Putting smart hostile NPCs in zomboid would make the game 100x scarier. Like imagine if they all waited until the others were done destroying the windows before charging in.
Imagine stacking the hivemind zombie mod with the bandits mod :D

Very good mod , these fuckers can even take the wheals of your car , and they turned off his generator
They are smart, when they attack they will try to sabotage you in any way, they can also stay in any building to ambush you but it akk depends on your settings
I haven't felt this afraid while playing since the demo!

How could they cut the power, man? They’re animals!
Imagine one of your three friends finally breaks through a window, only to have a hail of bullets tear through their skull. Yet, whilst you stand there firmly gripping your crowbar, you think to yourself "I'm built different" and the last thing you see is the rapid turn of the homeowner and the dazzling muzzle flash.
Foolish are they who think that rushing into a defended area blindly will go well
they're naked in a zombie apocalypse wearing undies, bloodied and frenzied, i don't think they are sane enough to decide what's foolish and fun
Let me tell you how my very first 3 encounters with the bandits mod went.
1. Looting a video store after a horde wipe and start hearing the windows being smashed down. Three dudes in just their underwear wielding pickaxes and a Bat charge me. Knocked down the first dude and dodge rolled away from the other two coming in at my flanks. Run out the store and proceed to get chased by these naked dudes for about 2 minues before i was able to gain enough distance to pull out my shotgun and blow them away.
2. Uncle Red Bunker. After a night's rest, I go to what i call a communications room (TVs and radios all over) and the moment i flip on the light and shut the door behind me. It burst open 10 seconds later and two dudes entered, Jason Voorhees and a Knight from the medieval days. Thankfully, my shotgun was still in hand and i was able to blow them away as well. Paused the game there to take a breather because this was the worst scare I've had in zomboid in quite a while and my blood pressure was bothering me. Come back and start to secure the bunker again for bandits this time. Inside was secured but the zombies were making quite the ruckus outside. Go out to check and two more dudes were fighting zombies at my entrance gate. Kill them and the zombies and decide that my plans for that day was to fortify the bunker. Which leads to my third and tragic encounter.
3. I found a warehouse pretty close to my bunker and after clearing out the zombies, I start looting. I hear gunshots outside but foolishly decide that I need to finish checking every shelf before i dip. Last shelf had a Sledgehammer and Propane bottle. Take those two and the back door to the place kicks open and two dudes with pistols come in. I struggle to switch out the sledge to the shotgun and take a few hits before I'm able to kill those men. I go to shut the backdoor quickly and planned to heal myself in the restroom but I ended up going out like Tony Montana and a bandit with a shotgun of his own came up from behind me through the front door and blew my character away.
Im sorry for the paragraphs but this all happened in a span of 3 and a half in game days. It was freaking wild man.

The fact that the game lets me preserve broccoli in a jar by microwaving it always makes me laugh.
The way they suicidally run straight into your bullets makes it feel like more of an alternative to sprinters than an actual human threat.
I mean, not like they COULD do much. Either show their faces, or not.

@@BluBeatsi saw an other mod that add bandit that make if you have a fire arms and point has them if they also don't have a pistol they will put their hand in the air
You would be surprised how often this tactic works. The melee bandits can can get really fast to you, and if your weapon is unloaded or stuck, you are in big trouble.
@@pave24 And how often it's tried, even when you show your weapon. Careful people don't go looking for violence. Only certain types with low impulse control will do that shit. I've had to deal with it, and it was just one guy. It didn't take drugs. The guy wasn't on em. He was just a ghetto idiot who didn't believe I'd injure him. So I did. And he ran crying like he couldn't believe it. 13% of people are profoundly, deeply stupid.
This reminds me of a scene from the movie "The Survivalist" where the main guy's base was getting raided, raiders were knocking on the walls and windows the entire night trying to find a way in and all he had were 2 shotgun shells

I used this mod but it can be a bit OP. The bandits can remove all your car's tires and battery in 0.1 second, can destroy your stuff through walls and also jump through the wall (not window). Yes they can jump over fences, and walls like you. But you can't jump over an enclosed wall with a roof. They can.
From what I know, the author of the mod has now allowed us to adjust how much sabotage and grief they can give us. It always helps to fine tune and balance things to your liking!
Alright, this convinced me to try out the bandit mod. It would be a good way of hopefully being able to simulate what Build 43 will be like after all.
You won't be disappointed! Don't forget to fine tune things to your liking.

