Yo dude this was written for Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, their drummer who died of an enlarged heart disorder in 2009 (i believe), its part of "The Rev Trilogy" - "So Far Away", "Fiction" and "Save Me". Also, Rev wrote a lot of the drum parts for this album like on songs "nightmare" and "buried alive" but as he died during writing, they got Mike Portnoy, his favourite drummer to help finish the writing and recording. Another fact: fiction was the last song the Rev wrote for the band, he wrote a lot of the stuff on their self titled album, and he actually sings on Fiction.

It was actually a drug overdose but he was born with an enlarged heart which didn’t help

And a crazy thing about Fiction is Rev wrote it three days before he died
He’s written many popular songs such as Almost Easy, Afterlife, A Little Piece of Heaven and has a lot of screaming vocals on Waken the Fallen songs such as Chapter Four and for the self titled album, Critical Acclaim, Almost Easy, Afterlife and many others, he sang as well as Fiction. Rev truly was legendary

This band holds a very special place in my heart and it was the main reason I started to really enjoy rock/metal. Ever since 2006 I have seen their progression as artists and all I can say is you will definitely enjoy their songs.

I love this song and A7X as a whole, for me I get two versions of this song, One version is for the former drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sulivan, who died during the making of this album, and the other is for my grandfather who passed a few years ago, this song is heart wrenching for me no matter what, and this was a great reaction
