I seen chrissy n divinyls in nsw australia in many pubs n clubs and id never seen so many guys show up in one place wherever they played divinyls were amazing an beautiful chrissy rip ❤️✌️🇦🇺
shedding a tear listening to this, not just for the sad loss of chrissy at such a young age but also for the memories from that era and all the other people ive known personally that are no longer here.. and seriously thinking they just dont make em like they used to eh, australian music in the 70s and 80s was on fire
I don't want to sound like today's Aussie artists are no good. But in the 70s and 80s, we were absolutely holding our own in the rock world. The Angels, AC/DC, The Screaming Jets, The Divinyls, Midnight Oil, INXS, Cold Chisel, Rose Tattoo, Icehouse, Men at Work, Australian Crawl, Mental as Anything. I could keep going... and I will. Hoodoo Gurus, Crowded House, Mondo Rock, Boom Crash Opera, Noiseworks, Skyhooks, The Choirboys and many others. What an era!
I had a crush on Chrissy. As a security officer i worked on the set of COUNTDOWN, and got to see the DIVINYLS live along with others. Just loved her performances.
They were great, RIP Chrissy. A true story for you all. My drummer back in the late 80s was offered a job touring with her. He turned it down.. bet he regrets that :).
So glad they finally had a smash hit all around the world and Chrissy is immortalized for ever . To me one of the most underrated bands in OZ . How they never cracked the US in the 80s is beyond me .
I get such a nostalgic pang, absolutely loved her then and even more watching her later struggle and the duality of her onstage persona and the quiet and reserved lady she was in her private life but both held together with that unmistakable strength.
Stunning, absolutely stunning performance from the Divinyls Like a great wine, this performance has aged perfectly. Throw in the gig location of Shark Park Cronulla, it doesn't get anymore Aussie! Chrissy Amphlett may your star continue to shine brightly..
To anyone who was there - I vaguely recall a few years back seeing footage of midnight Oil playing a gig at Cronulla where the stage looked similar. Was this the same festival, or a double bill or something?
What girl , not forgetting her band . On one side of the planet one had the Pretenders with Chrissie Hynde , then over here , albeit a bit later , we enjoyed a similar band .
Possibly the best frontperson of a band that I've ever seen live. She just filled the space with her dynamism and magnetism. Such an awesome performer.
Totally agree. Best female singer from our Country. I cant listen to a lot of todays stuff. Its just not music. Going to see a Blondie V Pretenders band next week. Hope they are good.
Sitting here watching La Amphlett and wondering WHY THE HELL weren't the Divinyls bigger. God rest her corset Chrissie had it all❤. Also shiver me timbers never knew Frank Enfante played with Divs
Me too - I lived in Sydney and saw every band from that era, multiple times. But somehow never got around to seeing the Divinyls. Still got them in my heart though - this song in particular.
She's a bona fide aussie rock legend. Bit of a trail breaker too for women in rock. She said once in an interview that men were quite intimidated by her.
Sounds and looks like her vocals were re-recorded afterwards. Not sure why. Maybe she had an off day or there was sound issues. She was so damn great and I think most of us took her for granted back then. Seriously missed and underated.
At this point Divinyls were in a serious state of flux with multiple personnel changes. Of the classic core line up, Mark McEntee and bassist Rick Grossman remained. Added were Americans Tommy Cain (drums), Kenny Lyon (keyboards) and Frank Infante (guitar) who had played with Blondie. Also at Australian Made were I'm Talking with drummer Warren McLean who would be joining Divinyls and contributing to their next project the outstanding ''Temperamental'' album. Soon after this gig Grossman would leave the band and seek treatment for a serious heroin addiction. ''Losing Rick broke my heart''...wrote Chrissy.
It’s no wonder today’s festivals are all falling on their ass. The talent pool doesn’t touch the sides of bands of this caliber. The only ones that do are the same ones from back then !
She was special. I didn't even realize how much she influenced me as a front man until years later. She was mean, and aggressive and confident and controlling. I always thought that Ian Asterbury and Dave Vanian were my biggest influences, but I think Chrissy, Iggy Pop and Mojo Nixon were. Something about her got into me without me realizing it. I would assault band mates and audience members, and they thought it was entertainment. She was insane, and it was beautiful. She also just had that ...swagger. Never mastered that. Got close, but not like that Goddess. I remember the day she died. I was writing in a bar and found out by accident. I spent around fifty dollars to make sure no-one heard anything but her the rest of the night on the jukebox.
One good thing about Chrissy, she looked hot without having to strip to her underwear to try and sell music or perform like many girls have done. If she did I never saw it. I saw her at the Patch at Coolangatta many years ago, they were so good I went the following night as well. She sang with a great Aussie accent and is a great loss to music.
Best investment in film stock in 1987, Looks spectacular. Chrissy never did a dud performance, total class act.
☝️ absolutely
I just wonder if we will ever see the Mental As Anything performances. Now that Greedy is gone maybe we will.
I reckon it’s been overdubbed. Extra vocals added etc
Im so glad i was part of "HER TIME" RIP my friend.❤❤
Great group live she was 1 of the kind RIP 🖤 anyone listening in November 2024
100%😵💫
Yes!!