These bandits seem smarter than the npcs in Superb Survivors mod
It's a total night and day difference! I totally recommend you try it!
Superb Survivors is rather outdated and buggy today.
Superb survivors used an advanced AI that degraded overtime.
Bandits mod takes zombie sprinters and tweaks them to act like humans.
It's an ingenius method to avoid overloading the game engine.
Back in like... 2021? I remember first playing Zomboid, getting the Superb survivors mod, and loading into Raven Creek.
I escaped RC, went into the deep woods, found a cabin, and lived there. It was a quiet life.
Until I was taking some furniture apart, I heard my door open, and three humans run inside. I fought tooth and nail, and it was the scariest experience of my life lmfao. The new feeling that zombies couldnt bring, of someone just waltzing into your house and trying to take you the fuck out. BEST MOD EVER.
Watching this? I might have to try it again....

Avtomat Kalashnikova as usual coming in clutch. That was terrifying and I didn't even know what was happening.
They're just acting like zombies with weapons. No one would run towards a guy after hearing that gun.
They were a group of crazy survivors. I'm sure their reasoning went out the window when they decided to rush a barricaded house while wearing and wielding nothing.
You should watch some police body cams, then. "People" do that shit all the time. You're living the zombie apocalypse right now. You just pretend the zombies are human.
Had a mod installed i encountered the group of hunter with LMG aks and bolt action turning my crown vic into swiss cheese but good thing im heavily armored and also armed to the teeth managed to kill them before my character died. Shot them with my XM8 and MP5SD.
I wonder what they were hunting... Oh wait, I guess with guns like that, you!

Downloaded this mod thinking it looked cool and after a while of starting a new playthrough I almost forgot about it and pulled over to get out of my car to check something on the side of some random road, just to see some motherfucker crouch walking on the opposite side of my car from me lol. I got hit with such a profound wave of confusion and panic because for a second I completely forgot I installed the mod and thought it was just a zombie until I saw the melee weapon lol. I swear modders are doing the lords work.
Don't forget to check your corners!
the best way to actually deal with this mod is to pick veteran. the mechanic that controls panic for the bandits is really buggy and will give you a massive heads up before they get close. combined with veteran you only get panicked by bandits.
also, the way they idle like zombies until they attack is traumatizing.
How common are they? Because I might replace superb survivors for this one because SS is super laggy. I just don't want my base ransacked every 10 minutes.
There are settings you can change. Just remember it’s a chance EVERY hour for them to spawn. I changed all of them for mine to 0.5%. It make not seem much but there are about 16+ different types that can spawn. When I left it at default, I could never get more than an hour of sleep before something would spawn.
@@EM-Pan Thank you, I think I might set mine to 2% so statistically they should only spawn every couple of days. Also is the mod laggy like SS?

When I left it at 2%, I got attacked about 6-7 times a day lol. As far as lag goes, the framework from this game is different. SS uses simulated players which causes so much performance issues. Bandits is zombies with skins and different AI. It behaves a lot better. Just keep in mind that it may conflict with mods that edit zombie behaviors since they are “zombies” after all.
@@EM-Pan well that seals it, when I get back on the game I'll swap out SS for Bandits. I think I'll try 2% and see if I get different results but if it's too much I'll definitely lower the chances. My main problem with SS was that if there was as little as 2 survivors loaded in my frames would drop so much and my mouse would just disappear off the screen sometimes lol. But thanks for the advice I'll give it a try the first chance I get. I don't have any mods that alter zombie behaviour on so I should be fine.
@@joe_mmamaa yeah NP! It’s very modular. You can edit % chance of spawning with melee or ranged weapons and how many magazines they spawn with. I loved SS but the performance just broke the game to oblivion. Even with the spawn limiter, it still killed my pc. Bandits just doesn’t have the same “commands” you can give to the friendly spawns. I suggest to start a new game with bandits and play around with the settings and features before adding it to your main save. That’s typically what I do when adding a new mod. Good luck!

The NPCs implemented in build 42 better be smart. I want to come across other groups, some nice, some mean. I wanna create groups of my own, trade with other groups, build compounds. I hope they aren’t dull NPCs.

i literally used this same house as a base not that long ago. its a great location, rural enough that hardly any zombies are seen nearby, and close enough to town that you could walk if you need to.

We would have to use up to date technology to really get started on intelligent AI, i think the devs are normal dudes instead of super dedicated gaming company drones so idk but this is tuff af
Adds stress to the environment but not well thought of. so much banging attracts Zeds, doesn't make sense for the bandits to make that much noise and stay idle at that place. They're likely gone before they are able to take down the door/ metal window.

