    Great video! I’m from Cape Town and spent a wonderful couple of weeks there recently. For your next trip to CT I’d recommend a day at The Spice Route (Wine, beer, gin, chocolate, biltong tasting, all at one beautiful location), a unique cupcake and wine pairing at Delheim Wine Estate, a cup of the best coffee at Truth Coffee Roasting, a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Cape winelands, a trip to World of Birds, a ride on the super touristy red bus (unbeatable views and you get to see A LOT), a trip to Hermanus for whale watching season, hiking then brunch at Fynkos in Kirstenbosch botanical gardens, a Saturday spent at the super hipster Old Biscuit Mill, either joining a tour group or asking an SA friend to drive you outside the city to see the epic Cango Caves, to feed baby giraffe at Chandelier Game Lodge, and to interact with ostriches at the Cango ostrich farm (my personal favourite). Also, for a fancy early dinner with stellar views, I recommend The Lawns. It’s literally on the mountain and you get the most epic backdrop to your meal!

    I want to say thank you for referring to the escape from the cape tour company . My friend booked a trip with them and his having a great time in Cape Town really appreciate your video and is very inspiring keep up the good work my friend planning to go back to South Africa next year with me. He said South Africa is pretty modern like Canada since we lived in Canada and Cape Town is similar to Australia .

    Glad you enjoyed this jewel of the south most African continent. Do find time to visit again, and again coz we love, love, you. There is lots more to see and enjoy here. The country is much bigger than she actually looks on the map and you cannot see everything, even if you were born here, like me. All nine provinces are unique and each have marvels to see and enjoy. I was born here some 30 years ago, but am still discovering new things and places in this country to this very day.

      Honestly if you think Cape Town is beautiful, it gets better if you drive in land. (Winelands, mountains, wescoast)
      Sep-Aug there are flower tours.
      We have a lot of wine cellars (with some of the best wines in the world.)
      We are also known for our beers and ciders.
      Biltong is a must try!
      Melktert, koesisters, bunny chow, a gatsby, and samosas.
      There is so much!
      You can also do shark cage diving, canoeing, there are sunset cruises.
      There is also the famous lighthouse in the Southest point in Africa that is a must visit (Cape Agulhas).
      But Cape Town is a great starting point.

Great scenery, that mountain, cold water to swim in so when there my days usually includes a drive to Bloubergstrand for a swim, great wine, awesome sunsets and a great vibe. Heya! Those colored houses reminds me of my trip to Curaçao 🇨🇼. Paragliding is one of my bucket list things. You’re so lucky to have experienced one right here. Also feels so weird to see my language in a commonwealth country 😁. Also I noticed your “good morning you guys” has been changed to “good morning my loves” how did that happen haha 😆. That lookout at Hout Bay is gorgeous. “Hout” is a Dutch word for “wood” by the way. Those penguins at Boulders Beach are so cute 🥰. I’m glad you’re feeling better now and that you’re recovered from the stomach bug. Thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure and have a great week 🤙

    When I went to Cape Town I stayed at a hotel apartment in the CBD and used the CitySightseeing Cape Town tour company on Long Street. They have a Cape Explorer tour of the Wine lands and Cape Point. They also have hop on hop off Tours of the city landmarks. It’s inexpensive and safe during the day. You can even arrange a helicopter tour which was fantastic.I wouldn’t say you must have a personal guide by any stretch. The guides on my day tours were great and i got a lot out of exploring Table Mountain and the beaches with the hop on hop off. And outside the tour office there were also some free walking tours of that colorful neighborhood and museum district. It was the best bang for the buck vacation in my life so I wouldn’t discourage someone if they can’t afford a personal guide. Not necessary in my opinion, especially if you explore in the daytime and use common sense. No different than when I visited Sidney in my opinion.

    We stayed in Cape Town the last 2 weeks with 2 friends. It's a very particular and beautiful place where rich a poor live really together. We saw beautiful places and landscape but we were assaulted twice in the city center, people tryind to robe us with violence. My 2 friends (girls) are still shoked of this violence and a little bit hurt. Still love the city and want to comeback again, but as we said at the end, this violence are the reality of Cape and part of the game but people have to know it.

