    As someone who physically cannot have children, I always find that openly questioning why women don't have children is one of the rudest and cruelest behaviors to have towards women. Our value in society is not chalked up to the children we do/don't have. Smh.

      @catherinelynnfraser2001 thank you! I have thick skin, and thankfully, I don't want children, so infertility isn't as devastating as it is for others. There are so many women who desperately want children who can't, and others' judgments create additional trauma and grief. It's sad. My heart goes out to them.

      EXACTLY. People don’t know if the person has tried for a long time and couldn’t get pregnant or suffered miscarriages or had a child and lost the child, or doesn’t want children which is completely fine! People are so rude! Just because someone is married doesn’t mean they should have kids. It annoys me when people get married and instantly people ask - when are you having kids? Like chill! Jeesh! And unless you’re going to be financially supporting and emotionally supporting said children with that person, it’s NONE of your business! People are ridiculous 😂

      I agree completely. I have had 2 losses now and desperately want a baby, it hurts like hell when people ask me why I'm not pregnant yet or "when are the babies coming?!" People need to mind their business.

    OMG.....as a 56 yr old woman without children.... no regrets. I will join in the chorus of other ladies on this thread to say that I am tired of smiling politely through that rude, invasive and judgmental inquiry. It’s personal, it’s non ya business....I’m so happy that you love being a Mom and are fulfilled in that experience. Leave the rest of us alone. It’s always other women....shame on you. Angie, cheers to you for the graceful and loving way you spoke to those assumptions that should not have been said out loud. ❤

      Exactly. I agree. It's not conceited to like yourself. Knowing your flaws and your worth with what you find acceptable about yourself is all healthy perspective. It's when you think there is no flaws and your not a regular human being like the rest of us is when it can be considered unhealthy.

    As a childfree woman, I am so tired. What a stranger chooses to do with their uterus should always be off limits. The word regret gets thrown around left, right and centre. To the person who asked that question: turn it around and ask yourself how you would feel if someone questioned your choice to have children and said you would one day come to regret it. I, for one, would rather regret not having a child than raise a child I regret (and I’m so sure of it that I had my fallopian tubes removed 😉).

    • @WendyandBradPitt
      @WendyandBradPitt ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Plus, someone could be struggling with infertility and you don't know it. I'm child free and I've gotten the same questions. I usually respond with one of these faces - 🤢😧😵‍💫😳🙅‍♀️. I like kids, I just don't want any. I have 2 nieces and 1 great niece who is 7 so she is entering that great phase of discovery. She's so stinking cute and funny. But when I'm tired, I can send her home with her mom.

    • @ElizabethRas
      @ElizabethRas ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Also the argument that it is selfish not to have kids…. Having a child is probably the most selfish thing you can do.
      I don’t have kids and I think there are as many with kids, who regret having them, as someone without kids, who regrets not having them.

      Solution: get ahold of a child and keep it locked in the basement, in case you change your mind. If you don't, it's in the basement, no one will know. If you do, you can take it out and raise it anytime.

      There ist actually much more rudeness out in the real world. Where is the fight against that? Yep, no one cares. Start to fight against femicides, or the ban of abortions in the states, THAT would actually help.

  • @tarynperry2133

    I cannot believe how rude people are. Why does everyone think everyone should want children? I have never wanted children and I am great with it. Also, I agree that making diagnoses on people from the short time of what you present to us is ridiculous!!! You also appear to be one of the healthier people I have seen. I know you like candy, and we all have our vices, but everything you have ever shown for food is super healthy. OMG! You do not come off better than everyone else and your finances are none of our business. Just bc we 'choose' to purchase and/or support you doesn't make us entitled to know how much money you make out of your business ventures. You are kind for answering these questions and I understand creating content, but you are NOT required to get this personal. Soliciting some of these comments could be very negative to your personal mental health, as people love to hide behind their keyboard and tear others down due to their own insecurities. Keep up the great makeup content. I love watching your videos. You are beautiful, funny, talented, and seem to be an amazing person/friend.

