I didn't like using the SS pins because it was a pain to pick them out of the dirty bucket water. But, I really needed to clean a lot of brass this past weekend so I ran some brass in the tumbler. While it was running I got a cup of coffee, dreading dumping the dirty water and pins into a bucket. I thought, there has to be a better way to do this! A fine screen instead of the sifting insert would work. I remembered ny new coffe maker came with one of those molded permanent filters with a fine screen. I prefer paper filters so I stored the screen filter. I found the metal screen filter fit the end of the tumbler. The end cap held it in place tight enough to drain the dirty water and rinse the contents several times till it ran clean keeping the pins with the brass. I can even dump the dirty water into a sink or bath tub this way without losing the pins. Everything goes into a rotary separator. A handful of pins stick in the drum but rinsing it with the screen in place gets them out. The coffee filter isn't strong enough to support the weight of the loaded tumbler so I don't set down on the end. I also use 1 gallon paint filter mesh bags to wash and store the SS pins. To dry the brass, my clothes dryer has a drying rack for shoes, etc. that I cover with 5 gallon paint filter bags to keep the brass suspended. 15 to 20 minutes on high heat gets the brass hot and carries away all moisture.

Is it a good idea to add a little baking soda to rinse brass to neutralize the acid. Just a thought !!!!

the instructions state that an overall weight of (i think) 30lbs is max. i loaded mine almost full of 9mm cases, 5lbs of media and water. the whole thing still weighed jn under the max rating. it is a beast, but works best when not full of brass. 1/2 full is where it works best in my opinion, but that is still a lot of brass compared to other competing models.

Not sure what the max weight is for the tank before overloading the motor but I've tumbled 31 lbs no problem. That includes 14 lbs 9mm brass, water & steel pins. It works great!.

I have the Lyman cyclone it came with 2 baskets 1 is for sifting the other has a fine screen to catch the pins. seems a little better to me. Regardless wet tumbling is the way to go does a very good job

Hi bud, I wonder if you could do me a big favour and let me have a couple of dimensions on the tub of the tumbler please. I need the diameter of the runners that go on the rollers, and the spacing of them if you wouldn't mind. Many thanks in advance, Bob

water is your friend. the pins cling to things with light amounts of water (surface tension). But if you submerge the brass in water the pins will slide out easily. i use a rotary media separator partially full of water and dump the brass and pins into the basket. a few turns of the drum and you have all your brass and pins seperated.

I find adding about 4-5 drops of jet dry dish washer rinse agent helps remove the surface tension keeping the pins from sticking to the brass.

Can that rubber liner inside the tank be removed to make it all plastic inside?

If you hear someone speak of tumbling brass and use the term "hours", they are doing it wrong.
    2 phases
wash with dawn to remove dirt - 30 mins
    decap brass, resize
polish with phosphoric acid and pins to polish - 45 mins
Marc M-252 Tuff Stuff Commercial Cleaner - amazon
    20% phosphoric acid
    cap full
Rinse, place tumbler in a 5 gallon bucket of water
to get water out of brass, place on towel and shake back and forth as if polishing a bowling ball

Use LemiShine an car wash/wax product. If you don’t have a foam at the end of your run, you need to increase amounts.
If you’ve increased your amounts an still have issues. You need to run a cleaning on your SS media alone.
I’ve had to clean my pins after 30,000 cases or so. Not a big issue,
      My 2 cents

Don't fall for the smaller version at Cabellas for
99 bucks. Small and does not come with stainless pins.... FYI

The lite version have a huge issue: no rubber inside, so the brass is less mixed and sometimes you need to clean again.
The 7L is bigger, come with media and clean better. Don’t take the lite.