Zomboid is just Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead for casuals. The same thing could be said about Rimworld being Dwarf Fortress for babies. Graduate to the better game and don't look back.
Does the bandit mod have the same "Hit animation skip" glitch that suberb survivors does? because i find it really annoying when some guy with a plank shreds my health and armour in 2 seconds
opps didn't even read the how to use generators magazine but turned it off
Im not gonna sugarcoat it it works on multiplayer (+ its get harder the more time youre alive stuff start to spawn like bases camps and stuff and they seem to use some of my mods like the weapons and armors and there was this cannibal base that used the zomboid vaccine mod they had the morgue table and trash bags with corpses an item from the mod they even had the snake mod wood saw table)
they also loot bodies fight zombies dismantle your vehicles turnofff your generators destroy walls ambush you fron blind flanks and much more there are even enemies between themselves somes factions i called them that way in dependence of the clothing will fight other factions if they meet thay can also turn into zomboids once bitten and the oters will try to fight them
they are affected by some zomboid behaviour changer mods so becareful what youre using XD

What I wanna know is why half of them were wearing nothing but underwear.
In the mod, you can set it so that in the early start of the apocalypse, you encounter normal people who just lost their way and went crazy. But eventually, as time goes on, you will start encountering military, biker gangs, and roaming bandits.
It will really change needing to have your gear on you and needing walls in SP. Making a large base might not be so much of a breeze anymore.
Large bases in SP will become stressful to maintain now. If you have a break-in you might need to clear everything.
Have you tried that new NPC framework mod? I forget what it’s called exactly, but it’s something along those lines and it’s supposed to succeed superb survivors.

This mod has next to no problems on lag compared to Superb Survivors. It's so much more optimized. Though with that in mind, I will assume that if you try to crank the faction spawn numbers to something wicked, it might lag a little.

@@Anthonnnnn I HIGHLY recommend you do tweak spawn rates to something you'd declare fun.
Some examples I have done:
-Have a 5 pack of roaming prisoners, with some having a chance of having a handgun
-If playing at the start of the apocalypse (highly recommend), make it so that people start spawning once the power and water goes out. Makes it really feel like a societal collapse. >:D
-Set every faction's (except maybe 1) friendliness setting to random. It's the end of the world, you can't trust anyone!
This works on MP (check my other video) bring your friends along too!

@@poligrant5152 Very top house north of West Point. It's secluded enough, but not too remote, has access to a water source, forest, farm, and defensible with a carpenter! Bandits mod might even give you a welcoming party from the neighbors involving 9mm too!

Do you play with both zombies and bandits or just bandits. I feel like with bandits only the game would be so different, instead of a zombie apocalypse it would be more like the purge
From my understanding of the mod thus far, bandits can only spawn if there are zombies turned on. Otherwise I woulda made my game into a pseudo The Last of Us!

imagine hearing banging on your barricaded doors and windows as you frantically look around at them all, as an unknown force tries to break in, you look around, terrified at this unknown force, are they armed? do they have guns? the intrusive thoughts don't help.
The barricades finally crumble on one of the windows, a man runs in, sprinting at you, you gun him down immediately, but now it makes you realise how unsafe you are.
At any second, another could come out, and another, and another, and yet you have to watch several angles at the same time.
*There could be a horde of them for all you know*

This mod add a hostile NPC to the game where longer you lived the harder they are. it's like in the beginning it's just only pistol and melee weapon you were fighting but as soon as the day count increase it become rifle and better equipment for the hostile(like you're fighting with military).
even it's full of hostile NPC there are also change that you may encounter a friendly NPC however in this current state there is not much option to do with a friendly NPC beside following a player and guarding the area therefore developer plan to make more functional friendly NPC

I tried this mod but set all factions to one day right after another for start, and for some reason every faction I came across were zombies. Like every faction. Anyone know why this is? My modlist is not extensive either: Brita’s weapons, Insurgent Trait and start, here they come, Louiseville Containment Zone, Air-dropped LAV and breakable fences (the one where zombies can break ALL fences.)
I have 2 ideas I can think of that might help:
1: I remember a bug being mentioned that when if one were to close the game, and start it again, any bandit NPC that was spawned at the time of the shutdown become zombies next time the game starts up. If this is the case, I have no idea how to counteract it aside cranking zombie hearing up and having them join a horde. One of those cases where we have to eat it cause at the end of the day, this is a mod.
2: Do me a funny favour, and remove the "Here They Come" mod from your list, and restart the your run. From my understanding of this mod, the author reverse engineered the zombie mechanics of the game. Therefore, any mods relating to the behaviour of zombies may adversely affect the Bandits mod too.
