You tricked me with that Machi Koro shirt. I thought that meant it was going to be on your list.

I think I accidentally said dourist instead of tourist at the beginning of the video there!
What are your favourite Japanese themed board games?

      Probably Tokaido

So far, Tang Garden. Just purchased Bitoku and have high hopes for it.

oooh I love Bitoku! The rules are a bit tricky but once you play it a couple of times its really good. I love it! I have always wanted to try Tang Garden Though!@@noizeemama3697

@@BoardGameSanctuary I think I will love Bitoku when I play it with someone who likes it. I liked the mechanics and theme, but one in the group hated it and you could tell. Saps the fun out of it.
Wish I could play Tang Garden with you! I can't get enough it.

Haha I would love to play Tang Garden. I have not had a chance to play it! Yes Bitoku is a bit much. If you can find at least 1 person who loves the Ghibli inspired theme and the fun multi step mechanics, it is actually so so so much fun. Its a top 5 euro game for me. I actually like it at 2 players so if you can find at least one other person who is also invested. Win win! :)@@noizeemama3697

Some great games there for me to explore - I also like Seikatsu and Samurai

Thanks Tony for your suggestions. I'm going to check those two games out :)

When it comes to japanese theme, there are definitely lots of interesting games to discover out there. I heard about most of them but only really tried Tokaido for now. I had Kanagawa on my wishlist but still gotta buy it.

I got the following 14 games with Japanese theme: Samurai, Miyabi, Shogun, Ikusa, Sekigahara - The Unification of Japan, Hanamikoji, King of Tokyo, Karesansui, Ohanami, Onitama, Sakura, Shobu, Tajuto and Tokyo Highway. You tried all of them? I believe several of these should enter the top ;-)

Awesome video and very different from the content out there while no solely focusing on the “hot” games. I think this would be an awesome series ……. Board Games from around the world!? Either way great job!

Wait for the next travel around the world video series!

The most cherished such game in my collection is Kaigan, quite rightly described at BGG as the best and most underrated game at that site. Good luck getting a copy!

    Great video...
Tokaido is my favourite and I'm hoping Namiji which hopefully be arriving any day now... will be as good...

Thanks for a very informative video. I have been eyeing Iki and really like the aesthetics of the game. Tokyo Highway looks like a lot of fun too! A couple of games that we play fairly frequently, which I would say have a Japanese themed window dressing on them, are Seikatsu and Ohanami. 👍

Inasmuch as Tokaido is set during the Edo Period, I'm pretty sure that nobody is taking any photos.

      @@BoardGameSanctuary yes, please!
I have a question about Iki. You love it, we were disappointed and felt like it was missing something. We liked the mechanics and look of it, but can't put our finger on it. Do you have a video on it or can you describe what you love about it? Just trying to figure out what we are missing. As lovers of eurogames, this one should be great for us.

@@noizeemama3697 Thats ok! Iki isn't for everyone. Did you play the new version or the original one. I do feel that the layout and iconography of the new board to be a bit much. I loved playing my friend's original copy of the game. It has a different vibe. It is a very point salady game though!

Have you played Bitoku or Madoshi? I like games that feature yokai, Madoshi does a better job of that, but Bitoku is a big game with lots of interesting decisions.

All gorgeous games. I would ad Rising Sun and Ticket to ride Japan. Been in Japan once for a whole month and traveling across the country. Would like to go back some day. Along with Italy my favorite Country.

Thank you for posting! Eki looks great--I will definitely be looking into this one. I was hoping to see Rising Sun--a great game. Also, Shinkansen might have been interesting--I have not played this one, but it looks like it might be fun. Sekigahara is a good one, but most people are not so interested in war games, so I did not expect this one (represents several weeks of epic fighting that led to the Tokugawa period).

Iki is wonderful, even more so if you can find the original first edition! I even just heard that Iki got nominated for a Spiel Des Jahres award for 2023!
I have seen Shinkansen, its a gorgeous looking game and would love to try it some time. In fact there are so many japanese games that I would love to try but either cant find or get to play!

On that matter you got me intrigued by Iky but do I need another worker placement game?

One of the options in the list reminded me that I should grab a copy and add it to my shelf but a google search says it is no longer in stock or at least I have to get a copy overseas.

Another amazing video Danny! Great explanations and fun to watch. I was trying to anticipate which games you would have on your list (got some but looking forward to checking out the others I didn’t know about including your #1). I was expecting you to have Sushi Go in the list somewhere! LOL. Keep up all the fantastic videos!
