    I think your tooling is even cooler than the horsepower you use it to produce. It's elegantly simple. effective and easy to machine.

    A craftsman at work. AND opinion by action vs. BS on things like mandrel's for squish bands, no base gaskets, .020 squish bands etc. WIll be waiting to see the "port" work as now that cylinder is lower than it was. The Transfers in particular. Maybe a discussion on things like primary compression? Excellent video BTW. And thank you.

      Hand built and crafted by a master I'd say. You sure don't waste time and fluid as water. Sure like to have a Tree monkey chainsaw in my stable. Thanks bud.

    Couldnt you scribe a line on the mandrel at the .060 mark from stock and cut down on the amount of time spent on slip fitting? Much respect.

    Is the entire squish cut at 90 degrees or is the cutter set to a certain angle for a tapered squish?

      @floydnglenn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I cut mine at 90, I've cut them on a slight angle in the past but prefer 90.

    Please help me sir if you will I'm trying to put a m660 cylinder 54 mm piston on my motorized bike motor I have just about got it all down but I know I'm going to be cutting close to a 1,/4 inch off of base of cylinder and the transfer ports are just about to line up with the 64 cc bike motor, my question is do I go ahead and open the ports to match the 2 down in the motorized bike block or leave those separate. I hope you can understand I'm just learning this stuff I have rebuilt yz 100 when I was 13 years old I know how to rebuild motors but to cut the base of a cylinder and redrill holes and Al that I just need a tiny bit more imfo ty my friend

    excellent vid, did you build the mandrels? where did you get a carbide cutter that big?

    • @floydnglenn
      @floydnglenn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      yas I made the mandrels. cutter bit is 1/4" hss lathe bit

    Hello.very Nice work. How much minimum gap do you recommend between piston and head? 0.6mm? Greets

      o.5 mm is what I shoot for

    If you cut the top off as much as the bottom whats the advantage of moving the piston closer to the top still a net increase in compression?

    • @Revellersaws
      @Revellersaws 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only thing i could think of, maybe he is removing the radius at the top edge of the piston, not so much the top surface?

    • @schattenmygirl
      @schattenmygirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This procedure is setting the stage for the real MAGIC. Fuel flow and timing and so much more to be squeezed from the transfer ports.

    Wouldn't it be simpler to do a pop up piston with base gasket delete and maybe trim the cylinder? It should be the same effect

      Ya if you wasn't wanting to open up the transfers more.

      It's about the transfers yo. Simply doing what your saying won't accomplish it

    Sweet work not amazingly clean though! Wouldn't want the metal flakes that settle in the ports in my crank case !!!!! But sweet how to and awesome hand work props!!!🤙

    • @floydnglenn

      I made them on my lathe which is needed to cut the base of the cylinder.

    • @98fishingfool
      @98fishingfool 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      scott kunz would you happen to make an sell one or several ?

    • @floydnglenn
      @floydnglenn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't have time to do so, you would need a lathe to cut the base, so you should be able to make your own.

      Any machinist can make you one after seeing the video if you hand him a cylinder. It's basic lathe and millwork.

      He knows low speed aluminum cutting doesn't need lube or coolant and the stuff makes a mess.
