Very nice , the rest of the automaker’s should take a lesson on how to do a window regulator. Thanks for not cutting out your mistake, and making it a real learning video.
I am 79 years old and have been an automobile mechanic since about 1958 or so. I would hate to try and explain to you how many times I have had to stop and backtrack due to situations like you had with the backwards regulator. I had to learn the hard way before the internet. Now whenever I have to tackle a new job the first thing I do is jump on youtube. Yup....modern is better than old school. Keep up the great videos. Thank you!
I commend you for trying, and ultimately accomplishing the task at hand. I do that type of work for a living, and every job has its challenges. I’m curious as to how long it actually took you to do it. I average 10 minutes per regulator or door glass. One tip, most regulators or motors wear out because of the drag between the glass and window channel felt. With electric motors, one doesn’t usually notice until it’s too late. Silicone spray with a straw sprayed into the tracks in the door will help the longevity immensely. I recommend once a month or so. Believe it or not, the least used windows often wear out first. The summer heat makes the rubber bond to the glass when it’s not often used. If you have an old style manual crank window that’s difficult to roll up and down, try the silicone spray. You’d be surprised how easily they glide. Just remember to spray in the track with the window rolled down so as not to make a mess. Good job!
I love your smile even though, I know you might get frustrated sometimes. My dad, RIP dad, always said working on a car was always a learning experience.
Realistic car repair (or any kind of mechanical repair). Emily you are not a dumb dumb. I admire your determination and at least you are not afraid to try and learn. Never give up.
I like that you show the oops's along with the how to. Your videos are so much fun to watch but I would love to see more Finley!! Waiting for the next one.
My son (12yr) gets so frustrated when he doesn’t get something right the first time . I laugh at him and tell him “ you should come do some repairs with me “ if I get something right the first time I say THANK YOU LORD because it is a miracle !
I was going to add. I know a guy who is and was at the time, who left a shop rag in the intake manifold. Fired the car up, it ran a little funny, spit little burnt pieces out the exhaust. Ended up removing the carb, and found the remainder of the rag. Then he removed the heads and leak checked the valves.
found your channel through your thing with vice grip garage, love how you owned up to the mistake of putting it in backwards. looking forward to going through more of your videos, keep up the good work
Just installed one just like it. Had a few extra parts at the end but it's in! The kit wasn't exactly like what came out but close enough as it fit. That's the reason for the extra parts I hope. Thank you for the video!! I don't think I would have tried it without it.
Heck yeah. You nailed it ! Keep on making these family friendly videos. And let’s get more Garfield in the future Emily. If not we’re gonna call your old man and tell him to take over lol. Kidding, he’s cute but not as cute as you. Merry Christmas
As always another fine video from Flying Sparks Garage. What I truly love about your videos is like you said "we include the mistakes" On another note Emily, I feel I have to turn in my "Mechanic Card" It took me a few minutes to figure out what the numbers meant on your Tee Shirt. DUH!
My rear window mechanism exploded on Dragweek 2018. That stupid foam was the hardest part. Also looks like the adhesive failed on the back of your front seats as well. Superglued mine back in.
Emily, all is well that ends well. Not that it has ever happened to me personally, but I've heard of people putting in parts backwards (ha!). Just an FYI for others, I just bought a plastic pry set from the H.F. for $4. I considered growing my nails long and beautiful like Emily's but that didn't seem to work out. Have a electric lock on my passenger side door that needs looking at so this video may motivate me some to tackle that task. Merry Christmas. Thanks for Sharing!
I love you guys, you are the kids I wish i had because you take on jobs and don't worry about making mistakes to show off your human side of life. Keep the mistakes coming😂😂
Good job Emily. We all make mistakes. Thats whats Called being Human. Dont let no one get to you. The keyboard warriors is who I mean.. Great Job. And Video .
Aah...so many others should look at your DIY... informative! I often have to guess at the missing steps or helpful info they don't convey... Great Job!
