To add in more Marvel comics background, most of the X-Men, like Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, are "mutants", which in Marvel comics means they were born with their powers. Their have mutated genes that just naturally causes powers at puberty or when they go through a personal trauma. (By the way, Negasonic had completely different powers in the comics and was only in a couple issues, I think.) Deadpool is what is called a "mutate", meaning he got his powers later through accident or experimentation. Similar to Spider-Man (bitten by radioactive spider) or Captain America (experimented on by the military). That's why the "mutates" usually have more interesting origin stories.
when he is on the gurney going into the warehouse, he makes a comment about making the supersuit green/animated. this is a jab at the costume/character Green Lantern. he wasn't a fan of his role in the film
Deadpool was originally in New Mutants as more of a wild card mercenary. Neither good nor bad. The readers really took to him so they changed him around a lot. A couple years later he had his own series.
Deadpool's 4th wall breaking isn't an ability. The experiment just made him so nuts he realized he is in a comic(or in a movie in this case) and so can talk to the reader/watcher. So it's not an ability, but just Deadpool being insane.
The funny thing, when Deadpool is going around asking everyone where Francis is, they don't know him as Francis, they know him as Ajax, so even if they wanted to tell him they couldn't because they didn't know who Deadpool was asking about.
The silver metal guy in the movie is Colossus, real name Piotr "Peter" Nikolayevich Rasputin. Although totally human in appearance normally, Colossus is able to transform himself into metallic form. He is arguably the strongest member of the X-Men. The teenager in the yellow spandex is Negasonic Teenage Warhead, real name Ellie Phimister. She is named after the song "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" by Monster Magnet. @@richardrobbins387 I believe so, though I've never been a big fan of the series. I was a kid when this came out and have since gotten more enjoyment out of the trivia around it.
I had some xp with Motion Capture and love the opening scene's seriously fluid animations and movement and fight choreography - it finally did the cinematic style of the comic book justice. For me it's the one thing that was missing in Nolan's Batmans. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :) I highly recommend The Raid Redemption too!
Deadpool is the only character that knows he’s in a comic book. It’s why he talks directly to the audience. He’s known as the Merc with the mouth, because he never shuts up.
@@therobotafroshow3289 Firstly, your statement is wrong. Just because it wasn’t integral to her in the early 80’s doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been an integral part of her character since. Secondly, you do realise that Deadpool didn’t start breaking the fourth wall either when he was created? First appeared in 1990. First fourth wall break in 1999 in Deadpool 28 - and that was a pretty minor one. So 8.5 years between his creation and first fourth wall break compared to 9 years for She-Hulk.

35:28 Mark! The story of how this movie came to be is crazy in itself. The script was leaked as well as test footage. I read the script before the movie came out. The part I remembered by the time I saw it in the theater was the bit where was fighting Colossus ( Titannium Terminator) :) It was perfectly executed.
Maaaaaan. I had my to do list set, got my boots on and was gonna adult the shit out of today. And then I get a notification that my favorite couple posted a reaction to my favorite movie? Yeah, we're ordering out tonight.
Fun fact: the actor that plays Francis was the 1st " Daario Naharis," aka, Danaerys Targaryens' lover in Mereen, before they replaced him. He was the actor with the long hair that fought with Jorah and Greyworm when they went and " sacked the city."🔥🔥🔥🐲🐲🐲
Deadpool's skin isn't burned. Remember, he heals. His skin looks like that because his healing factor heals ALL of his cells, including the tumors from his cancer, but it pushes those away from the healthy cells of his body, until there's nowhere else for them to go. Deadpool's skin is tumors. You can see that sometimes his makeup will change, that's because of the tumors shifting around :P When he says "maximum effort", he means it. You know how our brain has a safety switch that keeps us from injuring ourselves through exertion? He can turn that off and perform some truly superhuman stunts that definitely cause muscle tears and bone fractures and such, like punching someone so hard that you break your fist and your wrist, but he knows he can heal it almost instantly, so it's worth it. His REAL superpower is his knowledge that he's a fictional character and his ability to break the 4th wall. He's read the comics of his enemies before so he can find out how he beats them, and then does THAT :P The big metal guy is Colossus, one of the X-Men, whose mutation is that he can convert his skin into organic steel, and he is the most straight-laced goody two shoes of the whole bunch. Seriously, he's like a D&D Paladin, Lawful Good and NO FUN ALLOWED :P Ajax was a Classical Greek hero, the King of Salamis, and said to be stronger than all of Greece. Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease". I think Francis had the former in mind when he named himself. Deadpool also has such a hard time finding him because he keeps asking his goons where Francis is, but they only know him as Ajax :P That final confrontation is (unofficially) on a derelict SHIELD helicarrier like the one from Avengers. Fox wasn't part of Disney at the time so they couldn't make it obvious that's what it was. The end credit scene was an homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which had Ferris doing the same thing in the same robe in the same hallway "It's over! Go home!"
