    I am sure you hear this all the time, but I am seriously in awe by how full your hair is. Thinking back to when you started, I seriously would not believe that you have fine hair if I didn't see the beginning of your journey.

    I have very thin hair and always wanted to get my hair locd so I started looking for people with thin hair who got sisterlocks when I found your page. Now I am getting mine done at the moment. I was afraid before but now I am encouraged seeing how beautiful your hair looks. I can't wait to start styling my hair like this.

    Hi, I watched all of your videos because I have a low density hair and I always wanted to have locs.
    Unfortunately I relaxed my hair but I am ready to go back to natural in order to have a clean start with locs! It will take me about one year to have enough length of natural hair but I already promised to myself!
    Thank you for all the info in your channel

    Kudos to you for getting it done 🎉. I'm seriously considering taking a retightening class so I can do it myself. I paid $325 for 4 hrs and have graduated to 5 hours which is $375! I know California is expensive but still. Paying this every 6-8 weeks is starting to be too expensive.
    I'm worried about how stressful it might be to do it myself but I'm def considering it.

    Way to go! I think you did a good job. I know a week may seem long, but you're saving a little money and you're now able to tighten up your own sisterlocks!! I'm only 3 months in myself, so I plan on my consultant being the only one doing my re-tightening for at least another 6-7 months. But now I'm hopeful that I'll be able to do some of my own re-ties every so often in the future.

    CCCHHHHIIILLLLEEEEE! Who you tellin'. 😳 I did my first retie an it took 10 hours.😑 Everything was tingling. Then I tried again two weeks ago and it took 7 hours. But it saved me $150.00. That's what my loctitian charged me for 2 hours. I was like....hell naah!! I ain't paying you $75.00 an hour for something I can do if I take my time. ✌🏾

    Good job! I'm 14 months loc'd. I got into this with the idea that I would take over my reties at a year in. But what had happened was my loctician went MIA, so I started doing my own reties at 6 months in. I use the Nappy Loc Tool. You may find the needle a bit easier to use if you shorten it next time around.

    You did great and your hair is really getting long now - wow! I started doing my own reties a couple months ago when my sisterlocks hit the 2 year mark. I started out just doing the first few rows, then the entire front, then my full head. I definitely ramped up. My loctician was encouraging each time I came in having done more and more of my retie so that was really cool. We still stay in touch now that I do my own. It is time consuming but I've gotten faster every time (the last retie I did here and there over a weekend) and it's sooo nice to have complete control of my schedule and be able to do a looser retie which my scalp definitely appreciates.

    Nice! Your hair is very similar to mine, but I think mine is slightly thinner in the crown area. I’m working on it though. I haven’t retied my own hair yet, but you made it look somewhat easy. Let us know if your loctition says that you did end up combining some of your locks. And lastly, your locks are pretty. A full 360 at the end would have been nice. Maybe next time. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Hi Elle Tee! Your hair looks wonderful, you did a great job! I did it once and it also took a week. I felt very accomplished. It looked pretty darn good, but not as expertly done as my stylist does. I had to get a mirror to see the back of my head. I could not “feel” my way through (not that talented). I was so so proud of myself, but like you, not sure if I’d do it again (if I had a choice)!

    • @ElleNikcole
      @ElleNikcole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ended up doing it again 🤦🏾‍♀️😂. I used screen mirroring on my phone this time. I also have a three way mirror but I typically have to stand up to use it, so I let that one go. I want to learn how to use a different tool. My threading method definitely takes time.

    You did a great job! The last time I did my own retie, it took me a week too. I used to do my own before but it’s so time consuming and I would accidentally combine locs or be inconsistent with the rotations. I prefer to let a professional do it, lol. At least I know if I’m in a pinch (like in lockdown!) I can do it myself if necessary.

      You should order the locking tool from Amazon, it makes it a lot easier. I've been doing my own since 6mos. in and I had scheduling problems. I do them all the time now b/c loctician didn't want me doing them at all so she refused to service me anymore, do I learned how to retie under pressure. I can get it done in 2hrs now😊

    Hey there from RVA…Usually when using the yarn needle for reties DIYers cut them n burn the end for better precision…With the dual lock tool the other end is used more for traditional locs but if u use that side it’s used like u would use a latch hook or open Bobby pin for interlocking microlocs/Sisterlocks…Hope that helps #quicktip

    • @ElleNikcole
      @ElleNikcole  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The first time I did it I took my time, went very slowly and made sure that I had clips that sectioned off the loc. it wasn’t perfect. My second time doing it I tried this screen mirroring method I saw on tiktok haha. That way I could see the back of my head without having to stand up at a three way mirror. I’d say, just take your time. It takes me pretty much a week to complete, and that’s me doing a couple hours a night during the week.
