    Just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me to get back into modeling after 5 years of being out of the hobby. I want to do this Y-Wing just the way you are doing it. Thank you for showing how you did it. I will try to keep everyone up dated on how it is getting along.

      The DeAgostini Falcon is what got me back into it after 25 years. Never realized how much I miss it

    Love your builds, can't wait to see more. And the engine lights are going to look amazing just from that test alone :)

    Hi mate, just wanted to say thank you for posting vids of your builds. I've never put a model together and wanted to get the DeAgostini Falcon but before I get that, I wanted to try something smaller. The Y-Wing is one of my favourites so I opted for this. Your vids have helped immensely mate and have give me the confidence. My model should arrive soon and I'll give you a shout out in my vid. Thanks again bud.

      Thanks. That's part of my goal, to give people ideas or help them with doing their own kits. Have fun with it, that's what I say.

      Much appreciated. If you have a link to some accurate pictures (for colour etc) I'd really appreciate that. I can't seem to track down any good original shots for comparison.

      I used my many books as reference, though I found some fantastic photos taken of the actual screen used miniature online, and I don't know where I got them now. I've searched but don't see them anymore.

    Looking forward to watching your next video. What wattage soldering iron do you like to use?

    What resources did you use to learn and understand the programming from, I am looking to do something similar with my 1/144 Millennium Falcon with lights and hopefully sound as well.

    could you please write down what those led are and that board? looks super cool!

      The LEDs are called neopixels. The board is a Trinket. I got the mini 3.3v Trinket. It's all at Adafruit.com. Amazing site

      The LEDs are called neopixels. I used the 3535 individual neopixels. The board I used is a Trinket. I used the mini 3.3v Trinket. It can all be found at adafruit.com. Great website with tons of cool stuff.

    Would you be able to list all of the parts you bought for the electronic side of things? I've never tried anything like this and would like to try and get it right first time! Thanks a lot.
    Also, I've followed other tutorials before and learned the hard way that varnishing steps are not always mentioned. Do you mention them at all points that you do them? Thanks again, this really is a seriously awesome project and massive resource for me and others.

      I usually try to either show painting a clear coat or mention a clear coat for weathering. Though I haven't done any clear coating for the Y-wing at all up to this point. Not sure yet if I will do any in this build or not to be honest.
      Here are the components I've used for my build. All of my boards and all will be explained more in an upcoming video when I finally wire it all up in the base.
      Trinket 3.3v control board (Adafruit)
      USB pwr boad (Ebay)
      Audio FX mini sound board (Adafruit)
      Mono 2.5w Audio Amplifier (Adafruit)
      20mm 1w 8 Ohm Speaker (Amazon)
      Tactile Button Switch (Adafruit)
      Latching Switch Button for pwr on/off (Ebay)
      Neopixel mini 3535 LEDs for engines (Adafruit)
      SMD 0402 LEDs for cockpit (Ebay)
      SMD 0603 Red LEDs for lasers and torpedos (Ebay)
      SMD 0805 Color Changing LED for R2 unit (Ebay)

    Hi chris, do you still have the code for the trinket that you could share for this build? I’m looking to get back into modelling and this looks like a fun start?

    Did you use solder or flux to attach tje wires to the trinket? It looks like you didn't in the video.

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they were soldered.

    where did you get the directory for the first line #include ? It keeps coming up as a fatal error.

    • @modelsbychris
      @modelsbychris  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It comes from Adafruit. You have to download it and install it in you directory

    Just caught this. Are you willing to share the code in your sketch? I'm working on a project that would benefit from the effect you've programmed. I've been working with the Arduinos for a while now and have a pretty good understanding but I'd still like to see how you did it.