    • @Niccis_Narrative
      @Niccis_Narrative ปีที่แล้ว +7

      EXACTLY, on all counts. I feel like I’m prob on the spectrum, and if I got the diagnosis that I was it would be a huge relief for me because all the issues I had growing up would make more sense to me…but nothing about any of her videos would EVER suggest that she’s on the spectrum, sadly I think some people want to have things in common w the creators that they love, and while there’s nothing wrong w being autistic or on the spectrum it’s very wrong to make that assumption about someone else, whether they’ve known that person all their life or just through videos online. Going into the research as much as I have, it sounds like people who might be autistic don’t know when they are sounding rude or hurtful. I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt…but still these assumptions…aren’t what I thought they’d be at all. These feel more like attacks than assumptions…tbh…

      Me too. I used to want kids when I was younger but that was mostly because it was something I just assumed we're supposed to do but when I actually gave it some thought I realised that I can't think of a single reason why I would want to have kids. A lot of people don't even think about it, they see it as a box you tick off as go through your life.

    I love, love, love your comments about loving yourself. I was valedictorian in high school, and I always felt the need to make myself smaller, to not use big words, and to play the "dumb" girl just to fit in. It was miserable. I was worthy, but I had been pretending for so long that I forgot that. Don't change yourself to "fit in." We are smart, we are beautiful, and we are worthy of talking ourselves up. ❤ In the words of RuPaul, "If you can't love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?"

    • @tossefin
      @tossefin ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I also think that it also has something to do with the fact that Angie is a, let's be honest, objectively beautiful woman. Some people who are good looking are very aware of it and will have a "holier than thou" kind of attitude about it. But plenty of beautiful people are not that way of course, or even have low self esteem and can't see what others see at all. I just think people's own insecurities are the reason for thinking this way.

    You're so right about women not being allowed to like themselves. I gained weight recently and I'm personally not that phased, but since then everyone acts like I'm supposed to wear black potato sacks and act like a little mouse because I'm fat now. And God forbid I shrug it off when someone asks if I'm gonna diet in order to go back to my slimmer body.

      How rude of them?! Why do people feel entitled to ask questions like that? You are so right, women are expected to always be humble and not celebrate themselves or be proud of their achievements. I was listening to a podcast interview of Amy Poehler where she talked about how people will ask her Are you surprised you got here, this happened to you, etc and they pretty much expect her to say yes, but what she really feels is NO I am not surprised, I worked really hard to get here, to have this, etc.

    Love your attitude to money. My partner and I are both engineers with no children and our only debt is our mortgage. We don’t live a particularly frivolous life, but we get the same questions. We bought a new car last year and the comments!!! It’s like, not that we have to justify ourselves, but our last car was ten years old, and we have no children! People really don’t realise how much not having children saves.
    We’re also budgeters, in that we know what we’re spending our money on ever month, and we know how much we’re saving. We buy nice things, but only when we know we’re going to buy them, if that makes sense. I think an awareness of how much money you earn vs how much you spend does naturally make you a more financially astute person. Any money spent is spent with intention.

      Quitting smoking is very hard, both me and my husband were smokers, the only way we were able to quit this time (we’ve tried several times) was to get the prescription Chantix. If you have insurance it should pay for it or most of the cost. Being on Medicare they hardly paid for it but we decided on the long run it was cheaper than cigarettes. Knock on wood, it’s been 10 months now that we’ve stopped smoking. It wasn’t until my husband said he wanted to quit cause it’s hard if your partner still smokes. Do I still want a cigarette, yes but the feeling lasts a few seconds but if I’m around someone who smokes I can’t stand the smell if that makes sense. I get the urge at times if I’m worried or stressed. Praying for you. ❤

      Thank you both for the suggestions above.... and the prayers which are needed and appreciated...
      My husband uses a vape and I've tried it when I didn't have cigs and I didn't really like it...
      I think a lot of my problems getting started is that I've made smoking so much of my daily life that I have a difficult time trying to get away from the stupid cigarettes. I wake up and have a cig, I eat and have a cig, I smoke before bed... so I have to figure out a way to try to do these things without the cigarettes.
      I may eventually try Chantix or something similar to that because I really want to be around to see my children get older and if I keep smoking I'm risking not seeing that.

