Cottage homes I went to school there brookside pupil referral unit thy got me all my grades we went camping kayaking absailng it was brilliant 👏 thks billy brings bk gr8 memories
I Was born in Fazak , 56 Monrovia Crescent, January 1965 It's still there until this day 😮💨 What a fantastic job they are doing training Potential people seeking a career in the Merchant Navy and at sea Personnel , on Fire protection and safety 👍👍👍👍
It was the cottage homes... the work house! My oldest cousin (born in 1944) lived there till he was 15 years old. Very strict. When he was a baby he went to Olive Mount, but once you were 5, you went to Fazakerley.
Oh Billy I love your videos and speaking out about the homeless which is greatly needed, not only that you are helping your friend to get sober which is amazing, I lost my husband and son at hboro and I know what it’s like to sink in to alcoholism I feel I need to speak out about my journey and whatever way I feel I need to get it out of my system and I think you can help Xx
When we were kids the mams would threaten the kids with being sent sent to the cottage homes if they were naughty. Used those baths with Barlows Lane primary. The changing rooms were either side of the baths. They were tattered/torn missing curtains on the boys side giving the girls a good laugh as we tried hiding behind towels.
I'm a Brummy..got out of Walton in 2004 and lived in a big hostel in Fazakerley for a few months whilst I tried to stay clean for a while..I quite liked it there lol😂 on a side note it's great to see old buildings like these and the pool etc having money invested into them and kept open and relevant and functional..too many times in our cities we see battered vacant building burned out and left etc.
Billy, you should do a pod about the history of Fazakerley, including the hospital, the Fazakerley family and how the cottage homes came about. That would be so much more interesting x
I was a binman for 22 years that was my round every Friday, I seen it derelict an run down the only building at the time that was used was the nursery behind the clock on the right ,it's nice to see they have saved the baths an turned so many into residential living it's a pity they don't do nothing with the canteen in the clock building itself 😊😊
The dreaded verrucas. They were painful. That was the worst thing about communal swimming pools. Do people still get them these days? You never hear about them. x
Yeah Kingsway baths in Lancaster was the same, absolutely riddled with em and you had to get them either burnt or frozen off which was fucken painful, but to answer your question Miss muffet not heard about em for yrs it must be a big CONSPIRACY THEORY, Haha 😂💙.
I learned how to swim in that pool. Back in the late 50`s and early 1960`s, our primary school (Barlows Lane) used to arrange regular visits to the `Cottage Homes Bath`. Mr Varley was our regular teacher in this activity.
Born and bred in Fazakerly used to be a great place to live. Not so much now. There used to be an old fella called Corny, when I was a kid who used to stand outside the homes telling everyone it was half past two, every single day. We used to swim in the baths with the school. Happy days.
I grew up in Kirkby but emigrated to Canada in 2001 and really enjoy your channel Billy, the place you were in used to called Cottage Homes where a lot people with mental illness and other challenges lived in the houses or group home, everything was great as they were cared for, got their medications and had a daily routine, then the health authority introduced care in the community and closed down the cottage homes and put residents into flats and made them responsible for taking their own medication, feeding themselves etc which was pretty much a fail, many ended up living on the streets or in jail for petty crimes, you probably came across a few who shouldn't have been put in prison but simply slipped through the care net of a failed system?
Hey Bill I heard a bit of you this afternoon talking about people calling you a smackhead or what not not you are strong enough deal with anything but it’s out of order saying that to you yer a decent man

It’s nice to see some listed buildings are being used and not left to rot.but I think of the youth today are not bothered about their history that is the problem of the country.well done billy 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

No but it’s a great location for filming
I remember being in Dyson Hall in 81 82 and one of the staff took me watch Everton when I think Bob Latchford played for them. I met some top lads from Liverpool.
