Here Is video 1 or 4 in a tips and tricks series to help answer a lot of the common questions. Plane selection and strategies on upgrading your planes.
Be aware you can switch to a different plane in your squadron. Photos of the planes of your wingman are taped to your panel and show flares and bombs carried by them. Tap on the desired plane. Start with a dogfighter. Wipe out nearby flak with a dogfighter with powerful machine guns while your squad distracts fighters. When the AA is clear, take out fighters. Then switch to a goundpounder loaded with flares (and bombs) to take out buildings and cruisers and destroyers. I like a squadron with 3 dogfighters (agile), 1 hybrid (some flares but decent maneuverability) and 1 ground pounder (sluggish but lots of flares or even some bombs).
Dogfighter. Great turning ability. It's easier to turn and get behind a circling enemy fighter. Groung pounder. Sluggish amd slow but armed with a lot of flares and maybe even some bombs. Can more easily take out ground targets but is vulnerablein dogfights. Bomber hunters. Speedy and can catch up to bombers that slip past you. Powerful machine guns to take down big planes quickly. Can hold their own against a fignter. Hybrid. Carries some flares but a little more nimble and speedy than a ground pounder. A decent but not great dogfighter. A decent but not great ground pounder.

Once I choose “Campaigns and Multiplayer “ the menu opens to choose which side, after choosing I then end up in a plane in flight. What’s up with that? I can’t seem to get the menu to make the choice of plane.
If it is your first time opening the game it might just be kicking you off in the starter plane flight. After you do the first mission in the starter plane it gets you loaded up into the menus.
Pause the video right on 5:32 and if you see right up on the top left of the middle board you’ll see a paintbrush as selecting through the planes that you purchased. That is where you can customize your planes colors and decorations.
Do some of the campaign missions. Each mission has a side objective that’ll give a significant cash bonus, usually it doubles the normal reward. The side objective targets will be marked as red icons, main ones are yellow.
Do the side objectives in the campaign. They’ll be marked as red, the handbook in the cockpit also shows the side objective. The reward is always significant, usually doubling the normal reward.

I used to play warbirds when I was a kid on one of those big ass dial up computers. Now I'm playing it in vr, with similar graphics but 100% worth it

Nice tips but perhaps move a little slower - the views are really jerky and hard to follow especially on the ground talking about options.
Can you reverse the right thumb joystick we are pushing up makes the plane go up and pushing down makes the plane go down?
