The column shifter is fine for me. Like anything, you get accustomed to it. I love the fact that it’s not in the way and free’s up space for other switches and cup holders on the center console.
Honestly, my favorite AMG on the market right now has to be the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG. While it may not have the V8 like it big models, it certainly is a much better handling and sportier car. I just wish that Mercedes focused on their inline 6 and put it in CLA. It's such a great engine and its a shame that they just got rid of it for a four cylinder.
You may or may not already know this, but there's a flagship "S" version that the US doesn't get. I live in Australia, and we get all of the "S" versions of AMG's 4-cylinder models (A45 S, CLA45 S, and the GLA45 S.) Apologies if you already knew that lol.
I just got a 22--its actually a decent size--probably one of the bigger of small suvs.It is an suv until you turn on the sport modes--then it will smoke I think any hot hatch on the market.Str8 line performance is incredible for a 4 cylinder and the power is effortless even if you dont mash the throttle.
Gla all the way, just bought the 45amg and can’t complain one bit, still breaking in but definitely has some torque at the low end without even trying to step on it
@@samuelreid603 so the AMG GLA comes in two trims the 35 (305? Hp I believe, engine isn’t hand built) and the 45 which is 382 hp and hand built engine. The sedan has the same trims except it’s a Cla My opinion after 1 yr ownership , I love it. Definitely a sleeper since it’s a crossover, mini suv hatch I dont know exactly what to call it 😂 but wife and I love the car. If I could go back, I’d wait and find one with a pano roof and upgrade the brakes. Stock brakes are great but the 6 piston upgrade looks niceeee

@@samuelreid603 yea if I optioned out my car with all the things I want I’ll be hitting close to 75k as well so I had to skip out on a few things that honestly I realized I didn’t really need, just for bragging rights really 😅 either way I upgraded from a Honda to this so even a base model AMG was more than enough
Except 100 more horsepower, much nicer interior, much better stereo option, more available features, sounds better (my opinion), AWD vs FWD, but yeah more expensive.
@@craigprostcp I hate German cars--never owned one--but yesterday after Trump won I traded a Kona n for one of these--it was a MB buyback cause the first owner had a repair where the part took a month to get.Its a 22 GLA 45 with 7k miles and its excellent--there ism no comparison and they r lying on the stats of both cars.I was getting around 4.8-9 on my Kona and this is probably a 4.2 or lower.Both dct are jittery and jumpy but after owning a kona n for 2 years I know how to set the computers up to compensate in daily driving.Its fast--fast--did i say fast.Msrp to msrp its not a contest--the kona N is a deal--its faster then a ctr or gti--but if you can get a used amg or a buyback lemon that has not been wrecked its a monster.I had a 2020 awd stinger--sold it for a 12k profit--bought a kona n outright and just traded my kona and gave MB a check for 9k.I got 10k extra in the bank for repairs--maintenece and oil changes and folks on the forum said mbasic maintenece and these go over 100k--and thats with the older models with no major repairs.After about 40 mph the kona n--civic type r--kia stingers with the TT v6--acuras tlx types--american na v8s--can not keep up with this--plus if you set the computers up --being an AWD car it will rip off the line.

Oddly Here in India, every AMG model is only the 63s or 45s except for GLA which only shows up in 35. Also motor vehicle regulations mandate spare wheel, otherwise you can't sell a car so every car no matter the price point, includes a spare wheel in India. mercedes will usually modify the boot here and have a wheel well added. it helps that most mercedes sold in India are locally assembled, including AMG models now.
I wouldn't drive anything other than a Mercedes. Not perfect, but I drove my parents' Lincoln and it seemed very cheap to me. Mercs are extremely well made and worth it, atleast mine is.

Damn that car is nice. But, what about reliability? I know right now MB is more reliable than both BMW and VW/Audi, but what about in general? Compare to a Lexus? It seems like MB and BMW are just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks. They keep making the MB logo bigger and bigger. Is that to try and attract millennials? Geez. Those are some big a** brakes. haha. I like the illuminated door sills. It has a lot of thoughtful design elements. My only concern is reliability and repairs and prices to repair. Durability. ?? I don't really like it's body looks. Holy smokes that thing is fast!! The shifts are great.
It's probably what the customers wanted (i.e., more interior room and practicality). AMG still has to start with the base GLA250, which sits as the entry level compact SUV in the Mercedes lineup. But I agree -- the previous gen hatch looked so much meaner and sleeker. Now it's just another blob.

The Hyundai Kona N is a very fierce competitor to this for cheaper. But this looks good. The gla seems like a heavy boat compared to the KN.
