Michael Bendis, the writer of this story says that the only reason thor was able to kill Sentry was because Robert temporally took over the body back from the void, and asked to die, he even though about adding a scene where spider-woman says, he wouldn't have died, if he hadn't wanted to. So this was not anything thor did, but all Sentry.
This shows how powerful Thor is when he's not holding back . Sentry is world war hulk level

It bugs me how Norman is depicted as almost powerless without the Patriot armour in thus series. He still had his Goblin strength and could have made a better attempt at escaping.
I thought it was cool how, after Sentry always threw stuff into the sun, Thor puts Sentry's body in the sun.
Imagine if Sentry, Blue Marvel, Hulk, Hyperion, Gladiator, Thor and Hercules teamed up...

Sentry did never really die, Void never let it happen. Hulk and Sentry got basic unlimited strength while Thor get stronger the older he get but get to a limited, even with odin force or rune king thor.
None of the writer really care about Sentry so he get never a good comic about him. However For those who want a other timeline of this the exist a comic call " What If 200 " of this war event.
And just before Cates did Sentry dirty, Sentry was flying through the head of venomized Celestials. The dude was a powerhouse that had to be whorf effect'd because he's just too much for most stories. Reminds me of The Flash in that way.

He defeated molecule man after molecule man ripped him from existence and learned he could manipulate matter.
He is one second ahead of time, which puts him in a sort of phased reality. He is here but not really, hence he can never really die.
BUT, he has severe mental issues as he's caused so much collateral damage and can lose control easily and has become agoraphobic.
He is a tormented god that wants to help but doesn't want to lose control and break reality or something insane. He has supportive friends that accept that and help him. The Sentry was a great metaphor for some people's real life struggles. Hence why his fans are so picky.

Sentry is inspired by Superman. Therefore, he also marvels Superman. Mf wears a Cape, S symbol on him, his powers derived from the serum which contains( You guessed it) suns. All of them. Gladiator, hyperion, sentry, and blue marvel are marvel versions of Superman.

They should have more Asgardian characters on earth, like siblings. & A new hybrid Honey Badger x Gamma monster that learns under Bruce/Hulk. Like we can get a fresh new Team that's not the Avengers, but Mixed of Mutants, Asgardians and street heroes 😤🔥😊
Thor needs to have the power of the 'god smack' which in a nutshell is the ability to smack his opponent with the palm of his open hand so hard that they literally become 'UNDONE'.

He did, and he was in a weakened state and still holding back because they are good friends. He essentially beat the hulk out of banner. This is terrible writing.
The sentry only dies if he wants. And he is never really dead, it's like sleeping for him, he can will himself back, and if not him, his dark side "the void" would never allow it.
The Sentry destroyed molecule man after molecule man erased him from existence and learned he can manipulate matter. He is a universal threat that just wants to be his regular self mostly.
That's why fans of the original sentry series get so pissed when he is downplayed or screwed with because of bad writing. He may be a god, but he is tormented and has agoraphobia and a litany of mental disorders. It's why he was so interesting, he has to overcome his own serious issues to face the world.
@@fd35g3 Not quite. During their fight, Sentry gleefully said Hulk was "the only one I can hit like this..." meaning Sentry did not have to hold back at all, and he didn't. By the end, both were beaten back to their human forms, but neither was victorious. I do agree, however, it was terrible writing. Same kind of terrible writing that ruined last year's Hulk vs. Thor mini-series that was supposed to settle, once and for all, who was superior. The ending was pathetic and nothing was truly settled.

I thought there was something about the heroes saying both were holding back to keep from destroying earth? I barely remember, but didn't he also use some sort of calming light on him? Either way, that was some amazing story telling. Especially him standing in his front door for hours trying to go outside to fight, the avengers being kind and encouraging him to try. What a good run WWH was.

I dont like that ending. If Thor could oneshot him with a bolt, he could have done that from the start. I think Marvel could have done something a little more creative to kill the void at the end, espcially considering how powerful he is.

But what was subsequently done with him took him light years from everything else that makes Superman, Superman. The character should never have been brought back IMO.