I just found out that the metal guy was eating grape nuts cereal. the joke is that brand of cereal cuts the roof of your mouth and he wouldn't feel it because he's metal! That's the kind of subtle joke I love in a movie 🤣

The one old lady that asia referred to as grandma is a famous actress from 70 s. Her son is a big comic book fan but she couldn't tell him she was in the movie untill opening night because she was Kent as a surprise cameo .

😂😂😂 That was great
@@Jay_Sullivanya I think Deadpool jokes aged terribly and it always was going to. I remember my friends really liking his comics in literally middle school and that’s around the level humor that it resonates with. The story, action, and wade wilson are awesome. Deadpool just gets a bit much though.
I was just finished watching this yesterday when I suddenly heard Asia's voice coming from my living room. It's just me and my elderly mom, so I was like "what is going on?"
I walk in the living room and there she is watching you two react to Drift Away by Dobie Gray. We'd never spoken about your channel(s) before. You two have serious multi-generational appeal!
The thing that will blow your mind is that he spent the whole time asking "where's Francis?", but none of his men knew him by the name Francis. He went by "Ajax" to everyone else. Only DP knew his real name.
Raunchy, bloody and so, so funny!!! My son took me to see the movie. I'd never heard of the charactor. Hilarious!!
Asia, the blanket was a good call. Your jaw dropped softly into it and was gently cradled almost the whole movie.
I was like she's going to need that blanket.
Deadpool is an anti-hero!
The X-Men they had were Colossus and Negosonic Teenage Warhead. And the after credit scene was an homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Ryan Reynolds is not acting... he is Deadpool 😂
i was hoping a long time that you guys check that movie out.. love it!!!
big greetings from austria 🇦🇹
Colossus! My fav X-Men character. He keeps everyone in line. Kinda Professor X's sargeant -at-arms
Deadpool is not a hero. He's a mercenary with a heart of gold.
"You said this was a superhero movie!" PRICELESS
Once Upon A Deadpool can be watched by kids. They cleaned it up as much as they could for the kiddos. Same move, clean version.
If it's a cleaned up version, it is definitely not the same movie.
OUaD is a pg version of Deadpool 2, not this one.
I think it's adorable Asia has absolutely no idea who Deadpool is and she's about to find out. :) How can you ask for a better reaction scenario? When I saw this movie the first time, I liked it but felt guilty about it and was kind of hesitant to say I liked it. After multiple more viewings, I can say, yes, I like it a lot.
To really understand this role, you need to have watched Green Lantern, then X-Men Origins: Wolverine, THEN this one.
39:48 -- The silver giant is Colossus, the young girl is Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The super strong woman with Francis is Angel Dust. -- All part of the Marvel comic universe..
He's an anti hero. And he's awesome! Most of us were scared that Disney would try to water down Deadpool when he came to marvel. But it looks like they are gonna let him continue to be his amazing self!
There’s zero chance that Ryan or Hugh would allow that to happen. And they have enough of a long term relationship with Feige to have more control
"The Dead Pool" was a 1980's detective thriller starring Clint Eastwood
Wasn't it the last of the Dirty Harry movies?
@@richardrobbins387 I believe so, though I've never been a big fan of the series. I was a kid when this came out and have since gotten more enjoyment out of the trivia around it.
Deadpool in the comics knows he's in a comic, he breaks 4th wall etc.
He isn’t the only one.
She-Hulk was well before him
@@jspettifer It was more of a stunt w She-Hulk. Where with Wade, it’s who he is.
@@therobotafroshow3289 No. it’s as inherent to her as it is to deadpool.
She does it throughout the comics
@@jspettifer She did not start off that way, so it’s impossible for it to be inherent to her as a character. Hence the phrase, inherent.
Asia is right‼️ I live bout 45 min north of Dallas in Oklahoma, & my family would get the Dallas newspaper, & they definitely DID have those 3d things🤣🤣
Asia's face the entire movie 🤯
18:10 Mark! That was a reference to his "Green Lantern" movie when he mentioned the animated green suit! 😂
Love the reaction! Texas! Lets go! Thank Y'all!
💪🏽🇨🇱
I don't think I've ever seen Asia this confused before!
35:28 Mark! That cartoon animation reminds me of "Happy" so I wonder if the same company of artists did both. 🤔 "Happy" is the title of a series about an Imaginary Friend Unicorn with that name who is the "I.F." of a crazy police detective! 😂
"I.F." is my new favorite Ryan Reynolds movie with "Free Guy" becoming my second one. 😊
"Did I leave the stove on?"....
