awhile, but it blew me away. Definitely recommend it.

Fortunately I have just watched this film.... And i really really loved it
I loved that movie, too. Reminded me of growing up with my best buddy and partner in crime. She lived in shouting distance! We had an adventure everyday while barefoot every summer. And we too had a wonderful time building our own treehouse made out of young pine trees that were the easiest to chop down. That’s where we could hideout from our older siblings- in the woods of Shongaloo, Louisiana in the ArkLaTex area. Thanks for sharing this story.

Love the black and white in these interviews/videos. I really wished I had seen this film now, I kept seeing it pop up on my list and never did watch it. I love films that are true to real life and tells a story that I can relate with, it truly inspires me to think about things differently and to open my mind more. God bless ya Matthew. That treehouse that WAS 15 miles outside of Longview, is now a Discount Tire.
My treehouse succumbed to natural causes in them there woods!

I started reading your book a couple of days ago and got to the part about the lumber and the tree house. My mind immediately went to Mud and I started debating whether or not to pop it in and give it another watch. Now after this video, I think I will.

@@22lilacsky it’s called Greenlights, it came out not too long ago. I’m only about a quarter of the way through it but so far it’s a mix of self help and short stories from his youth.
@@Micah__ Hi there, thank you. I will for sure check it out. I love reading about the history of where folks come from. Right now I'm reading Rodney Dangerfield's bio book which is truly fascinating to read how hard he worked to get as far as he did and also helped several other comedians. I honestly love famous people that never forget where they came from and it's sad to say that most are not like that but I highly respect the one's that do.
Man, so many good films! I recently rewatched We Are Marshall. Tragic. Inspiring. Great cast. We need more films like these. Keep up the good work!

Mud is easily one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I could watch it every single day and never get bored of it.
I grew up in Longview,TX as well (Spring Hill) I too live in the Austin TX. area currently. I can say unequivocally East Texas was magical as a kid and I have the best of memories and to this day the scent of pine instantly warms the heart and puts a smile on my face!
Mud is in my top 3 films of all time. Very, very special film to me. Matthew and everyone in it was exceptional.

Mud is one of my favourite films from our generation. Stellar cast and it came out right in the middle of Mathew’s career high run (Dallas Buyers, Interstellar, True Detective, Killer Joe, Wolf of Wall Street, The Lincoln Lawyer, Paperboy, Bernie, Magic Mike, White Boy Rick & Gold
One of the best movies of our time.
It's so rare these days. But you sir are still getting it right.
Dallas Buyers club & Mud are in my top 5 along with there will be blood, legends of the fall and no country for old men.

I had always been rather critical of MM’s acting abilities; range , depth, credibility of the characters he played. All that changed when I saw Dallas Buyers Club. He completely drew me in with his stellar performance. Great respect for his artistic skills and his philosophical outlook on life in general. I lived in SPRING HILL (now a part of Longview) from '78 to '82 and there was a similar wooded area behind our house that I almost lived in. Exploring around oil wells...building clubhouses out of stolen lumber from a development on the other side of the woods...feels like kids don't do these things now.

That sounds like a trip. Straight up scary, 19 stories high. Me and my friends were doing the same but like 10 ft off the ground. We had a period were we stayed up there all day, and then one day we kinda stopped, i think my friend's dad tore down the tree house, but it was really more a tripod design, no walls or ceiling.

I work in Longview, around where his treehouse was. I love being in East Texas.
I lived less than a mile from Lake o’ the Pines Dam worked in Longview a few years. I sure muss the clean air and of course you can really see the changing of the seasons. Miss the summers on the lake camping, fishing, boating, swimming❤️‼️
Read his Book “Greenlights”. It’s a game changer...amazing story of his youth and journey.👏👏👏
