- Bringing home my 8-week old #kitten and here is how the first 24hrs went, we brought her home and introduced her to our 2 kittens Nubbles and Mittens who are both 10 months olds now (I also got them this year) I'll tell you guys more about their breeds in the video

Seniors are the best. They aren't any more expensive than kittens from my experience.
I doubt they actually "adopted" a chinchilla persian... they are a fancy breed cat and cost from over 1,400 to 2k.@@Amaling
yes!! this is a very common thing that happens that since the cats are older, people don’t adopt them as much as a cute, young cat. but it would make a senior cats day, or the rest of their life. this also goes for dogs and other pets

you said nubbles is the queen of the household and very territorial, but i can tell she's mature. very calm, curious, balanced and laid back. on the other hand, mittens felt very insecure and confused. the kitten dealt with all of that really well! it felt very secure, concious and not scared at all. it even slept with you, thats so suprising! it took my cat a week or so to get used to me. the three will get together in no time though
You didn’t just adopt a kitten, you adopted the cutest kitten ever!
That was a really good introduction all around. Hissing is totally normal. The older cats aren't scared, they're trying to establish the pecking order. Even some soft-paw bopping is good, because if they're trying to discipline the kitten it means that they see her as a member of the group that needs to be taught manners.

This kitten is so chill! When I brought home my kitten (a Ragdoll named Eevee), she had ZERO chill. She wanted to explore every nook and cranny and wouldn't stop meowing. I love her to pieces, but she is still a bit spicy. Your baby kitten is ADORABLE

She needs a baby instead of confusing that poor animal with exagerated love and wasting her life. De-transition from "cat lady".
What a precious baby kitten. Make sure it gets tons of kisses, huggies and wuvies.
Ideally, you should be introducing the kitten to the other cats a bit slower.
1) Isolate the kitten in a separate room
2) Feed the kitten / other cats next to each other but separated by the door
3) Let them smell/interact slightly with the door slightly ajar
4) Swap the cats -- kitten in the rest of the house, cats in the separate room. This is to get them used to each others' scents
5) Supervised time together -- 30 mins or so, duration is up to your discretion
This worked well for me when I adopted a kitten and already had two cats. I did those 5 steps over a week.

How wonderful it is to share those first moments with a new "baby" at home! I love to see the older kids reactions to the "intruder." Amazing how fast they acclimate and then love each endlessly!!!

There is a great way to introduce a kitten to the established animals in the house by separating the kitten from the others -- over the next week, introduce the other animals to the kitten in 3 - 5 minute intervals -- and let the kitten have lots of time alone to sleep and adjust. By the end of the week they will all have adjusted. Good luck!
That's exactly what I always thought. I've only used that method and it worked so much better without any growling or hissing.

the ginger was like smeling and checking your body reaction to feel if you were protective and loving of the new kitten and yes hissing at your partner with jealous , even after try to hit the little kitten , full of jealousy :) she is so pretty and soft !

Be sure to hold and pet the old cat while introducing them to the new one. That gives your old cat security and helps accepting the new family member

I work in a vet clinic as a vet nurse, we have just bought a white and grey Ragdoll kitten who is pedigree level (wasn’t planned, was actually looking to adopt but then she came up on my screen and she is literally my dream cat). We pick her up in 3 weeks

This was a very nice introduction but, in my experience I do believe it is way better if you don’t overprotect the kitten. Your cats will not hurt her. They just need to get to know her and get used to it on their own terms without you in the middle of it. ❤
I had my 3 cats who were littermates and grew up together, they were really close to eachother, until I adopted a Siamese when they were 6 months old, and she was 3 months… I let her interact with them on er own terms, and even though they hissed at her, they were not aggressive just cautious.
And then they were were inseparable 5 yrs later! So, there’s no need to keep the kitten in your arms the whole time. ❤

I have a 3 month old kitten male and i just recently got a 6 week kitten, I try not to overprotect but the 3 month kitten plays way too rough and bites the neck, kicks etc. What do i do now?
@@onvvi6945 6 weeks??? That is way too young to be without his mother. a 3 month old kitten does not know how to play with younger kittens because he is still a baby himself.

I know people have probably already said it, but the introduction can go way smoother if you let the resident cats get familiar with the kitten's scent first before you let them see each other. Like letting them smell a towel/blanket that the kitten had been wrapped up in.
I had an outdoor street kitty that adopted me, just wandered in one day and made himself at home. Over the course of his ten years (outdoor life finally aged him enough), he met several other cats who wound up living with us. There was never any serious drama. There was occasionally some initial hesitation from the other cats, but it never erupted and everyone was soon friendly.
