this is part 2 of the very Detailed NP231 rebuild that i'm doing for my LS Swap Project. Rebuilding the transfer case for your jeep is actually a easy project if you have some basic mechanical skills.

Informative...however something tells me there is a torque spec for the yolk nuts...

There is a torque spec for every fastener, feel free to use them as you wish

Front yolk is 125ftlbs, I'm not sure about the rear one for a SYE, it would best to check with a company that makes SYE kits.

Nice video. Reminded me of when I installed a SYE on my t-case years ago.
Yea, that oil pump in the t-case was as bitch to get in just right, as I remember.
Looking forward to the rest of the swap videos!

No more 7-main-bearing AMC 4.0L? Good motor! That new LS v8 ought to make things "somewhat" exciting!
Good video sir as I'm gonna do a SYE here on the 2003 TJ...lots here to see and learn about=thumbs up.
May as well to a TeraFlex 2WD low + 6 gear planetary unit in the NP231J as I wanna be done with it & done right.
Thanx for having this vid here, Jerry. -G'

I know this is a little older but I have a question. I am using your vid as a play by play for the rebuild of my NP231. My question, the gears that slide onto the rear output shaft. There are two sets of needle bearings and a synchro ring. Do you replace those?

Thanks so much for your knowledge and video's... also thanks for not swearing so much! It sure makes it easier to watch your videos with my family 🙂

Jerry, I didn’t do a SYE-just a regular rebuild. Should there be any forwards to backwards play in the shaft once it is completed?

Great video, thank you. Although personally I think I would have replaced those pads on the front shift fork.
What kind of blind hole bearing puller set is that that you are using? That one looks like it works excellent!.

If you buy a small pick kit from HF you can easily seat that pipe if it wants to come loose again when assembling, its the biggest pita when rebuilding it.
Great series man, been awhile since I last watched your chanel. Nice to see you still goin!
