Wilson Spin Control is a great idea but does it actually work? My conclusion is that it does and I'm actually a fan but realistically it will wear down after time and become less effective. It is also important to note that it will never make a bad fielder good. The difference is very very minor. I'd love to see some pros use this at some point.

i have a 2021 Wilson a2000 spin control and i’ve had it for almost a year and the dimples held up pretty well. yea it had worn down a lot but it’s not as bad as i thought it would be. and from my use it didn’t help to much but i felt like it helped in a few plays. like diving for a ball and hard hit balls with a lot of spin

    • @ballgloveking

Yeah I’d imagine most people feel very similar. It probably makes a very small difference but it doesn’t seem to have any major negatives

I bought this glove like 3 weeks ago and played my first game with it and took many groundballs, Honestly although it doesnt make me a better fielder with my movements of course, it actually did make me so much more confident in any ball that was hitting my glove. There were a few balls that I didn’t field cleanly and the ball felt like it really did stick in there. The mental side of this confidence in the glove really actually did make me a better fielder in that sense. So yes i very much see this glove as a plus and certainly was never a negative in my experiences so far.

If you ever wonder if dimpled leather helps or not, grab a pair of dimpled batting gloves and throw a frisby. It deadens spin in its path. You don't feel it as much in a ball glove because so little of your finger actually works into the glove, but it works. You can take a wire mesh to your glove and get the same effect, just looks a lot crueler.

Yeah the difference is only in the leather. So at that point it comes down to which one feels better to you.

    • @ballgloveking

There’s a ton of great gloves, if you are buying used it has more to do with the individual glove and what kind of condition it’s in plus how well it was broken in
The flare isn’t a bad idea, but a Wilson 1786 or a Rawlings pro200 model are very well rounded gloves so if you find a good deal those would be great

I assume he meant “sued”-as in the past tense of “to sue” because SSK did it first (or at least before Wilson)…where’s the new baseball facility? What city?
