Lonesome road to me feels like the thematic end of the older fallout games. We always hear the phrase ''war ... war never changes'' but in the dlc they add into the line ''if war doesn't change , men must change.''
Yeah, it has a lot of finality to it. If you could go past the battle of hoover dam, the DLCs (Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road) would be a fourth act. Like how fallout 3's DLCs function as a fourth act. I like to think the east coast fallouts are the farthest things from the west coast. Since the west coast sort of contain an overarching narrative through the all three games, while 3, 4, and 76 all feel very disconnected from one another.
@@plutoniumrocksI agree. The next Fallout Game needs a boss at the level of a Master or Frank Horrigan. Lanius is a good encounter, but doesn't have the feeling of hopelessness or high pressure. Ulysses does it better, but his is a DLC meant to happen before the Hoover Dam battle, and Oliver feels more like a mini boss. The next main game end boss needs to feel insurmountable to give it that old Fallout feel. I like NV, I liked 3 and 4, but it's time to give us a real end boss again.
I like how the Lonesome Road gives the playable character a rich history without giving a definitive past allegiance with any factions and leaving their intentions vague(Ulysses himself only theorizing as to why Courier made the final delivery to the Divide), thus still leaving the true personality of Courier to the players and not hindering the roleplay make-your-own-character element.