We don’t mind your mistakes. We all made them at one point or another. I still make mistakes , it’s how we learn. It’s a bonus for us … it gives us more screen time of your great attitude.
You guys ROCK as always. I found your channel because I too bought a "big broken boat". Haha Thanks for sharing your wide variety of adventures and knowledge.
Great work Emily. Great coaching and camera work Aaron. I really like how quite Aaron was while filming, until he saw that you needed help. You two are an awesome compliment to each other.
It's easy to remove Loctite from bolts with a wire wheel but for small bolts and screws you can remove Loctite by soaking them in paint remover for a few minutes.
I appreciate you pointing out what could easily be missed if doing for the first time. Fantastic job. Merry Christmas to you and yours (including Finley)
Success!! Very well done and congratulations on a fine job. Saved yourselves a lotta dough and improved your skills and knowledge base. I always find it very satisfying to figure it out yourself.
@pinnedby Flying Sparks Gar... Hi your videos are very good and I always enjoy them. You both look like you are enjoying each other and work together great. The short videos with the voice overs were really funny.Take care and keep upthose great videos.
This is why I have so much love and respect for you two. Y'all aren't afraid to show that y'all are human and make mistakes just like the rest of us. It all worked out great in the end though. And did you send your rain over here to Arkansas? lmao.
Another educational Audi video! Thanks! It seems odd that a rear window failed, because they generally don't get much use. Fascinating that the whole window and guides and drive system are a "cassette" that is dropped into the door frame.
Good job ‘Em. I often take photos with my phone as I’m dissembling something so I can reference them when reassembling. Merry Christmas to you both. 🎄😘
The different bolts can be a pain so I drew a stencil of the door on a piece of cardboard and stuck the bolts into the place on the drawing where I took the bolts out.
i thought this job would of been like a vw where they make you take off the whole outer door skin to repair the regulator. now i know how to fix an audi regulator if i come across one
I have the same problem with my 04 mustang convertible, my driver side window stopped working, I thought it was the motor when my dad helped me figure out the problem by giving the motor a love tap, and it worked again, for a day till it stopped working again. That’s not the end, the other windows stopped working as well except the passenger window, I doubt it’s an electrical issue, maybe, or maybe it’s the master switch that burned most of the switches except the front passenger side window, hopefully it’s that
Sooooooooo, you tighten the glass mounting bolts to 2 Hee-Hees instead of 2 Ugga-Duggas? Great camera work, A-A-Ron. Shop Foreman Finley is awesome. Emily, thanks for being authentic about installation errors.
I’m just here to see Finley ! lol Merry Christmas 🎄 Nice work… my friends Ford Escape needed a window regulator in the rear left and it put up a good fight !
I have the same A3 but black and got it a few weeks before you guys posted your first video with it. Curious which stage 2 tune you have and if you guys did it or it was there when you bought it. Love the vids.
I made the same mistake the other week fixing my daughters A3 regulator (on the drivers door). With the difference I never mounted those screws. Messed up the assembly completely when testing the power window. 2 weeks later still not fixed. Have to buy a new regulator 😂
Did you always have those screws? I bought my A3 used (same window regulator as in the video) and it didn’t have those screws when it broke and I took it out.
What year is that Audi...I dont see how you rolled window down without panel back on. I having this problem with a 2008 model A3. But without panel connected I can't roll down windows or any function on driver's side.
Question. Does anyone know where to get the 2 black screws that went into the yellow tabs? I recently replaced my regulator but my window fell because I didn’t have those screws.
Hey Emily I have a question I recently bought me a GTO with holding monaro badges anyway I like the way your wheels look on yours is there any way possible you can give me the size of your wheels and offset your street Wheels not your drag wheels unless it's the same thing then that'll be great please let me know if you would by the way keep up the good content love your channel and love Roxy that's what made me buy my GTO of course mine's not hopped up like yours it's a 04 with 80,000 miles all original pristine thanks a lot

its so clean in there, Merry Christmas.
