It’s VERY obvious to me that the both of you are genuinely trying to help artists translate all the platforms and values associated with them which in my option is often just a distraction from “actually creating good music”. Without that of course, the rest of the banter is pointless. Great vid as always and you both are appreciated. 🙏🏻😎💥
Create good music is a default and artist should already know that . Would you tell a restaurant owner to just “make great food” . No , they need great customer service , different offers , marketing etc .
Okay, so question. I feel my IG account is dead cuz it started as a personal account with friends/family prioritization. Thinking of starting a new account. What should an artist post when first starting out on Instagram?
This is one of the best videos I have seen concerning Instagram marketing for artists in a long time. I appreciate how you guys went in depth about each Instagram tool (Reel, feed, stories, highlights). This video gave me so much clarity. I cannot wait to implement the tips you guys shared. Keep up the great work!!
The two of you have some of the best insight on what to do and not to do for artist! Just wanted to say thanks for all the wisdom. Big fan! I suck at social media, so I really appreciate it. Don't waist your time looking at my accounts, I'm a mess. Cheers!
Highlights are definitely important. I use them and if I'm interested in another artist/ creative I watch them. Sometimes you get more from that then taking the time to look through the whole feed. Thanks for the video guys :)
10:00 marker when she said you dont have to tell them where its at!!!?? In real-life EVERY single time if i post that im dropping content even if its embed. Ppl literally ask that same question🤔 like thats the whole reason i Put it on the ad or the Post.
Hey guys, love the video 😊 thanks. But one question. You guys touched on "stories should be daily, feed posts can be every month, reels every two weeks, etc" then you also talk about how we shouldn't be creating content for the sake of content... So, how do important is it for me to post a story every day. And if it is, what kind of content should i be posting? I often feel like I'm making content for the sake of content when i post regular stories
Always grateful for your content 🙏🏽❤️ If we are posting daily on reels should we keep the reels off our profile grid for aesthetics and new people visiting our profile?
How would I go about getting fake followers deleted ? I don’t want to get shadow banded but some random guy bought me followers ( not much about 500) and I want them to be deleted but I can’t figure out which ones to delete
Alex & Maddy: Can you do a video on how to properly use hashtags on IG, FB and everything? Just want to get some interesting perspectives, ideas from you.
I had a reel explode to a 2,4 million views like 5 months ago about a song idea I´ve just had at the moment, my Insta went from 4k to 130k followers, but my reach has dropped a lot since then, do you think it´s just a bad and good streaks ?? Thanks for the help guys, I love your videos.
question for you: why are artist being told that if they talk about music in a post (ig or elsewhere) that they have to accompany that post with an unrelated selfie? if you look through musicians' posts on IG you will see them all talking about music in the post, but the pictures are nothing but selfies... what is this about? I'm forced to do this as well, even though there is no real explanation for it so far. The best thing I heard is that the human eye responds to music better with visuals, but a still picture selfie isn't exactly a "visual" that goes with the music. what is the reasoning behind the selfie craze?
I think it kinda forces that artists’ followers to look at the artist first, kind of like an “eye candy” thing, then swipe and see some info about what artist is doing. It’s like a default way to get viewers looking at your desired content.
I have a question regarding press release. I have 7 singles and a filler track. I want to release 5 singles and then release the last 2 singles and the filler track and reformat them all into one EP. How do I create press releases for each single without introducing myself over and over again to the same contact list. Or is it a case of I should be doing that? I’d like to hear how you would structure separate PR’s to the same people but keeping it unique between each time I’m reaching out. Cheers
Epic Fail! Literally just finished posting a screenshot of my Spotify page, as this vid is telling me not to do that. To be fair it was my first time being on Spotify with my first ever upload 😅
The weeknd posted videos without him in it just random models and the XO logo. Also slipknot, marshmallow, deadmua5, kiss, keanu reeves, batman are all characters who succeeded with the mysterious origin story. Also I don't normally go through highlights unless I really care about the artist. Also the feed is cool if they do something with it aesthetically.
H.E.R, Gorillaz, Daft Punk and Sia also did. I think its a bit of a reach when they said "no artist has been properly broken by taking the mysterious route" quite a few have tbh, but once they get famous they usually show their face. It may be less common / the minority, but it's definitely not an anomaly.
@@KDazee I guess it depends what your branding is. Corpse Husband has millions of listeners monthly in Spotify and Millions of rabid followers on IG And he hasn’t posted anything since 2 years ago. Nobody maybe 2 people know what he looks like.
@@theintentionalist Corpse started his career on TH-cam narrating horror stories and had an audience that he could sell the music too. Times have changed. We dont have the luxury of being mysterious anymore, especially for independent artists starting off with just music
I started dropping my music reels about 2 moths ago. Started YT about 4 moths ago. I'm at 1K followers on insta already and get quite a few views on my reels. I have no idea what is good. haha. I think I'm doing pretty darn well. Already designing courses on Kajabi to start selling my courses. This is so much fun. :)
"The best approach for an Artist to grow their Instagram followers is to do what David Beckham does." Ok so hear me out. I may be a little out of prime range for professional football, but I hired a trainer. If I want to get on David Beckham's level of expertise i'm going to be pulling some 18 hour days here, no breaks. By the time I am ready to move to Europe and play professionally I may be on the downside of my career but it is what it is. In ten years, if all goes as planned, I will marry a famous woman from a girl group (haven't decided who yet although k-pop is very popular atm). Preferably I will retire at the top of my game and adored by all fans across the world. THEN i can follow what David Beckham has been doing on social media since I laid down the most important ground work beforehand. Hopefully Instagram is still around by then, but I am assuming if not, something would have replaced it by then. Thanks guys! LETS GET IT!
Focusing on instagram to have more music success must be like becoming a lawyer to work as a teacher. You end up wasting resources. You better hire a company that does that for you.
"Be an artist, just document it in whatever way feels natural to you." That's it!!
The trick I find is to document it while I’m doing it but, not post it until it’s time to release the music.
Thanks
🔥🔥🔥