This was one of the most unexpected, yet pleasant surprises for that year in cinema. Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool.😂
Now on to Deadpool 2! 😁
Him looking like "Spiderman with guns" has been mentioned more than once in the comics 😂
Y'all were not ready.....🤣🤣🤣
The after credits scene is a nod to “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (one of the original after credit scenes in a movie)
…complete with the last “chikachikah…”
One of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. I’m so excited for Deadpool and Wolverine 😊
ETA didn’t mean to rhyme lol
The way Asia looks at BJ when he starts jamming out to DMX was amazing 😭💀
Asia thinking this was a scary movie ❤ 😂
Should have started with the X- Men movies, so Asia has a little understanding of Super Hero characters.
@mrbaddog4749 I don't think it's that necessary tbh it's a good movie & Deadpool isn't your average super hero 🤷🏻♂️
@@nomad2057 I know Deadpool is a stand alone movie, but knowing a little bit super heroes ( like Wolverine ) will help with some of the jokes.
The "Magic Eye" is what was 3D in the paper
When Deadpool came out in 2016, you thought "wow", but you never watched it?
The story of how this movie came to be is crazy in itself. The script was leaked as well as test footage. I read the script before the movie came out. The part I remembered by the time I saw it in the theater was the bit where was fighting Colossus ( Titannium Terminator) :) It was perfectly executed.
Colossus was the metal man, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was the girl
Monster Magnet Dopes to Infinity
One of the best jokes in the movie is that Deadpool is asking everyone "where's Francis?" but no one knows him by that name only by Ajax.
Great video love Deadpool
No matter how many times I've seen this movie, i laugh til i cry.
You can see that sometimes his makeup will change, that's because of the tumors shifting around :P
When he says "maximum effort", he means it.
He's read the comics of his enemies before so he can find out how he beats them, and then does THAT :P
The big metal guy is Colossus, one of the X-Men, whose mutation is that he can convert his skin into organic steel, and he is the most straight-laced goody two shoes of the whole bunch. Seriously, he's like a D&D Paladin, Lawful Good and NO FUN ALLOWED :P
Ajax was a Classical Greek hero, the King of Salamis, and said to be stronger than all of Greece. Ajax the dish soap is "stronger than all grease". I think Francis had the former in mind when he named himself. Deadpool also has such a hard time finding him because he keeps asking his goons where Francis is, but they only know him as Ajax :P
That final confrontation is (unofficially) on a derelict SHIELD helicarrier like the one from Avengers. Fox wasn't part of Disney at the time so they couldn't make it obvious that's what it was.
The end credit scene was an homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which had Ferris doing the same thing in the same robe in the same hallway "It's over! Go home!"
Not to be confused with Dirty harry 5 The Dead Pool with a very young Jim Carrey too!
I just found out that the metal guy was eating grape nuts cereal. the joke is that brand of cereal cuts the roof of your mouth and he wouldn't feel it because he's metal! That's the kind of subtle joke I love in a movie 🤣
I'm shocked ya never seen Deadpool but glad ya did just so ya know his in between good and bad lol hope ya watch the second movie also love ya channels lol
When Asia says..."His mouth!" 17:45 That's Deadpools actual nickname "Merc with a Mouth"!😁
the girl is negasonic teenage warhead and the metal dude is colossus. This was a fox movie before Marvel bought them up so now its under disney which has been hard for them to fit in because its R-rated and none of the other marvel MCU movies are. The 3rd movie is deadpool and wolverine which is expected to blend them into the MCU in some fashion.
The final (bathrobe) scene was a homage to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
That's how all the Marvel movies should have been made. Rated R
It’s hard to argue that. Cause damn. Every comic I’ve read thus far is rated r
Deadpool was special because it was the first rated R movie for Marvel.
Outside of Blade. But you're right, first R rated Marvel flick since Marvel became "Marvel."
@@hanyougodyou really can just say Deadpool is the second r rated marvel film. Blade comes first no matter which way you slice it. Logan is third.
I mean there's the Blade movies, there's a couple Punisher movies, there's the director's cut of Daredevil...
If there was ever a movie for reaction channels, it's this one. I've never been disappointed with a reaction to Deadpool, yet! Thank you, Asia and BJ!
The one old lady that asia referred to as grandma is a famous actress from 70 s. Her son is a big comic book fan but she couldn't tell him she was in the movie untill opening night because she was Kent as a surprise cameo .
a subtle thing i always loved - DP keeps asking the goons where Francis is, but everyone else knows him by Ajax. they must've been so confused as he interrogates them.
46:40 Mark! 160,531 Views + Mine! 🎉 10K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊
Notes: The movie ratings are suggestions, not laws, according to one police officer, I asked who was taking tickets.
Parents don't want to miss out just because they can't afford a baby sitter or find one.
When I went to see "Deadpool & Wolverine" a father directed me to an empty seat in the row where his son and daughter were seated. The empty seat was by the wall. So anyway, the children were taking in words new to them! 😁
Bye for now! 🙏
Asia I’m from Frisco, just north of Plano and used to read the Dallas Morning News back in the 90s…and yes I know exactly what you’re referring to with the 3D illusions it had. Loved both of y’all’s reaction to Deadpool…it’s crazy!! 🤣
