  • In this first video, we restore an Apple PowerMac G3 300 MHz (also known as "Smurf" because of its characteristic blue color). A machine that marked a new point in the history of Apple Macintosh for its design, the work of Jonathan Ive, and for its technological advances back in 1999: folding door for easy access, FireWire ports, DVD ROM, USB 1.1 ... and by removing the floppy drive.
It is not a restoration "to use", we wanted to differentiate ourselves, be different, be more original than the rest of the channels and we have used the ASMR process, from the English "Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response". It is a subjective experience triggered by auditory and / or visual stimuli for the observer, we will try to "satisfy" your mind during the restoration process without using anything other than the sounds produced during the process: no voices, no distractions ... a couple of annotations so as not to lose the thread and understand the methodology used.
In this case we were lucky since the G3 had been formatted and had a clean OS and the hard disk and other components in good condition. The RAM has given some problems, but with an old-school trick it has been solved ... after a first start-up and a subsequent search for parts and exterior plastics on different websites, we have recovered the spare parts of a donor machine sold as for parts or scrapping.
    Few tools are really needed:
    Clean cotton cloth
    Window cleaner or similar
    Torx key set
    Star screwdriver
Canister of compressed air to remove solid waste
We hope you enjoy the process as we have done, greetings !.

En el minuto 14:27 se utiliza una goma staedtler para mejorar los contactos. ¿ Se puede también utilizar una goma de la marca Milan?
