This is a timely list as we are headed to Taiwan tomorrow! Thank you, ladies!
Interesting that you observed a trend of power/electricity related themes in Taiwanese board games. As an island nation, Taiwan has long had a high dependence on imports for its domestic energy demand (high 90% IIRC). Taiwan's energy dependence, coupled with its volatile relationship with China, has always made for some tense geopolitical dynamics.

Oh no! I wish I had known you two had come to Taiwan! I would have loved to shown you two around. Loved listening to you two talk about Taiwan games!

That's the same reaction I had with the Box Cover of Etariya. The New box also has a skimpy dressed female in the wilderness......

Thanks for the video! Taiwan sure has a number of great games. Some reminding me of games here like Quadropolis, Power Grid, A Fake Artist Goes to New York, Point Salad, Shobu, and a number of abstract/grid games. :)
I have heard of and seen *Marshmallow Test* before, but did not realize it was a Reiner Knizia game that is trick-taking with the simple task of winning four tracks the latest but not last. Should keep it in my radar.
My FLGS had *Pocket Master Builder,* and it sparked interest as a crunchy 1-2 player game all in a very small box. It made my list of 50 games of interest of 2022-definitely want to try.

Love the art on the cards of "Transformer Boxes" - never been there and likely never will - but I'd buy this game.

Kobayakawa is a good game for up to 5, maybe 6 players. You can extend it to 45 minutes by playing until someone has won twice (or thrice).

My gosh! I was in Taipei over Easter, too! I only bought one game (Walking in Burano), but I also already have Hanamikoji. Yes, it's a great place for board games and board gaming. ^_^

Just a note on Marshmallow Test rules. You don't get points for your own tricks, only "other players" tricks (which is bolded in the rulebook). Getting an extra four (in a 3P game) bonus points just for going out makes coming last in a round really really punishing!

Did you happen to see 12 Rivers in Taiwan? :) I haven't played it yet but I just got it a couple months ago and it's so beautiful!

I'm visiting Taipei this coming weekend, and I would love to buy some of these games myself! Any easy to reach boardgame shops that you recommend? I'll only be there for four days, so I'd like to make the most of my visit to boardgame shops. :)
    Awesome video, by the way!

Marshmallow Test may be up there as one of the best board game titles ever. 😂I now want to get MT and I'm also interested in Patchwork: Folklore Taiwan. I've never owned Patchwork and would love to have that beautiful game! Maybe it's time for a return trip to Taiwan...hmm....🤔 Lovely to see you both!

I just played Marshmallow Test last week and it's so fun! Plus marshmallows. Or more accurately: marshmallows! Plus it's fun. I have Pocket Master Builder and it's great! That game is how I found Jay at Cardboard East because the rulebook IS terrible. His video was super helpful.

Marshmallow Test = Voodoo Prince (with a few simplifications). I love the marshmallow components and the very appropriate theme of Marshmallow Test, but I like the gameplay of Voodoo Prince better. But both are excellent trick-takers!

Great video! Loved seeing all these games from Taiwan! I actually have heard of your #1 but only once a while back. Now I am very intrigued and will be looking for your #1,2, and 4! Thanks so much for sharing this and all those plushies! How on earth did you bring all that back with you? 😂

So...Amy had to compromise on all of her rankings for abstract games...but Maggie didn't. Did Maggie's compromising come in the form of coming home from Taiwan with a motherload of abstract games?
