Had this bike for a couple of years and it was on it that I drove the fastest that I have ever drove, 220 Kmh.. Not fast by any standards these days but it was enough for me...
Thank you for your thorough description of this excellent bike. I had 4 of these over the years and loved them to pieces. When the first red "refrigerator" model came out in 1987 it was a revelation and was "Top Dog" in all the competitive road tests. It was my first Japanese bike, having hung on to British 650s in a sort of loyal stupidity. On taking delivery, the owners daughter of the dealership commented " you are now driving Concorde instead of a pre war bi-plane. Dont wring the throttle like British bikes as it will spit you off ". How true she was. Sheer unadulterated power.
Dangit.. I have an 88 in the garage that hasn't run since '03. Was going to give it to a friend until reading the "sheer unadulterated power" in your comment. Now I have to make it go fetch me horizon again. Wish me luck.
I had the loan of one of these CBR's in the early 90's for a week ,and it sticks in my memory as probably the best motorcycle I've had the pleasure of riding. I have an 09' Sprint ST 1050 now, but that CBR was something.
Thank you for uploading this. I have a 1990 in R/W/B, and it's a bike I've wanted for a long time. She was £1900 from a dealer last summer with 26K on the clock, and in superb original condition. I can ride her all day in comfort, and love the power and ease of riding. Yes she's heavy when you're moving out of the garage, but once on the move this is a wonderful motorcycle.
Didn't like the jelly mould at all. Then bought one. First model which I had sell because of work injury. After several other bikes bought 1990 F. 1st one was superb 2nd even better. Best bike I've ever owned.Owned ZXR750. GPZ900R EXUP GOLD WING ETC.

french bicenterary revolution colors for 1989' model...the best look over all. Loved by childs and their parents, loved by grandma's too :) And for friends at work, it's just Captain America's bike
I am due to have a ‘91 CBR1000F (in the so called Benetton colours) delivered this Friday.. I have 5 bikes already, but the CBR has been a bike I have had an itch to own for many years.. I had a Blackbird 10 years ago which was quite a nice bike, but I have always preferred the looks of the big CBR1000.. Looking forward to delivery.
Absolutely fabulous value intercontinental touring bike means you can spend what you save as the purchase price on accommodation, equipment and accessories.
I have the Canadian version 87 Hurricane 1000F, and it still runs great. For a heavy bike, it handles very well, and that weight gives a more stable ride on windy days. A great sport tourer for sure.
Great real world use bike from an age when we were not being constantly bombarded by tech and who had shaved the last half kilo off etc etc.... Just good honest engineering and I think the paint jobs were brilliant back then. I have an ST1100 from same era and theres no reason it shouldnt go another 30 years and more if cared for 👍 ... and with relative ease !!
My friend had one of these, at the same time that I had a ZZR1100. The D suffix ZZR's build is, like the CBR, excellent - 50,000 mls + and it still looked like new. It was also considerably quicker than the CBR F, but the CBR did/does have a much, much better headlight.
On one particular return from one of our rides, I had to keep quite close to my friend, following his CBR F, as the OEM headlight on the 11 is really poor - I would say to the extent of being potentially dangerous. Soon after this, I fitted a HiD conversion, which was a huge improvement. Strange that even today, manufactured fit headlights which are often quite poor - even more ridiculous on high power machines!
Thanks to your review I am going to look at one in two days. From a private seller. Well maintained and, looking at the pics, in near mint condition. Price is €1300,- which sounds like a bargain to me. It’s the 1996 model.
@@reneverheij6938 After giving it some thoughts I went for a Suzuki GSX 600F Katana in equally great condition instead. I hadn't ride a motorbike for 22 years and was afraid that a 1000 cc might be a little overwhelming as a (re)starter bike. Did 1700 happy Km. since August 10.

I'm under 60, and find my 1990 a terrific bike. Not under powered in any way, great handling and all day comfort. A 'bit of a slow coach' ? Ridiculous comment.
I bought the SC21 when I was 25 and I sold it last year (28 years later). It was the first model. Non restricted power (in some countries it was restricted to 100HP).So it went well above the 155 mph that you mention. For me (my posture) and those years (low traffic density years, minimum speed control) it was the best bike ever. I rode an R6 and a Hayabusa of friends but they didn´t feel that comfy and stable at high speeds on degraded roads.

@@Adikxx maybe. But if you change the exhaust on a bike you change its character entirely. Especially 80s/90s models. This is more true of the CBR100f than perhaps any other bike. The CBR1000f silencers are unique. Without the original exhausts you are not experiencing the bike as it should be.