      @@whoathatsanicememe3093 I know exactly what you mean, first thing in the morning, cup of coffee sitting outside with my cigarette , same thing after eating, right before bed, I was up to almost a pack per day and hubby was 1 1/2 packs, really expensive habit now. I’m telling you that Chantix works, after one day I didn’t want cigarettes at all, even if I tried to smoke one I couldn’t even get half way thru one. I tried vaping but didn’t like it, neither did my husband. Good luck, it’s a difficult habit to break without the pills. We both were on a 3 month supply, that’s all, no side effects either.

    100% Agree with you. Honestly the 1st times I heard you talk yourself up I felt kind of uncomfortable and I hated that because I realized its because we are “not sopposed” to feel good about ourselves (openly) That absolutely sucks and I have started trying to be more comfortable with talking positively about myself. THANK YOU for encouraging us to do so ❤

    If you're somehow offended by confident and assertive women, then maybe it's not about them. Maybe it's about you. Be it internalized misogyny, or just plain jealousy. A person's opinions on others often show more about their own values and worldviews.

It's unfortunate that women cannot support and uplift each other and rather be judgemental, jealous, offensive, and just out right rude. perhaps they should evaluate there own lives a bit. Thank you for your response on the assumption about childless women. It's true, you never know what's going on for that person and being questioned can really hurt sometimes. Everyone assumes with IVF and adoption that it's so easy to get a child, but there's a lot more to it than that. I don't mind if someone asks if I have children, I just want them to read the room. My very short answer of "unfortunately no" does not give permission for more questions.

    Regarding regrets over children not had: my aunt and uncle, who got married at 50, spent a long time lamenting to the extended family that they never had kids. So. Eventually, a niece of theirs sent her daughter to stay with them for a week, during the summer. She wasn't a badly behaved kid, just a 6 year old with the normal amount of energy, which is, of course, a lot. They were so miserable that week that it pretty much shut their mouths on regretting they never had kids, because they learned that they weren't the type. Which is fine. They liked the house to be quiet and undisturbed, they didn't want to have to entertain a toddler, their idea of fun was walking to the botanical garden, sitting on a bench for an hour, then walking back

    Okey have to comment about the language one: as someone who has had to learn swedish (finnish here) I can totally hear from your english how good your swedish is. Swedish is it's own full language that has lot a of speakers, media and as you said goverment documents produced in it so I see no reason why you wouldn't have a strong base in it that you always firstly rely. I don't mean to say that your english is bad by any means! Some times the word order or idiom you use clearly comes from first thinkin it in swedish and I'm very familiar with that.
    I love following you because you are swedish and I feel you give good representation, as in we exist, for us nordics who are otherwise so forgotten in the makeup community. And yes, this is indeed a hint that I would loose my mind for one or two more full swedish videos from you

    Not sure if you'll see this comment but I also have similar issues with my stomach and when I'm weak or I know that the food is going to be spicy or heavy I take Gaviscon, it's over the counter and based on algie. If you start having painful cramps, take 2-3 tablets (I prefer "extra" that have white and pink stripes) and after about an hour pain is gone. If you take it before and after heavy a fatty/triggering meal it should help to avoid pain all together. There's no actual medication we can take on a regular basis for this but oh my God, Gaviscon saved me so many times! Give it a try, it's just for coating and to prevent from acid burning your own stomach 😣
    On another note as someone who was diagnosed with POF, question about kids is a bit frustrating and annoying, like mind your own business Diane! I'm not going to list the reasons I don't/can't have kids yet! It doesn't make me less of a person that I don't have them!

    Good for you for feeling confident with who you are! In our part of the country especially (I'm in Oklahoma which is similar in mindset to TX) a woman who is confident in who she is is seen as a huge negative. We're expected to "know our place". I teared up at the Barbie movie too because the message of empowerment and free agency over oneself is definitely not a message that is taught to American girls. Sadly, the worst perpetuators of patriarchal ideas are women.

    I love the persona assumption. I called a client that I have talked to for years and I was their trainer a few years ago. When I she answers the phone and talked to me for a minute she said “oh you’re no who I thought you were”. So I asked her who she thought I was and she said the trainer they had. I said yes that’s me. She said you don’t sound like yourself. So I confessed to using my support voice and we laughed. I know several of my coworkers also have a support voice we use on the phone until we know the client better.