a lot of gems in this video thanks Burstimo 🙏🏽💎👨🏽🎨
Great video thank you. Although I did leave thinking... 'what the f&^% is a twizzler?' 😂
This video has truly removed all of my anxiety..so thank you!!
But if you promote the song like ads your likes go up but the comments are not up , so it might look fake to. So how can I fix that ..?
it’s wild how stories are so much more interesting than posts
How do you find a manager as an artist?
Great video! Thank yoy guys for all of the extremely helpful info!
great tips here guys thanks

Does anyone know the link to the bio video they referred to several times?
You two are very smart for sure.
Great advices ! Thank you :)

I hate DM’s and have them closed, but I have engagement in comments. Do I have to open them?
Any amendments to this a year(ish) later. Still seems pretty relevant.
I know you touched on it a bit in this video, but could you create a video about what to put in your instagram bio and examples?
Sure, a skinny bald guy has already done one for us:

Thank you guys
As an Italian musician, I am very proud to watch your passionate hand gestures. 😂
I actually like you guys being orange, lol
Not sure why but Instagram reels work worst for me for new engagement when compared to TH-cam shorts/tiktok
what kind of artist are you??
Mainly future house, my channels has my latest remix!

That’s a good question I wanna know too!
If an artist have already made the mistake of buying followers and is shadow banned. Is it better to create a new account?
Yes
What do you do, if you paid for one of those services that turned out to be fake? Start a new acct or continue trying to grow the current one?
So my question is. Where do u think the best place to get reach is? Reels or stories? And do hashtags still work?
Do both. Reels for new audience and stories for existing
What about the hashtags? Do you think they limit or actually extend reach?
I wish people would say "musicians" when "musicians" is clearly what they mean and not "artists."

You know what would be great? An estrategy for the new app Threads maybe
I need help with growing organically from literally zero followers.
Did she delete her tiktok ?
so what should we do instead of saying out now. You never discussed that
Shouts out vine
have i seen vids of you singing in the basement?

Those artists were signed with big budgets . Independent artists cannot follow that strategy

means that fakery is dead? That everyone is forced to be genuine? Gee whiz what a world
Take this with a grain of salt, I don’t think these two are experts… there’s a lot of none sense info here
