great video ... informative and fun ... good scene composition ... perfect Tenkara water (8->}. will subscribe. And respectfully ... as a retired alaska fisheries biologist ... handle your fish A LOT less ... unless you're gonna eat them.
Fantastic video! It is so great to see people out enjoying the streams in the Kettle Creek valley. Thank you for sharing your adventure and thank you both for all that you do for the Kettle Creek Watershed!
I wish I found your channel sooner, this is top quality content! The way you explain how you fish an area is informative, while the filming style keeps the video incredibly entertaining. Keep up the good work!
Excellent job on the video Loved the waterfall footage!! Greenie weenies rock for brookies. Nice to see you showing the euro nymph method. Keep the good film coming.
+Blueline Overland thanks Craig! It was really a beautiful place to fish and explore. Just started the euro nymphing this past year and I think we are finally catching on. I think Dan (army backpack) has it down a little better than I do though but I'm getting better.
G'Day from Australia, Enjoyed your video very much. Beautiful little stream and brook trout. I like fishing similar sized waters here in Victoria, Australia for brown and rainbow trout but unfortunately no brook trout. They didn't take on as well as the other two trout. I've been following the Troutbitten site and would like try the Mono-rig. The longest rod I have is a 9foot 6wt which might be a touch overkill. Cheers, Steve.
Glad you enjoyed the video! We also follow the troutbitten blog and have learned a lot about tight lining from it. I actually used my 9' 6wt to tight line with just a few weeks ago when we went out to Montana. I'm currently working on editing the video now actually. It wasn't as easy to cast as the 3wt was but still worked. It's a great rig! Thank you for watching and commenting! Tight lines down under!
Awesome video! On Sunday I was able to get out form a half and hour on the stream 5 minutes from my camp. I had a bright red brookie take my indicator Adams. I wish I could have had more time, but we had to get our hunting spots ready.
+Hite Outdoors we headed up to camp a little earlier so we were lucky enough to have the extra time to fish. Very pretty weeks d to be outside though, whether you were on the stream fishing or in the woods hanging a stand. I just love it up there! Thanks for watching Kyle!

Amazing video! Very informative! Subd... Question, do you leave your tag ends on purpose? And only blood knots for your mono rig leader? I finally got a Recon nymph rod and want to have the best setup possible!
Thanks for the sub! Really appreciate that! And yes, we leave them on for greater visibility and also for greater surface area when floating out sighter for suspension nymphing. George Daniel writes about it in his new book and on his blog of you wanted to research it more. It would probably make more sense coming from him. As for the knots I use - a flu or uni is what I usually use but a blood know would work just as well. I use a triple surgeons for tying on droppers to my tippit. Hope this helps! Thanks again for watching!
We both used 10' 3wt rods. Our leader setup is 8' of 20lb Maxima to 1.5' of 12lb Maxima to a sighter with a tippit ring that connects to about 4' of tippit. We only used 4' since the stream was small and relatively shallow for the most part. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching! Tight lines!

Great job boys! I love your channel and videos and the care and respect you give to those little brookies! Awesome job!

Doug Roberts .....good time to dream of the next trip!
Another informative and entertaining video. Keep it up guys!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
That's the best. There is nothing better than being able to get in away from everything and catch beautiful brookies in the middle of nowhere
+Ralph Barton totally agree! We are very luck to have a camp in an area that has lots of streams to explore. Thanks so much for watching!
I noticed the emblems on the back of Mr. Roberts backpack, and I want to say Thank You for your service, sir !
+Piedscooter1 thank you for the support!

@@BackyardBassin No problem! What you just said makes complete sense, but will probably go check it out nonetheless. Thanks again!
I don’t know if you’ll see this because it’s kinda old but could you tell me the name of that olive backpack with the American flag patch on it
If you search "assault pack" on Amazon it is the fifth result. Sold by red rock outdoor gear. Thanks for watching!
Did you attach the mono to your backing or your fly line?
I attach it to my fly line so I can makea quick switch back to a traditional setup to throw dry flies. Works very well!
@@BackyardBassin Thanks so much, gonna give it a try in the Fall.
how far can you reach with the mono rig?
Probably about 20 feet effectively. Though for that distance a heavier fly is needed. At least for me anyways. Thanks for watching!
What rod and how long was your tippet?
We both used 10' 3wt rods. Our leader setup is 8' of 20lb Maxima to 1.5' of 12lb Maxima to a sighter with a tippit ring that connects to about 4' of tippit. @@BackyardBassin what luck as I just picked up the 10' 3 wt Recon yesterday 😁
Nice! That's the exact rod that I use and love the thing!