    Well done, it was great watch a vlog about my home town that is not cringe-worthy (like Anthony Bourdain's poor attempt) . Compared to many other cities around the world, it appears that Cape Town is not easy to represent in a video. Probably because I live here 😅 Glad you enjoyed it, looking forward to the rest of the series! 👌

    I can recommend four beautiful places outside Stellenbosch, all within a few kms from one another, all wine farms. There is the magnificent Lanzerac with sweeping lawns, Oak trees, restaurant, deli and stunning old Cape Dutch architecture, then there is the outrageously beautiful Postcard Cafe on a wine farm closeby, with a stunning wine tasting venue in a Japanese pagoda style in the middle of a lake. At the top of the Helshoogte pass there is Delaire Graf, a really beautiful wine farm with restaurants and Spa, and on the left of the pass there is Tokara which has a wine tasting venue, restaurant with stunning views, and a deli down the road. All four these places can be visited in one day, depending on how long you spend at each

Iceland and Morocco are definitely two of the most wild and beautiful spots but I also love Japan and New Zealand. The safari in South Africa is unforgettable. The national parks in the US are gorgeous! The food in Singapore is unmatched. The people in Thailand are the BEST. See! You can’t choose just one 😂

    Awesome video !! I will be in Cape Town in about 2 weeks. My question is what what else do I need other then proof of Covid vaccination and a Covid test to enter the country of South Africa ??!! Thanks for your time !!

    • @travelforphoebe
      @travelforphoebe  ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn’t need proof of a test, coming from Australia, just an international vaccine certificate. We also needed to complete a form (Health Questionnaire), show our flight details, itinerary for our trip and download an app. The details on all these items were shared on the airlines website when we looked at our booking. We had to have all paperwork printed out. While they never checked to see if we downloaded the app, they definitely checked the vaccine certificate and took the printed/completed form. Our flight details and itinerary were checked in Australia at the airport as was all the other paperwork. I’m nervous to give specific advice in case requirements change so please be sure to check with your airline and any other online resource you can find to confirm current requirements 🙌🏻

    • @travelforphoebe

      I've never visited as a solo traveller so all I can do is share my experience and what I would do if I were to go by myself. I'd get a driver/guide 100% - that's what would make me feel the most confident and ensure I had the best time possible!

    Wasn’t the trip really dangerous because Capetown is famous for being a highly rated crime city and there are allot of shootings there.

    • @travelforphoebe
      @travelforphoebe  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Did the trip look dangerous in our video or did it look super fun?! :D I totally get why you'd have fears, we did before our first visit too. Both times we've had a guide/driver and had no safety issues at all. We listen to our guides, do our sightseeing with them with us and just follow the usual safety precautions we use for every trip we take (i.e. we don't get black-out drunk and wander off down a dark street alone haha). We love Cape Town and wouldn't hesitate to visit again :)

      @@travelforphoebe I would recommend getting out of the cbd and staying a few days down on the south peninsula. Kalk Bay is the most amazing little fishing village that just has it's own vibe. Amazing hikes, swimming in tidal pools, bars, shops, restaurants and a harbor all in walking distance in one place. Park car and do it all. Kommetjie, Scarborough and Noordhoek are all down that side too and also amazing. :)

    Sad statement, you need a guide to feel safer, not be safer just feel safer….. does not sound good…. Guide should be there to help ensure you don’t miss anything not feel safer or been safe….. but then with a crime index of 83.9 - very high, might not be the best place to visit

    • @travelforphoebe
      @travelforphoebe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear what you’re saying but I guess it’s a personal thing then cos I feel safer when I’m with a guide in any city. You know they’re familiar with any spots tourists may be targeted with scams and steer you clear of anything that could result in you having a less than wonderful time. That local knowledge and insight is what you pay for 😊🙌🏻
