Or a WCW retrospective video. The crusiers were the real highlight of WCW. It was one of the positive attributes of WCW over WEF. Although WWF tried with the light heavyweight division it wasn’t the same.
You’ve really gone from a talented if a little stilted TH-camr to honestly my favourite wrestling Channel in just a couple years. Cheers mate. Can’t wait to see how awesome you are in another year. My hope is that you get all the attention your talent deserves.

La Parka's finest hour! He should have been made "the nWo's resident luchador" just for his incredible physical comedy and charisma. He was already a heel in black and white!
I know we still have awhile to go before the war is over, but I really hope we get a “Reliving the Invasion” once it’s all said and done. This has really been an amazing series. Kudos to you Wrestling Bios for an awesome job and thank you for all the hard work and entertainment.
I’m curious, as soon as smackdown starts airing he is going to do a series pitting thunder and smackdown together. I’m gonna assume if he does, it will be a completely separate series.
@@firewalker1372 haven’t thought about that. “Reliving the Monday/Thursday night war” “reliving the invasion” “reliving battle of the brands” So much that he could do.

Also a few months after Smackdown premiered Thunder was moved from Thursday to Wednesday, so Thunder and Smackdown only went head to head for a few months.
I always wondered why Ric Flair was my favourite wrestler. I think I know now, why he surpassed people like Hogan. He was willing to appear an utter coward, to get the young lads over. There’s something oddly selfless and self-ironic about Flair - he enjoys being a heel, and does so at his own expense. It takes great character to be a theatrical villain.
He was the quintessential heel. Wore robes, showed of his looks and wealth, drawing heat, so that you wanted to see him lose. And unlike Hogan here, he was comfortable enough with losing. Knowing that his character was popular, not just the fact that his character had the belt. It’s also just smart business. If you put people over and help them graduate to the big leagues, then there’s more people in said league. Meaning more potential storylines to keep the public interested in seeing. Granted, he was older here, but compare his trajectory here vs. Hogan’s. Hogan has Sting as a foil. That’s it. And they’ve been milking it for over a year now. Imagine if there were three, legit contenders. All the potential rivalries and team-ups that could’ve resulted.
Dude... That match was an athletic big man match. Kane / Deadman only competition to nash/ giant. All four of those guys are more impressive and better than Hulk or an Andre.
At the time being young and watching these episodes every week live you really dont notice it, but now looking back and watching with you breaking it down you can really see the steep decline of WCW as the weeks roll by. keep doing what you doing.
I still remember people talking about Benoit/Raven, Jericho/Rey, and Nash/Giant the next day, as well as Raven laughing before passing out to the Crossface. Your PPV reviews always deliver. Thanks for everything, Wrestling Bios.
Thank you for your contiuous work of covering the monday night wars! Always a pleasure to hear your commentary and the jokes! Hurricarana into a Lion Tamer was an amazing counter, never seen that before!
Enjoyed watching this ppv for the first time, in particular the Raven v Benoit, Mysterio v Jericho and Hart v Flair matches. Nash's plancha reminded me of Summerslam 1995. That powerbomb looked extremely dangerous too. Interesting that they used the Saskatoon finish for Bret v Flair. I guess this must have been the earliest WCW could put Bret in a match following his WWF departure. Great to have His Excellency back in the ring.
I was there. Got in line at 3 AM in a line wrapped around the arena and was able to get tickets. Hara Arena was undergoing renovations recently and was blown away by a Tornado in 2019. It’s now been completely demolished.
I started watching this series about 2 months ago. I’ve finally caught up to the latest upload. These videos are great. I enjoy the stories told by the wrestlers and by your commentary to put things into perspective. Excellent work!
Thank you WB! back in the days, the cruiserweight division was my favorite. Eddie, Rey Mysterio jr, Dean Malenko, Jericho, Chris Benoit, la parka, ultimo dragon, the division was STACKED ! so this old ppv made my day, so many great matches for the division.
Considering what happened to Droz a year later in WWF during an accident with a power bomb it is a miracle that the same thing didn’t happen here with The Giant because that looked scary.
It's SO cool to see this show, this was the last wrestling show my father took me to. I kept pausing to see if I could find us in the crowd😂😂My gosh I miss Hara Arena. It was a little dump of a place but now that it's gone I miss it SO much. I went to so many events there in the 80s and 90s..
I seen insane clown posse there around 2000, bizaar bizzar tour, last time they was there and the last concert I saw there was Pantera slayer and nonpoint great place!
It really was terrible. They never managed to make a good entrance theme for him. The last one they ever made for him was certainly an improvement, but silence would have been an improvement, too.
Spot on. For some reason Bret and Flair think they didn't work well together but I respectfully disagree with both legends. I think their matches were awesome, both this one here and the 1992 world title switch in WWF.
I'd never seen the background behind the "Big Sexy Giant Killer" moniker and wow, it was pretty brutal. Glad the Giant was able to get through the injury.
I absolutely love the music you use in these videos , i think its from that n64 game wcw vs nWo revenge, if i remember right, but it makes the video perfect, great video I enjoyed it
Thanks for the review! I wasn't watching WCW at the time, so being able to see these things in context has been great. This show has three matches that perfectly showcases the potential of WCW: Rey/Jericho (athleticism mixed with just the right amount of character work and showmanship), Raven/Benoit (hard-hitting, no quarter asked nor given, but not deathmatch-style violent) and Hart/Flair (technical prowess with appropriate theatrics being done by legends who can still go). Also, La Parka's antics were hilarious. Something for everyone in this show; even the worst match wasn't terrible; it just felt more like a good TV match.
I played wcw/nwo revenge as a kid, that's about as far as I knew of wcw. I got into wwe right after their transition from wwf. I definitely never forgot the moment the Giant destroyed the ring for the fact that Hall was hilariously stumbled around the ring. I'll always remember that moment.
The card was good but here's my version of Souled out 1998: 1. 8 man lucha tag match, same participants. 2. Raven vs. Chris Benoit. No changes here, though Steve McMichael should have joined Dean malenko to clean house to start the subtle tease of the horsemen getting back together. 3. Ultimo Dragon vs. Chris Jericho for the Cruiserweight title. They swapped the titles too much, Rey being injured killed the match. Dragon was a better opponent. 4. Rick Martel vs Booker T for TV title was good no change. 5. Steiner brothers vs Vicious & Delicious for Tag Team titles. The 6 man was last minute and was boring. Plus they are teasing Scott's heel turn next month. 6. Nwo( Macho man & the outsiders) vs. WCW ( Lex Luger, Giant & Larry Zybskco). The actual matches should have taken place at starrcade. Hall and Nash being tag champs but not defend here was off since the big title was vacant and the US title was not defended. 7. Bret Hart vs. Ric flair. Would be a co-main event if the world title was defended, but regardless this should have closed the show not the actual main event. Main Event: Sting vs. Hollywood Hogan 2 for the world heavyweight championship. The vacancy still happens but instead until waiting til superbrawl for the match do it here. It was a waste for Hogan and Sting to be in Dayton but not have a match