Feb 2025!
Anyone else cry when she passed? I bloody did.
I am glad she had a band talented enough to let the woman flourish. She was an impressive talent.
RIP Chrissy.
Cant help but feel some sadness as well as joy when I watch these clips.
I seen chrissy n divinyls in nsw australia in many pubs n clubs and id never seen so many guys show up in one place wherever they played divinyls were amazing an beautiful chrissy rip ❤️✌️🇦🇺

It was a truly awesome time to be a young Australian. ❤

There was no one came close to Chrissy. What a unique and wonderful voice, and the sass to back it up. RIP
God bless whoever made the decision to spend the money to shoot this on real film back in 1987.
It was shown at Cinemas back in the day.
Ok...I've just lost it completely. Don't know what else to say. Miss you bébé.
Awesome. Reminds me of when music was actually music
1987 What an awesome song
2019 What an awesome song

You and most of the country mate 🤣👍
My love for Divinyls is unalloyed.
Power, grace, beauty, heart, strength.
When I hear her singing, I touch myself
Right there with ya, dude! ❤️❤️❤️
From the Australian Made Tour - This recording was from Shark Park in Cronulla - I was at the gig
They were great, RIP Chrissy. A true story for you all. My drummer back in the late 80s was offered a job touring with her. He turned it down.. bet he regrets that :).
Fantastic band and a frontwoman for the ages!!! Miss you C... 🪴

You just know that everyone in that front row that were in camera shot has come to TH-cam to check themselves out 30+ years later lol.
Apparently not LOL
I was there. 😅
Lol yes bloody hell nearly 60yrs old now
She was not only talented, but beautiful as well. I miss her.
I get such a nostalgic pang, absolutely loved her then and even more watching her later struggle and the duality of her onstage persona and the quiet and reserved lady she was in her private life but both held together with that unmistakable strength.
Gone but not forgotten. Great to see a crowd not holding phones up in the air! Those days are gone forever. Excellent performance!
Chrissy Rocked on stage 🤘🏻
RIP. We will never forget you!💖🎶
Absolutely AMAZING voice ❤❤❤
one of the best rock females to go on stage !!
87?pretty sure the same year I saw them in my home town of Geraldton WA at the wintersun hotel..remember it being a great show.MISS YOU CHRISSY!❤
They were such a great band !!
It's really interesting seeing Frank Infante (from Blondie) play with this band. I had never realised he'd played with them. Great video.
Massive Blondie fan. I thought it was him. Cool.
Silky controlled voice that didn't have to shout to be amazing.
Australia's greatest rock chick ?? I can't think of any other Aussie female rocker that can match her. She was something very special.
Crank it up! Oh baby! One of the greatest Aussie live bands EVER.
After the Cosmic Psychos, yes...!
think if the Divinlys were uk euro or a states band so big we had almost a privileged seat at the local gigs
One of the greats! ✌️ Chrissy Hynde, Ann Wilson, Joplin…pantheon
Stunning, absolutely stunning performance from the Divinyls Like a great wine, this performance has aged perfectly. Throw in the gig location of Shark Park Cronulla, it doesn't get anymore Aussie! Chrissy Amphlett may your star continue to shine brightly..