Realistic car repair (or any kind of mechanical repair). Emily you are not a dumb dumb. I admire your determination and at least you are not afraid to try and learn. Never give up.
Dandy and sassy. Love the lingo
We've all made mistakes, the honorable thing is to own up to it like you did Emily. Good job!!!!!!!!
I like that you show the oops's along with the how to. Your videos are so much fun to watch but I would love to see more Finley!! Waiting for the next one.
good ol German engineering.. pretty straight forward 👍
Just swapped my regulator out. Your video was far better than the others on TH-cam! Thank you for the step by step instructions!
My son (12yr) gets so frustrated when he doesn’t get something right the first time . I laugh at him and tell him “ you should come do some repairs with me “ if I get something right the first time I say THANK YOU LORD because it is a miracle !
Don't let anyone fool ya.we have all done something like that. Heck! I have a vice grips holding up a window on my car, as we speak. Good video.
I was going to add. I know a guy who is and was at the time, who left a shop rag in the intake manifold. Fired the car up, it ran a little funny, spit little burnt pieces out the exhaust. Great shirt Emily! Merry Christmas to you, Aaron, Finley and your families!
Love to see that you’re human too! Thanks for the educational video that shows real stuff.
Thanks for that informative.

Good to see Arran make an appearance at 4:33!
I love you guys, you are the kids I wish i had because you take on jobs and don't worry about making mistakes to show off your human side of life. Keep the mistakes coming😂😂
😁 had to replace my drivers windows motor recently..got my motor from the wreckers and dad helped me out..👍 Have a blessed Xmas!❄🥰
Great work. I was so frustrated when you discovered your mistake. I wanted to give up..Ugh, but you were awesome. Thanks for the video!
I feel ya!!! It was tempting to say ‘alrighty Aaron, I suck, you finish it!’ 😂😂😂
Good job Emily. We all make mistakes. Thats whats Called being Human. Dont let no one get to you. The keyboard warriors is who I mean.. Great Job. And Video
.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen someone using a ratchet with their legs crossed over sitting all proper like 😂❤️
Aah...so many others should look at your DIY... informative! I often have to guess at the missing steps or helpful info they don't convey... Great Job!
We don’t mind your mistakes. We all made them at one point or another. I still make mistakes , it’s how we learn. It’s a bonus for us … it gives us more screen time of your great attitude.
Thats not a mistake, just proved it can be in backwards, and what not to do! Great pro tip!

Window regulators can be a pain great job Emily.
Appreciate the great video! Took me longer to drive to the AZ that had one in stock and back, than it did to fix, thanks to you!
Great real garage video. Thank you for your time.
@pinnedby Flying Sparks Gar... I don't know what that means.
Always learning, great video 👍😁❤️
How many people know what that numeric sequence on your shirt is? I recognized it immediately.
It's easy to remove Loctite from bolts with a wire wheel but for small bolts and screws you can remove Loctite by soaking them in paint remover for a few minutes.
I made the same mistake about a year ago, no worries you got it done ✅ great job. Thanks
Great vid. Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Keep up on the vids and can't wait to see what you two have in store for next year
I appreciate you pointing out what could easily be missed if doing for the first time. Fantastic job. Merry Christmas to you and yours (including Finley)
your eyes are working overtime, but that is just fine😺
Nicely produced episode, professionally presented.
Kudos to you. I always seem to have a nut or washer left over after all is put back together ...
Success!! Very well done and congratulations on a fine job. Saved yourselves a lotta dough and improved your skills and knowledge base. I always find it very satisfying to figure it out yourself.
This served as a welcome reminder to me that if my A3 needed this, it would definitely be a GSI moment - not a DIY! (GSI = Get Someone In!) 🤭😳😆
way to go Emily. another great post.......
Always enjoy your videos. Always enjoy your smile and what you two get into. Great job!!!!!
