Just had to say that I love how light this was, for someone with GAD this was more hopeful then terrifying.

Right?! Like I was thinking things like "Oh my good, I'm such a dramatic person. Everyone is socool and I am here worrying about things that might never happen" but as soon as I knew it had a name I felt a little bit relief.

I feel like this video makes out that GAD sufferers are unhappy. I am a GAD sufferer and I am happy. I am just careful to avoid what makes me anxious and there's a big difference. X

I know it can make you unhappy but what I'm saying is that I'm not perpetually unhappy because I have an anxiety disorder. I know that it can make some people perpetually unhappy but I meant it from a personal perspective. I apologise, my comment was badly worded.

Omg this is so true! I could relate to the thunder cloud thing in the beginning because I am so afraid of getting struck, tornadoes, and I over think things to the point where I think that the lighting will come straight through a window, fly downstairs, and zap me. Same with turning off the lights, something is out to get me once it is dark...
One time I would not use the bathroom because of my G.A.D

There are also many different types of therapeutic treatments to help with GAD. It is not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, which is a common misconception. Cognitive behavioral therapy actually doesn't help with my GAD so make sure you talk to your therapist or psychiatrist about other options.

I think I have anxiety coz I always worry about two or three same topics everyday and I can't drag it away. it gives me stress and I go quiet after a bit coz I'm afraid that I would just blurt my worries out what's personal. I don't want to tell my parents because I think they'll think its stupid or silly. People don't understand....

  • @soniclovesamygirl

There was one week where I had at least one panic attack each day. For all seven days. Once, I had FIVE in one day. All over irrational stuff. GAD is exhausting. I'm always stressing over something... I'm worrying as I type. It only goes away if I distract myself or deny what I'm worrying about which is hard.
I'm overly attached to my mom and I'll go to her in tears when I'm scared. I don't think it's very normal for a high school student to run to her mom sobbing because of a panic attack.
One of my worst fears is death. Closely linked with that is cancer. When I get regular headaches, I'll overreact that it's a brain tumor or something. I'll ask my mom all the time if I have cancer and hearing her say no is a source of comfort.
But she's the only one in the house who takes me seriously. My grandfather just gets annoyed with me so I don't talk to him, and my older brother just thinks its foolish. So when my mom is gone, most of the time I cry alone and try to distract myself by watching TV.
I wish I didn't have to worry all the time. It's so hard on me.

I've been diagnosed with depression a while ago. But this also sounds a lot like me. I am always stressed and feel bad most of the time. I already seeked out for help but I still worry all the time about things from the future and things from my past. Some days are good... well... better... but some days are terrible. Should I talk about this in my next cognitive therapy session? And is there even a cure for this? I just.. really wanna be happy.

SherryJ Well we aren't doctors ourselves but would always recommend keeping open lines of communication.

    • @EverlastingSky
      @EverlastingSky 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

SherryJ The good thing about therapists is that you can say anything you want to them. Anything at all. You can go ahead and say : I LIKE MOSTARD IN MY MILKKKKKKKKKKK
And well, they cant tell anyone or they go to jail lol
      So its awesome.
Besides, they want to help people. Thats why they picked that job. So go ahead and tell them. I do therapy for years and im just 22 so.
      Yeah.
      Its awesome.

I didn't really know what I was about to watch, but I ALWAYS worry- sometimes it makes me feel physically sick or in a few cases has given me panic attacks. It's even worse now that I've had a baby, cos I don't just worry about myself- I worry for us both, so TWICE as much as before. It literally exhausts me and all I do is stay at home or sleep all the time. I feel like I want to go talk to a professional about this now.

  • @pappico

Its normal to be anxious about things like exams or meting new people but if its for something like noises then maybe you should think about an experience where a loud noise badly affected you which is probably why you react badly to them now since you're remembering that bad experience.