Such as it is not and never will be. No one will perform better than her! Goddess.
First band I ever saw we had to jump the fence to get in ! It was worth it she was unreal .never forget Chrissy
What girl , not forgetting her band . On one side of the planet one had the Pretenders with Chrissie Hynde , then over here , albeit a bit later , we enjoyed a similar band .
Saw her/Divinyls at the Manhattan Hotel outside Melbourne around 1985. Awesome night!
just finished your book, Pain and Pleasure. miss you so much Chrissy.
Great performance. The age of the chorus effect. Stomping on the chorus pedal is instant '80s.
Fantastic vocalist!
The Divynls were a great Aussie band, saw them twice, they were great live, and The Late Chrissie Amphlett (R.I.P), always gave it everything she had.
This is a fave Divinyls songs and captures the essence of Aussie rock at its finest ! Love you Chrissie ❤
Very much an audio visual experience. Some good songs sure, but really great on stage. She was a very unique woman.
Possibly the best frontperson of a band that I've ever seen live. She just filled the space with her dynamism and magnetism. Such an awesome performer.
The best front woman ever, rest easy Chrissy, you are very much missed.
The yodel vocals in between this song, is rather unique.
I love the way the whole band is just having a blast.
Chrissy is our sleeping beauty. Never forgotten.
Tune!!! Miss those times...
Totally agree. Best female singer from our Country. I cant listen to a lot of todays stuff. Its just not music. Going to see a Blondie V Pretenders band next week. Hope they are good.
...if Chrissie Hynde & Angus Young had a child!!!
Great new wave rock back in the day with my 6×9's and 120 watt equalizer cruising around in my 68 GTO. ❤🎉
The one and only Miss Chrissy Amphlett ❤️
☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
She was a... goddess. Cruel beyond measure that she was taken back so soon, with so much more to achieve. Life, alas, is not just.
Hey that's Frank Infante from Blondie on guitar/backup vocals!
I love this xxx Thank you for sharing. Such a gorgeous voice. I really miss Chrissy. The Divinyls were so good.
Home ground of the mighty Sharks.
Festival and town please?
Frank Infante from the early Blondie albums on guitar :-)
Yeah i spotted him aswell.
She did it her way! ..& thk fk for that!! ♥️♥️
🇦🇺
I hope she knew how much she was loved
A good tribute band. Chrissy was my teenage fantasy. When I saw the video for this song, back in the 80's, I was the epitome of the song.
The love of my life. Chrissy for ever
Christine was a bad ass for sure. I saw her at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Impressive.
They were so good.
Legendary frontperson and legendary band.
Sitting here watching La Amphlett and wondering WHY THE HELL weren't the Divinyls bigger. God rest her corset Chrissie had it all❤. Also shiver me timbers never knew Frank Enfante played with Divs
A true artistic legend
BRAVA !!! RIP Chrissy 🧡🙏
Australia's favourite rock 'n' roll front girl.
Her magic.
We miss you ❤
I love this song. I love this so beautiful girl 😢😢😢
I really miss Chrissy. I was in Sydney at their peak and at my peak and never saw them live. Big mistake.
Me too - I lived in Sydney and saw every band from that era, multiple times. But somehow never got around to seeing the Divinyls. Still got them in my heart though - this song in particular.
Queen of Rock
1987!!! 👍❤️
An awesome front woman and entertainer
Always loved chrissy
Vocal perfection
RIP Christine Amphlett
Chrissy was So Gorgeous!!❤RIP
Masterful🙌
They were a nice little band.
She's a bona fide aussie rock legend. Bit of a trail breaker too for women in rock. She said once in an interview that men were quite intimidated by her.

That's what I thought too.
Is the lead guitarist from Blondie?? 💔💋RIP Chrissy x

Then Rick joined the hoodoo gurus😠
A lot of valuable information, thanks for recording it, John.
1987...my hair was long and my shorts were short....and Chrissy was HOT!
Love and miss you Chrissy
It’s no wonder today’s festivals are all falling on their ass. The talent pool doesn’t touch the sides of bands of this caliber. The only ones that do are the same ones from back then !
The only person Molly Meldrum is scared of. RIP you brilliant thing.

Frank Gambale! singing the ooo-ooo's!!
RIP 🌹
Nice 👍
Chrissy ...auténtica .....Frank infante demostrando lo que sabe muy bien
Christina was awesome, but the guitars in this band were always biting and incredibly cool. Those riffs.
Amazing! Ever seen anything more natural?
The Anglo Saxon culture is phenomenal. So versatile. Listen to this punk, amazing.
One good thing about Chrissy, she looked hot without having to strip to her underwear to try and sell music or perform like many girls have done. If she did I never saw it.