@pinnedby Flying Sparks Gar... Hi your videos are very good and I always enjoy them. You both look like you are enjoying each other and work together great. The short videos with the voice overs were really funny.Take care and keep upthose great videos.

smart, able, AND beautiful?! New favorite channel!! Thanks for the assist.
Everything is a learning curve in life .you did great.
Awesome job Miss Emily.

We love your videos and I did one on my 84 thunder Bird it's not that easy
That looked way harder in a watch jr go video awhile back i saw! Awesome job!
You are one smart Lady Emily, I bet that Aaron pinches himself everyday :) Yeah, he's OK too. You both did well.
Bosch electronics are only marginally better than Lucas🤣
Thanks for the vid. What was your symptoms that lead you to this repair?
Not bad for a girl, cute video, just keep doing what your doing 😎😎😎👍👍👍
I don't call them mistakes, I call them learning opportunities. Before the tube, this was how you learned!
Good job ‘Em. I often take photos with my phone as I’m dissembling something so I can reference them when reassembling. Merry Christmas to you both. 🎄😘
Don't leave fingerprints on the glass--the customer will really be unhappy! LOL Have a Merry Christmas, see you soon.
Thank you! Much stress sorted
Interesting video Emily! Like the Chevy firing order t shirt too!
Great Job Emily Thanks for Sharing
The different bolts can be a pain so I drew a stencil of the door on a piece of cardboard and stuck the bolts into the place on the drawing where I took the bolts out.
Brilliant hand clap trick at 12:25. Can’t wait to try that on my next project! ;)
i thought this job would of been like a vw where they make you take off the whole outer door skin to repair the regulator. now i know how to fix an audi regulator if i come across one
Awesome job it happens to all of us !! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 it’s been awesome year watching you guys
Good job Emily. It's ok to learn as you go 😃 I know I learn something new everyday.
Aaron and Emily are Awesome

Ooooo the Fury!!!
Merry Christmas!
Hi there l have a 1977 mg with a small block chev 383 blower and nos
Merry Christmas 🎄
There is no other way to learn anything, So making mistakes is a good thing!
Sooooooooo, you tighten the glass mounting bolts to 2 Hee-Hees instead of 2 Ugga-Duggas?
Great camera work, A-A-Ron. Shop Foreman Finley is awesome.
Emily, thanks for being authentic about installation errors.
Lesson well learned!
Happy holidays
Working window regulators on all doors a must for fart evacuation on my vehicles ☣
I’m just here to see Finley ! lol
Merry Christmas 🎄
Nice work… my friends Ford Escape needed a window regulator in the rear left and it put up a good fight !
Love the shirt.
is there any difference in doing the passenger windows and driver window regulator
Marry Christmas y’all God Bless
I have the same A3 but black and got it a few weeks before you guys posted your first video with it. Curious which stage 2 tune you have and if you guys did it or it was there when you bought it. Love the vids.
Great job and video 👍👍🇨🇱
I made the same mistake the other week fixing my daughters A3 regulator (on the drivers door). With the difference I never mounted those screws.
Messed up the assembly completely when testing the power window. 2 weeks later still not fixed. Have to buy a new regulator 😂
Did you always have those screws? I bought my A3 used (same window regulator as in the video) and it didn’t have those screws when it broke and I took it out.
What is the part number for this part at Advanced Auto? Also, you did not link the two videos you stated you would link in the description.
Jolie réparation, bon travail, bravo à bientôt salut Jeannot 😉🛠
pinnedby Flying Sparks Gar... je ne comprends pas,désolé, à bientôt salut Jeannot 😉🛠
How about a quick follow up video to show what was wrong with the original regulator and could it have been repaired instead of replacing it?
What year is that Audi...I dont see how you rolled window down without panel back on. I having this problem with a 2008 model A3. But without panel connected I can't roll down windows or any function on driver's side.
