Love this channel, Arthur...it's so true, all those nostalgic restaurants and food are going away 😢...the younger generation doesn't want to learn the old school recipes so a lot if the dim sum shops don't even make theirs fresh anymore...glad to see your channel growing 😊...have a great safe long weekend ❤😊

Thanks so much. I always appreciate your comments! Sometimes I feel like an old fogey talking about the old ways, but I sense that we're moving in a direction of a unified mono-cuisine that passes as Chinese. I think it's enabled from social media. There's good and bad, but if you could find truly unique places to eat, places that preserve the cuisine or totally bring it to a new direction, that is golden.

Well done Arthur - not sure if you remember but we used to sit next to each other at the 9-5 back in 2017. Glad to see you here doing the good work! Keep going mate! 🎉

Hi!! Yes I remember! I hope you're well and perhaps still in NYC? I'm still 9-5 but this is quite the diversion for me. I appreciate your comments and hope you check out some of the places I've been to!

Chinese food has gotten better in America. I’ve read somewhere that Chinese vegetables and Sichuan pepper didn’t exist in American restaurants back in the 1970s. And now we are sort of living in a renaissance of Chinese food in the 21st century. A great era for dining out now.

It seems to me that broadening the general knowledge via social media has really helped. I agree with you that were in an unparalleled era of food.

Yqw Arthur...my dialect of Chinese is the old school ( hoisan ) supposedly the first dialect of chinese from the village called the South Waters of Leung...my dad used to tell me that if people ask you where in China your ancestors came from, just tell them the South Waters of Leung and they would know 🤔...Hard to find old Cantonese restaurants anymore...they are many more Szechuan, Thai, etc. types of restaurants around and many more Americanized Chinese take out restaurants...if they only knew that it's not real authentic Chinese food, they'll be in shock cause it's cooked more for the American palette 😊

Thanks to a fellow Hoisanese! I don't know much about the geography of the old country, but loved to hear your story!

Do the restaurants allow you to film? Also don’t get any backlash on your review. I seen many of the videos you don’t say anything.bad on them and yet don’t make fake facial faces on every food you eat pretending it is good. Would like to have the best and honest review. If food not good just say not good. Thanks

Hey thanks for watching! I tend not to overreact to any food because that's not me. As for "bad" food, I know what I say is solely my own tastes. That being said, even something I don't enjoy may have redeeming qualities for someone else, so I try to point those out. As for the restaurants, I generally walk in and roll, unless they tell me to stop.
