Thanks so much for making this video! I've been needing to make a simple adjustment to mine and will do anything to avoid paying an hour+ at the dealership for labor. I knew there had to be an easier way besides removing that damn nacelle and you made life a whole lot easier and less intimidating. Thanks a million! 🤘
Hi, nice enjoyable video. I'm having trouble with mine and took it to the dealer after I loosened those bolts and couldn't move the handlebar. The dealer also had a very hard time, the mechanic needed another 300lb+ mechanic to sit on the bike, only to move the bar a small fraction, which helped a bit. The mechanic said he thought the layer of black paint was keeping it stuck. One guy in the chain of command I'm appealing to, to make this workable so I can routinely adjust this myself by a couple inches (my wife rides, too, and would like to take the bike on some long trips)....said he thought there was a pin that held the Road King Special handlebars in place, allowing them to hardly move. Do you or someone reading this have some more experience? Thanks!
My bike did not have any type of pin holding the bars in place. I had to loosen the two Allen bolts numerous turns before the bars would move. Thanks for watching!
How much did you adjust? I just called dealer and they said a 1/8 of an inch is about all you get. You will need to buy new bars for major adjustments.
@ thank you!! What year is the bike? I have a 24” and like dealer said they put a safety pin in there so it doesn’t move? Not sure if they are trying to make a quick 1600 for something I don’t need.

@@georgepetro2231 I moved the handlebars at least 1/2”-3/4”. It made a difference!
@ thank you!!
I should clarify… I’m referring to the reach at the grips. You can probably move an inch in either direction.

@ No pins or stops, but had to back out the Allen screws quite a bit. Mine’s a 2023.
Do the handlebar controls need adjusting after you do this ?
@@ktric2007 I did not adjust mine. Thanks for watching!
