    I dropped my first official release about a month ago and I currently have a little over 2k streams on Spotify alone...its titled Sons and Daughters by Jay Fkay, and its just one of those songs I'm proud of and can't wait to have enter more people's ears cause I'm really confident in how wholesome it is and its replay value. Thanks for this video by the way, really insightful

    I released my debut single almost 3 months ago. And to be honest, even though I was really hoping to get playlisted into an editorial playlist (silly me I know), it went better than I expected. I was able to built up some attention before Play went live, so I had some steams on the release day and days after. I released an ep with versions of the song few days after the release day, and that helped a lot as well. And even though my few non-singles I've released after this one haven't reached Play's numbers, I can definitely see why. What I'd recommend to anyone, is to just stay true to yourself. Don't do what others do, you have to find your own style, which takes a lot of time, and that's completely fine. Be curious, be brave, and even if something is not working for you, try to not get stuck just in one place - just keep trying and doing your stuff :).

    My debut release was 6 months ago and I have about 25 streams, 20 of which are from me :). Needless to say, I must not have done something correctly so maybe someone can learn from me. I write good music, from the heart, and am trying to change the world with what I write, but no one is really streaming it or is into it yet except for my parents. Sure, I could write songs about beer or wallowing in sadness and probably would possibly do much better but that's a decision I've made, to produce the uplifting music I want to make. I put videos of my performances out on TT and YT but so far, 31 subs on YT and 5 streams or so on streaming platforms. Fortunately, I have a day job. I wish you all better luck than I've had. The good news is, I love writing the music anyway and it has changed who I am for the better and I don't plan to stop anytime soon.

    On my debut release, I was uneducated! Happy is the artist who finds this video in time. I had money but I invested it wrong. Yet I have had some happy results through running Ads i.e. 188000+ views on my Music Video. 29 posts have been made by TikTok Users featuring my debut song!
    But I gotta agree with you, the ability to cleverly post micro-content is a Godsend for artists everywhere! 💿💿💿

    • @Chronade
      @Chronade 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@nervilis I would have not rushed things i.e. I would have invested in a bigger producer to make a world class track, made a world-class Music Video featuring actors/actresses, promoted the Music Video using TH-cam Ads, attached the song link for easy access. This I think, would have landed me on better grounds. Nevertheless, I'm still learning, to be in the music industry is what I want, I'll never surrender... 🎯

    Many don't realize 85% Of artists on Spotify don't have more than 50 followers. If you haven't done any work on your brand / story first you can expect 5 -50 streams. That's not 5k, I mean 5.

    I got EXTREMELY lucky on my debut release back in 2020. Somehow it triggered the discovery algorithm and it got pushed out a lot, garnering over 100k streams. My subsequent releases however got far less, like 10k-ish each.
    The power of catalog is real though. After consistently releasing once a month for 4 years, even my old songs are being pushed out more and more over time. As long as you keep moving forward, no track is truly ever “dead”

    In response to the idea of you starting your own distribution:
    You’re genuine people who would truly benefit the artists, unlike some other labels and distributors so hope you do! and while I'm not sure how well connected you all are, I know you're aware of channels similar to you, Damian Keyes, Adam Ivey etc. who are as credible as you guys perhaps you could discuss this idea with them. I can envision you all collaborating to create a strong and better alternative for artists. (all a suggestion of course either way you still do very well if you go ahead with that idea.)

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We'd love to do it, it would really help us invest and support artists how we feel best benefits them, rather than blowing their entire advance on a music video then asking them to pay the money back for it. But the difficult bit is that the reality is most artists fail therefore your reputation is going to be negative, every distributor has bad google reviews for example. Even on this video someone has commented on the one distributor we mentioned and said they didn't get much. So managing that is a huge challenge.

    My debut release didn't really get streams at first (around 20 within a week or so), but later it got pushed out to a couple of random Spotify users, so it's around 1600 streams now. At the time I was trying really hard to make social media content, so not getting a lot of streams made me feel really disappointed. A lot of my social media followers at that point just followed me for random cute selfies I believe, and not because they cared about my music. So of course, the social media audience didn't really translate to active listeners on streaming.

    I put out my debut album last week. Ive gotten around 100 streams so far. I have less than 50 followers across all my socials. Imma keep being consistent tho because I think I have quality music and the audience is out there somewhere!

    Hi Burstimo,
    While I am well passed putting out my first release at this point in my craft, I wanted to point out that my algorithms, whether TikTok or Instagram, have consistently capped me at a certain amount of views for my content despite experimenting with different ways of executing the content, but regardless, I have kind of discovered my content style now and continued to create despite constantly hitting a ceiling in the metrics.
    As far as streaming is concerned, Spotify and all that is out the picture for me now that I have left those platforms to just strictly go direct to consumer. As a creator who has been navigating through different genres, I have seen the most progress in House music, specifically doing remixes especially in the last year.
    If I am getting the best results I have ever gotten for simply my music on let’s say platforms like SoundCloud, especially for my remixes, with intentions of bringing visibility to my originals which are also on display, should I just focus more on there where I am getting the most traffic despite not really progressing as much with the content for my music on social media? Let me know your thoughts!
    Thanks!

    Any playlists that use advertising will be attracting fake streams regardless. Click farms have to click on adverts that they are not played to click on in order to avoid detection. So by advertising at all you will put yourself in the crossfire. It's why I've personally never advertised.

    • @Burstimo
      @Burstimo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Bots may click on some adverts, but they click off. They don't click on the advert, make a Spotify account, listen to your bop, save it, hit you up in the DMs to tell you they love your track then show up to your next show.

      I was probably exaggerating a bit, we get mainly early stage artists from the labels. Around 20% of them are debut. So to answer your question they don't drop them that quickly and do invest in a few releases from an artist.
