Me and my wife was just going through old things. She found an old hand painted jar of Pennies her great grandmother gave her. We have about 500 Pennies from 1909-58, plenty or San Fran and Philadelphia mints

Just starting the process of having my fathers collection appraised. About 20 coins from 1940-1947.
Are they in a slab or raw? I wouldn't waste your money unless you have some varieties that are raw or unattributed in a slab. You can do what the appraiser is doing with some research and time. JS

So I have a question, should we clean our coins? I've heard not to, but all of the ones you're showing are so clean. Mine have lots of detail, but are very dirty.
These are bu....brilliant uncirculated or mint state condition. NEVER clean a coin unless it has no numismatic value.
They're not cleaned but uncirculated
Can we use never dull?

Why Wasn’t The 1943 Copper Cent And 1944 Steel Cent On This List ?
Technicalities, this list is about varieties and those two are strictly speaking error coins. I did add them at the end though, couldn't well leave them off entirely.

I need help please. I have a wheat penny but it doesn't have the full date on it. I mean I can only see 19?? N it looks like it's a d mint mark but I can't read the last two numbers. I already used my magnifier n still can't make anything of it. What can I do?
In terms of figuring out what date it is, there's probably not much you can do. Sounds like the last two numerals were rubbed off due to wear or some sort of post-mint damage. If I were you, I'd keep it as a curiosity. It's at least a half a century old! 🙂

Extremely odd penny. I thought it just had just extremely violent life. However I was told that sometimes they are actually printing mistakes and struck multiple times.

Depends on the coin's condition. $500 to $2000 is a good range for a higher grade circulated coin(EF to AU).

I recently found a 1943 steel penny with an s mint mark in the normal location and then a d mint mark well below and just to the east on Lincolns jacket. I can not find another one like it and am new to coin hunting for errors. Any interested buyers out there.

The "F" under the date on the Buffalo nickel stands for the last name of the designer, James Earle Fraser.

I have a 1940 no mint, it's missing ( s t ) in trust, on the opposite side even with where the two letters that are missing, it has a gap , like it skipped , that's why the letters weren't put on
