They need to do an updated minifig scale DeLorean really. Make it more sleek like the Speed Champions cars and a lot less blocky and chunky. Maybe they could include it in a UCS set of the Clock Tower from the end of BTTF 1.
I built it and really like it. There were a few mods I made from what was in the instructions. I added the air intakes below the front bumper, I scooted the seats back by one stud, I used flat peices at the bottom of the side windows instead of the taller wedges to make the windows openings larger, and I used some of the BttF III extra parts to add "greebling" around the engine.
Yeah, the doors on mine flop down easily. I would love it if the doors stayed open! Otherwise, I love this set, and it was really fun to build! I’ve been waiting for LEGO to do this for years!
With being a big fan of batman I had to get the 1989 batmobile before it retired so I did and with being a back to the future fan though I did not see any of the movies until 2015 when I was 14 when they announced this I immediately made plans and started clearing room in my bedroom for the DeLorean set. So my lego plans for the rest of the year have greatly shifted to building larger sets as well as my main sets for Christmas time planed to be the 1989 batwing to go with the 89 batmobile as well as DeLorean to have the 2 movie vehicles from my childhood in lego since we don't have any Indiana Jones vehicles in UCS style yet.
I was late on ordering this set morning of April 1st so it was on backorder at the time but now is in warehouse so it would be great to get it soon though i will have to wait on building since it is supposed to be a birthday present for me next month. The last Lego set i purchased was the Lego Voltron and i had so much fun putting it together that i tried to stretch it out and not build too much in a day, so it took a while.
I’m usually not interested in the larger scale/non Minifigure compatible vehicles, but this thing is GORGEOUS. $170 is a lot but honestly it might be justified here…
Great review as usual Alex! Definitely on my list for this year. The Aston is no longer available in the U.K. unfortunately. Also don’t worry about your desk it’s nothing compared to my mess!
I’m a really big fan of the BTTF movies so once is saw the photos for this I was up bright and early yesterday to pick this set up. Out of all the Lego creator expert vehicle’s this is my favorite one surpassing the 1989 Batmobile. I’m just amazed at all the functionality it has for its size and the fact you can recreate each different version from the movies. Also the tires that were used are also the same size and width used on the dark red 50’s looking pickup truck.I think the best feature is the hover conversion of the wheels.
Today I finished building the BTTF Delorean, but while implementing two MOCs from Simon Lenz: th-cam.com/video/CnvKxRzuFG0/w-d-xo.html which is a real improvement for the set; it makes the resemblance with the original car much better.

Great set of Lego. Noticed at around 3:30-3:36, is there something wrong with the right back wheel? Looked like it’s not folded properly.

Considering the delorean has 2 exclusive figures and a lightbrick, it’s actually very good value when compared to the other cars

A way to fill up your Batman shelf is to buy the UCS batmobile from 2006 ,the 2021 tumbler and the 2021 techinic batmobile set.

I have the ecto 1 and want to add the Delorean to my collection but will the size difference make it look wrong
From what I remember the real cars had the same problems with the doors not staying up. Other reviewers have had the same problems too.
Just in filming because they run on a gas and the constant opening and closing of the doors they went flat so needed to be replaced

Mine also had same problem withe the door, it can't stay with open position…I think the door is just too havey……
Both of my doors wont stay up but i think that is just because of how heavy they are

For the price these sets cost they need to stop doing stickers. Thats the awesome thing about Mega Contrux = no stickers :)

Got it. It is great and is a nice improvement from the original. The report is it sold out world wide in 24 hours. I think that was predictable.
When it comes to doors, mine don’t stay up at all! I’ve had to add some extra LEGO to hold them in the open position. Disappointing 👎
